The Black Talon Guide

"The peace between the Republic and the Empire is almost broken. Skirmish are frequently and it's only a matter of time that this will result in war. In one of these skirmishes a republic ship, "The Brental Star", has escaped carrying an important empire member, "The General", that has vital information. Four empire members have been requested to intercep "The Brental Star" and deal with this problem..."

 

Greetings and welcome to my first guide. First of all, I'm not english so forgive me if there are mistakes and I will appreciate any suggestion or correction. So, now that this is clear let's start with the guide.

 

The Black Talon is the first Flashpoint for the Empire and it can be done after you left Hutta or Korriban. It's a 2 persons Flashpoint. In fact, it can be done with 2 persons and both companions (one of them should be a tank if there's no tank in the group). However, I recommend you bringing some healer or, at least, semi-healer. For example, a Sith Inquisitor Sorcecer at this level can roll both, DPS and Healer at the same time.

 

PART 1

 

We can pick the quest in the Imperial Fleet. Go to Dromund Kaas departures and look for Black Talon Valet. Speak with him and he will give us the quest.

 

Now that we have the quest go on board and talk to Lietenant Sylas, second-in-command of "The Black Talon". She offers to take us to Dromund Kass by "The Black Talon". Moreover, she says that "our" droid NR-O2 wants to speak with us. So, go to the conference room and talk to him. While speaking with him, we realise that he's not our droid. In fact, his master is Grand Moff Kilran, who we meet via holocron. He says that a republic ship, "The Brental Star", escaped from a skirmish with the Empire carrying a passanger of vital strategic importance called "The general". He "orders" us to intercept the republic scum ship and bring back "The General", or not :mon_evil:

Unfortunately, the captain of The Black Talon Orzik don't want to intercept the ship so we have to deal with him.

 

Follow NR-O2 and talk to the Imperial Lieutenant. He will not allow us to enter into the Black Talon, but we have to. We can attack him, threat him or just obey his orders. Note that none of these actions give us dark or light points, but they affect our relation with our companion so make sure you pick the correct one. However, I suggest attacking them and show no mercy :D. In any case, they will attack us. Deal with them and continue to the bridge. During the our way to the bridge we will find standard level 10 enemies which are easy to kill. To make things easier, remember to exploit gas barrels.

At the brigde, we talk to NR-O2 and during the conversation we meet Captain Orzik. He he will not allow us to use "The Black Talon" to intercep "The Brental Star" so we have to "convince him" or "get him out of our way". In other ways, we can negotiate with him (+100 lightpoints) or we can kill him (+100 darkpoints).

Then, we intercep "The Brental Star" but, unfortunately, the republic (scum...:D) sends sabotage droids. Our mission is to destroy GXR-5, the droid boss. In our way to the engine room we can complete a bonus, which consists in destroying 25 sabotage droids. Some of the are standard, but there are 2 or 3 strong.

Use the elevator and continue until we arrive to the engine room. Remember that we can unlock the codex entry "Gage Class Transport" and open a security chest, both marked in the following map

When you go down the stairs, DON'T ATTACK THE BOSS. Instead of that, go to the left door and the right door and destroy the six sabotage droids without engaging GXR-5. After that, we can destroy GXR-5

 

First Boss, GXR-5 Sabotage Droid

 

Category: Champion

Level: 10

HP: 8389

Passive: Magnetically Stabilized: "Inmune to incapacitating and movement-impairing effects"

Mechanics:

 

Full auto: Fires a continuous stream of bolts that deal heavy damage for up to 4 seconds. --> Nothing special to say about this. It's its main attack and deals a lot of damage in a short period of time, so the healer must be aware.

Sabotage Probe: GXR-5 sends Sabotage Probes that exploit after a few seconds. --> It's important to destroy these droids before they reach the tank or other members of the group. When they exploit they inflict a considerable amount of damage so it's better to use ranged weapons or ranged spells against them.

Congratulations, we have killed the first boss. Now, we have to go back to the bridge.

 

PART 2

 

The Sabotage Droids are destroyed and the ship is not in danger. Now, we have to board "The Brental Star" and find the General. However, we receive an incoming transmition from the Jedi Satele Shen. She suggests that we should go back and not board the republic ship unless we wanna meet republic forces and Jedi. Fortunately, Sith and the Empire are far better than the Republic and we proceed with the plan. Scum Jedi :mad::mad:.

Use the elevator that is just behind us and go to the Starboard Hangar. Remember that there's a repair droid next to the Imperial Transport so we can repair our equipment if it's damaged.

Congratulations, we are in! Now we have to clear the path in order to get to the Holoterminal and contact with "The Black Talon" for further instructions. The enemies are republic troops. Most of them are standard enemies, but there are some strong enemy and one elite enemy. During our way, another bonus mission will be available, which consists on defeating 25 Republic Forces. We should complete the bonus task in order to get access to a later boss. Note that there are barrens that make everything easier.

Use the elevator and go to the Transport Deck. Once there, kill the Star Security Chief (elite) and use the holoterminal.

NR-O2 says that the Republic is trying to evacuate The General so we must go to engine Deck in order to catch him. Notice that when we are on our way a second bonus task is available, which consists on killing 25 more republic forces. Make sure that we complete it.

Once we are at Central Hub we will see the next boss: Commander Ghulil, a republic war veteran.

Before killing him, we must kill all enemies, including the 2 elites, except the boss and 2 guards that are next to him. Remember that there's a security chest.

Second Boss, Commander Ghulil

 

Category: Champion

Level: 10

HP: 13334

Passive: Stalwart: "Inmune to incapacitating and movement-impairing effects"

Mechanics:

 

Backhand: Smashes the target with a backhand for kinetic damage.

This version does not stun, but does good damage on a short cooldown. --> Nothing special to say about this. It's its main attack and deals a lot of damage in a short period of time, so the healer must be aware.

Plasma Probe: Creates an AOE for 2mins that does damge if the player is inside and increases if the player remains in the AOE. --> Be careful with this ability! The AOE damage increases if we remain in the AOE. Moreover, it lasts 2 min so we have to avoid them when Ghulil spams them. The best way is to move the tank (if it's a companion) when there's a bomb near him/her by clicking the passive ability and then clicking attack again. Human players must stay out of their range.

Suggestion: Kill the 2 guards before killing Ghulil.

 

Congratulations, you have defeated the second boss. Now, use the elevator and continue to Escape Pods. Notice that a third bonus task will be available, which consists on disabling munition consoles.

 

The next room is Munitions Depot. Here there is the third boss of the Flashpoint. However, this boss only appears if we complete the bonus task chain. So, make sure we disable all the consoles, but before we should kill all the enemies in the room. Remember that there's also a security chest in the room.

Third Boss, GXR-7 Command Droid

 

Category: Champion

Level: 10

HP: 11845

Passive: Magnetically Stabilized: "Inmune to incapacitating and movement-impairing effects"

Mechanics:

 

Power Blast: GXR-7 punches player and applies a balistic on the last punch. --> When GXR-7 uses this ability the target will be knocked back.

Power Punch: GRX-7 fires a large number of bolts over 2 secs--> It's a quick attack that deals a lot of damage. However, GXR-7 only uses it on targets previously affected by Power Blast. So, if the healer is aware of the situation this boss is easy to kill.

PART 3

 

We are getting closer. This General will suffer! Show no mercy to defectors. Oh no! What happens? There's a Jedi :mon_trap:

The last boss is Jedi Yadira Ban. She is quite aggresive. Note that wathever we answer to her we will not gain alignment points.

 

Last Boss, Yadira Ban

 

Category: Champion

Level: 10

HP: 13840

Passive: Strong of the Force: "Inmune to incapacitating and movement-impairing effects"

Mechanics:

 

Force Charge: Charges the enemy, immobilizing it for 1.5 seconds and dealing low damage. --> Nothing special to say. Make sure not to generate a lot of threat if the tank is immobilized.

Cyclone Nova: Yadira pulls nearby players to her and snares them, then builds up Force energy for a few moments before unleashing it in a cyclone of destruction around her location. NOTE - Modify movement speed should be 70. The system is buggy right now. ---> This is the special ability of Yadira. She pulls all nearby players to her and after a few seconds she will deal a lot of damage and throwing enemies back. The best thing we can do is to escape from her one she uses this ability. It will be perfect some ability that eliminate all snearing effects.

Suggestion: There are barrens in the room. It's a good idea to bring the combat to them and exploit them. Yadira will suffer 1000 dmg.

Congratulations, we have defeated our first Jedi! For the Empire! The darkside of the Force is more powerful than the pathetic Jedi's vision. :csw_redsaber:

Now, continue and meet The General. He is a defector because he doesn't want a war between the Empire and the Republic due to the massive destructions weapons. At this point, we can decide if we want him dead or alive. If we kill him (unlimited powahhh) we will gain 100 darkside points and if we capture him we will gain 100 lightside points. Just kill him :p

 

Now that the job is done. Go back to Port Hangar and contact "The Black Talon" via holoterminal. It seems that something happened on board. So, we must return to our ship and see what has happened in the Bridge at Command Deck.

Apparently, there has been a rebellion because they thought we would kill them. As a result of this rebellion, Sylas is dead but, fortunately, NR-O2 can pilot the ship.

You receive a transmition from Kilram, who thanks us our help. After this, we can decide if we wanna travel to Dromund Kaas or get back to Imperial Fleet.
