Hard Mode Eternity Vault phase 2 lighting balls.

Recommended Posts

Those damn lighting balls last forever and alot of the times in our 8man everyone is kitting atleast 2 of them! Whats going on? Eventually we decided to just take them in the phase away from the group 1 at a time because the healers could never heal and the dps could never dps unless we did it that way. How do u guys do it?

Best strategy is to ensure the people the balls are targeting have good health and/or a bubble or cooldown up and then they can dive into their own lightning ball ASAP so that it isn't running around causing problems.

Taking the damage from the ball is preferable to the lost DPS and risk of incidental proximity zapping later.

Blow them up with either a dedicated offtank or people using defensive CDs + bubble.

we tried that, found that they could only be despawned by their intended targets. only blows up for 4k though when you collide with yours so its not too horrible. whats annoying is sometimes eating an extra tick after they die for total of 12k dmg. sually ticks once and its like 7k total to eliminate one.

It's funny, but the balls are actually tauntable. The OT needs to target the ball and taunt it first, then it will be on him and it will pop when he runs into it. This used to be a way to do it, but I don't know if they changed anything.

However, it's easier now as the raid gets message spam for who has a bubble following them. Just have healers top those people off so they can safely run into their balls. The people kiting just have to be smart enough not to kite them through people, and the other people need to zoom their camera out all the way and look around to make sure they don't get hit.

We did hard-mode Soa by having the tank face the boss east, the rest of the raid behind the boss, and whenever the thunderballs would spawn, the people they were targeting ran out of the raid, soaked them by running directly into them and got healed back up.

The thunderballs always spawn from the power sources in front of the boss.

Doesn't work on Hard but yeah this is what we did on Normal when we were still doing those.

Stack up behind the boss. When your name appears in the raid warning, go find your lightning ball and burst it by running into it. Use self-defensive cooldowns if you have any, or assign sages/sorcs to shield players. There's really not much healing required if you do this - just top off the players after they pop their lightning ball and keep the tank up. It's a lot messier if you try to kite balls instead of bursting them as they come.

How do you guys handle phase 3 with it being much more hectic than phase 2?

Generally we make the OT responsible for hitting one, and the Tank will smack another one. With the screen spam notifications on since yesterday it makes it a lot easier to see where they're going.

it worked in all modes, the patch which brought the "xyz is targeted by ball" also made them immune to taunts, so now only the targeted players can defuse them.
