They do add boss mechanics to many fights in 16-mans as well as make other boss mechanics more obvious (and dangerous). The strategies used will need to be tweaked and it almost makes it feel like a different fight in general. Usually though, the general public doesn't want to work towards the harder challenge if the rewards are the same so in that sense, then no.... There is no reason.
