SawneyRath
Ventrillo is an outside program you use to talk to people while playing the game. So you do have to download it from its site. People use it for all sorts of games, not just SWTOR, or MMOs for that matter.
Tatile
Just a few notes: If you are using Windows 7, you will have to run Ventrilo in Administrator mode for the keybinds to work when you're in SWTOR. A rival VOIP you might see mentioned is TeamSpeak - the programme is free as well, but set up is slight different to Ventrilo. You may seem them referred to Vent and TS. There is also an option to have the mic activated when you're speaking, which I personally wouldn't recommend if you swear to yourself a lot or have a lot of background noise. Did I miss anything?
