The longer queue times for dpsers is not role related problems! Why in WoW they dont have long queues? I guess you can answer this question by yourself.

I don't know where you been but I was on my leveling dps the other day on Taris and i was queued for 3 hours and not a single pop. DPS is harder to get because there are not as many tanks and healers as they are dps.

And the reason you don't have long times in WoW cause WoW has cross-server queues, TOR doesn't. But a flashpoint like this is desperately needed for dps that is leveling because unless your grouped with a tank or a healer you are going to be waiting for quite a while.

I like the fact that as an Imp you get to fight Pub NPCs and vice versa.

Finally a bit of WAR flavor. Ganking 3rd parties was getting a bit old.

Big thumbs up for that.

I hope this approach also makes it way into Operations. Mechanically wise they can be identical but why not have bosses skinned and voiced differently, as republic/empire generals/war droids etc. etc.

I agree I want to see a Operation where it's republic vs empire. They have shown with this flashpoint that they can make the bosses mechanically wise the same but different based on faction. It will also make players roll on the other side to do operations in order to compete achievements.

This all sounds very inovative and obviously a lot of time and effort has gone into its development. I hope it works well.

What I'm curious about though -- with role neutrality, does this necessitate a 'smoothing-out' of the difficulty level to compensate for the lack of a dedicated healer or tank? So that if you do get a group finder queue pop for an ideal group of 4 level ~50s (2x DPS, 1x Tank and 1x Healer), won't this just end up being a total faceroll?

And as people have alluded to, in GW2 (where they have made the most concerted effort to abandon the 'Holy Trinity' of functional roles in small group play) most groups are now specifically restricting to max-dps specification and gear only -- so they can out-DPS the dungeon before it out-DPS's them. Is that what these new Tactical Flashpoints are for?

I am not talking about queues on low levels. I am talking endgame

Exactly that... you may see it first hand in CZ 2+ versions.

You see bad player promos here... if BW continue that way nobody will level tanks/healers due to such content and very much easier leveling as DPS, then on endgame PUGing will become much much worst.

GL to all pew pewers when it happens and no sane players PUG anymore.

Role neutral, bolstered levels, random objectives for different experiences every time and ofcourse my favorite, finally taking it up against the republic again instead of all the other 3rd parties. Consider me much interested and very enthousiastic. Can't wait to try this one out on basically every character I have.

Make ALL flashpoints role-neutral!!!!!

Even hard modes... DPS shouldn't have to wait an hour and 30 mins for a Q to pop

One step at a time. Best to see how this one works out before making (or converting) more of them.

Clearly this is designed to help alleviate some of the frustrations that DPS are having with queues, AND to provide some randomization to the FP so that it's not internet cliff-noted on day one. But it remains to be seen how the players actually make use of it. I say this because players are notoriously clever at distorting the intended use of everything in an MMO.

This is a good move by Bioware (and shows they are listening to player frustrations), but it remains to be seen how well it works out with players. If players collectively trash talk it and rant and complain.... expect to see no more of these.

Does that mean we'll start seeing Bothan NPCs in the game? I can't recall seeing any Bothans in the game before.

There's been pictures of artwork with Bothans in it - and Bothawui was the site of a HUGE-*** battle between Republic and Sith forces during the Great Galactic War (the war from before the current war) with some 50,000 Sith forces taking on some few 84 Jedi and 5000 Republic Troops but we've not actually SEEN a Bothan

Maybe Bothans will be the base for a new race to play :)

Roll a tank, or complain loudly to Bioware to make tank gearing in the end game less painful so people are more willing to do it. Or make Flashpoints actually drop something useful after you're in 72+ gear, I haven't done a flashpoint on my tank in months because he's in 78s and there's literally no reward for it. 12 Ultimate comms for 3? I'm out of stuff to buy with Ultimate comms, why bother?

That and tanks and healers wouldn't be able to get a queue because going 4 DPS would get you through the FPs much faster than a "proper" group.

Most of the things about the new type of flashpoints sound great, except the role neutral part.

There are so many things they could do to fix que times for dps but role neutral has to be the worst choice. If the devs were half as good at coming up with new ideas to make the game better as they are at inventing new ways to dumb down mmos this game would have 10 million subs.

Sounds interesting enough, but the thing that pops in to my head are the czerka FPs that can be just facerolled without thinking at all(yawn... As my Sorc would say :D) . The part about it being slightly different each time you play it is great thinking on the Devs part, manly because running Mando raiders for the 50th+ time for example, makes me want to pull my hair out(maybe just me tough). The GSF deck I couldn't care less about, but people seem to enjoy the pew pew in space so it makes sense to add it, to me at least. All in all I care more about the buff my Merc healer is gonna get in 2.6 then anything else

TL;DR Yay new Flashpoint! Role neutral? *yawn*. A Flashpoint that changes each time you play it? Hell yeah! GSF deck? Meh.. Whatever.. Waiting on pins and needles for the Merc healer buff;)

This is coming too late Bioware. Role Neutral flashpoints, mobs that turn your level when you hit them. If this had been out two years ago you would have never had to go free to play. Sadly now the game is mediocre at best and nothing you do will keep players from going to Elder Scrolls in a few months.

I wonder if this armor is the same that you see on the escort for the high mucki-di-muck at the end of the Republic Makeb mission series. I was just commenting to a guildie a few days ago that that set looked really nice. Edited by ButeoRegalis
