Kicking a group member

Recommended Posts

When is it acceptable?

I've had two experiences where I wanted to, but didn't in either. In the first, our healer was under geared for Lost Island HM and we carried him through. We wiped several times on bosses because he did not pay attention to mechanics. He was friendly enough, though.

Then there was another player in a story mode KP run who was very clumsy. He kept dying from silly things (i.e. jumping into acid against bonethrasher) and we had to wait on him. I'm willing to forgive a little clumsiness from pugs. But then he got rude. He needed on the Bio alloys twice when we asked everyone to pass. He made a rude comment about how angry he was that another group member made a mistake (when he made the very same mistake on the very next pull).

Is it acceptable to kick these people? Or maybe just the second player? I don't want to be rude to other players, and I realize that I should expect some of this from pugs. But I can only handle so much.

For the first: kicking him would likely get you on his ignore list. Maybe he shouldn't have queued for LI yet, but at the same time he has to sometime, and you helped a healer get better gear and more experience. He wasn't being a pain...why would you want to shrink your healer pool over that?

Second guy - I assume it was the LFG tool. You can't expect a guy to pass on drops that aren't class bound gear (or gear that a group member could upgreade themselves with.) But if he isn't paying attention to mechanics and whoever became the op leader, and he's being rude to other people...then sure, kick him out.

I recently attempted to do LI HM through group finder just because I wanted to try to get the daily. Admittedly, I was unprepared. I don't think I was under-geared (rakata earpiece, implants, belt, bracers, matrix cube, and champion relic all aug'd...plus a full warhero set), but I had not studied the fight. I got booted twice. Once the others were nice about it. They didn't actually boot me, just asked that I leave and suggested I study up on youtube before trying again. The other time, not so much. I guess I can understand, but both times it was a group that obviously needed a healer and had requested that group finder fill the role. As the person before me said, at least one person made it on to my ignore list. You can't magically wish up a full rakata healer who has ran the flashpoint 10 times to escort you through. At some point you have to deal with people who want to learn. If you don't have time to hold hands, then just be upfront about it with the person.

I think it is silly to expect pug members to have read up on a fight.

I read up on Flashpoints before I did them, I thought that was par for the course. That being said with PUGs I do check to see if people know tactics, then give them a brief overview if they've not read the fight or done it before.

My guildies and I like to make jokes when people ask if we know the tactics, like saying the HK has a grabber claw.

That sounds reasonable.
