Merouk Posted February 21, 2013 Share Posted February 21, 2013 (edited) Typically, they need to make the expansion optional, so that people who don't want to pay for it can continue to play the old content. So, the patch 2.0 that you see on the PTS will be the free parts of the expansion. This is so that everyone can log in and continue playing, even if they don't buy the expansion. Rebalance of class abilities, level 55, all that, is free. The $10 expansion pack will get you the actual planet, quests, etc. that they are adding as an expansion. I could be wrong. If this SWTOR expansion is anything like every other expansion in every other MMO in existence. You will have to purchase the expansion to get the benefits - access to the new planet, level cap increase, etc. If you do not purchase the expansion you will be "stuck" with what content there is available now: levels 1-50, etc. But you do not HAVE to pre-order.
