TormDK
Both, you are not hardcapped by the story.
redfurry
Hello and welcome to the game. Short answer: both, but more by story line. Longer answer: you need a certain amount of experience points (XP) to level up. This amount raises with every level. There are some actions that give you experience, such as discovering new map zones or codex entries; but killing mobs give more experience than that, and completing missions (both story line and "side" missions) is what gives more XP of all. Hope this helps!

Hope this helps! hmm killing monsters does not give more xp than discovering new land or lore objects. Beside mindles killing mobs only for xp is a waste of time, kill mobs only if this is for quest or they are on your way to quest area, than it is profitable the most
