Terribly slow game download from client, are there any alternative mirrors like bittorrent?

 

Im downloading the whole game at 70-150 kb/s and that really isnt enough. With that speed it will take me like 2 weeks of non stop download to get the game.

 

When using steam or other services i manage to get up to 800-900 kb/s.

The file servers are overwhelmed right now, there are hundreds if not thousands of people trying to download the game files. Even the best servers have a limit on how fast they can put files out. I averaged 64kbps (shown on the progress bar, which btw is not the most reliable measurement) when I downloaded it on launch day and it took about 8 hours.

That's what I thought aswell but I thought that there maybe was some option to change timezone to download from, as in downloading from zones that arent in current peak hours. And Im downloading the full game, I really dont see that happening in 8 hours with 64kbps, been downloading since yesterday and im on the "English Assets 1" right now.

Did you order digitally? If not it'd be much easier to install from the discs. Otherwise I think you'll just have to deal with it. I know some people found it helpful to pause it for a few seconds then resume so you could try that.

Try and find/ copy the game discs, that will save you a heck of a lot of downloading! Otherwise stop downloading and try restarting the launcher, maybe you'll get a better connection. Otherwise you'd just have to be patient, or try using the Force!!

I had to download an update earlier and it downloaded at 2.6MB/s, seems fine to me...

Thanks for all the replies, ive tried pausing and re-starting, it helps speed up connection when its slow but if its mediocre then it might just aswell drop down to slow. Bit of a gamble there hehe.

And make sure nothing is competing for the pipe at your end. I forgot I had the whole season of Game of Thrones VOD downloading to my DVR - once I killed that download, this one started going twice as fast. Duh.

Unfortunately my speeds have been varied. I either get really slow speeds (under 100kb/s), or I get fairly good ones (~1.4mbps), but when I get good speeds it will download for a few minutes then the launcher will freeze up and I have to restart it. It's quite inconvenient... Purchased online at least 8 hours ago, still not even halfway through downloading Main Assets 1.

fixed mine,now back to usual 2.65mb/s speed

I had the same issue, I started the download at 2100 and the game want downloaded patched and ready to play until 1700 the next day, which is a 20 hour download time lol.

OMG TY!!!! that worked like a charm, also solved most of my "unable to reach patche server" issues as well, you sir should be commended!

the p2penabled thing didn't work for me...

Me either. I rebuilt my system today with new MB, CPU and RAM I got for Christmas. Currently I am downloading at a whopping 75KB/s. This is awful. I have run several speed test and I am getting 10.20 Mbps. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Edited December 27, 2011 by Yerej

I was pulling my hair and hitting myself in the eye by the "install from disc"-posts, but suddenly a decent and smart man made a usefull post. Ty sir.

Tolian, you are awesome. I was getting download rates of 25 KB with tons of disconnects. It was gonna take a week at that rate.

 

Now, I'm screaming along. Now I just have to wait through the server down time tonight and another big patch. Hopefully, I can get this thing loaded by sometime tomorrow.

Where do I the game directory? This aggravating the hell out of me. -.-

NVM, I'm back to super slow again. 24KB/s for the last hour.

 

Back to Skyrim, I can roll a new character and play the entire game again before this thing ever downloads. Ridiculous.

Yeah, I flipped it to true as well. Kind of helped and mostly didn't. I'm with the other Skyrim guy. Thanks for the tip though.

P2P to true helped slightly. It just made the download a bit less smooth, however it jumped my speed up. Problem is it steadily declines with every second, but pausing and resuming it will reset the speed up to 1.5mb... It makes no sense, it's unreal.

this would have been a lot easier if there was just a file server direct download... or even a torrent now im at 19 gig with 1.8 gig left for the "English Assets" please to god dont be more after this...

anyone know what ports this thing uses?
