Hacks being rehashed AGAIN

I'm not even sure why I'm even bothering to post this, we've all heard it before, but I'm pissed 😡 hacks are back again. Bioware are too slack to stop it themselves and rely on us to police it for 3-6 months by reporting people. Eventually they either fix the broken code or most of the hackers leave pvp. Most of the old time pvpers know both Icy and myself can tell the difference between a hack and ledgitmate play or you should know after all the threads and proof.

Let me shorten the thread for once without having to rehash it in detail.

Same old hacks being used as they were in the past again. They've been popping up over and over since launch.

This is how it starts

Hack troll appears in ranked, advertising what he is doing and that he's found another broken code they supposedly fixed. He shares them with others who share them with more people.

They learn not to use them as blatantly as he does so they don't draw too much attention to themselves and people get confused about what they saw. The scrubs take it into regs where lots of people can't tell the difference from an ability, mechanic or hack.

The really bad scrubs get hold of them because they think it will make them good, but all it does is prove they are scrubs because they can't play without them, most don't even know how to hide them and they stick out. Then they troll regs, sometimes in groups and often abuse the other team. This reduces the queue as people quit.

Because so many pve people have joined pvp and find they aren't good enough, they are starting to hack. I've seen a big increase on the private hacker forums of people asking for hacks to swtor and they are getting them and then confirming on the same forums that they work.

So, this post is longer than I meant it to be. But this what I wanted to say at the beginning and before people ask.

Do I have proof. Yes

Did I report. Not yet, I'm report fatigued

Will I share or post this proof lol. The answer is obvious I can't :(

What are they doing, ie description. They are using most of the normal ones. Clip, teleport, speed, floating to avoid damage, going through walls, capping while stealthed, etc.

Hacks are bad for the game, it ruins people's experience and ultimately stops people from playing. If you can't play without hacking, don't play.

***** BIOWARE IMPLEMENT A ZERO CHEAT POLICY FOR GODS SAKE LIKE YOU DO WITH OTHER CHEATING****

What server are you on? I've yet to see anything resembling hacking on any of the servers I play on.

Harbinger.

Have you not seen the usual troll in ranked? He was everywhere a few days ago. There are some trying out his hacks in regs. They have the settings set really low. So you really need to have eye for it, unless it's something blatant like capping while stealthed.

Just had a healer operative in Hypergates keep melting into the big square brick in mid so we couldn't hit him. Everytime he came out we ganked him, but just when he was close to dying he melted back in. So frustrating.

Had another person walk through the void star door just a few games ago and go cap the bridge before the first door was open. Idiot was on my team and I called him on it. He just said it's for lulz. At that point I left, I don't want to be associated with cheats.

Then there are the more subtle ones happening like floating above the ground so people cant hit you. This often gets mistaken for a graphics glitch because it does happen. But when you are soloing off on their own and not one ability hits in a minute, then you know it's dodgy. There are a few of those around at the moment, but also the glitch is happening too. The only way to confirm if you can't spot it is to run the combat log and record at the same time. Then you can match up the engagement and see if they took any damage from you or was everyone of your abilities a miss. I run the combat log through a parse program, so I can see everything really easy.

What I'm seeing the most is the melting into walls or through them. I'm still trying to distinguish a few I "think" may have been speed hacks, but it's hard to tell at the moment because of all the speed boost utility choices. I started a thread last week to ask if anyone could make a chart or list for the max possible speed for each class with all speed utilities, but I guess it won't happen. I'll have to try and do it myself.

I tell you, I have report fatigue in this game. If you aren't reporting cheats, it's bugs, exploits or trying to get CS to help with something the game stuffed up.

I've honestly never played a game out of beta phase that requires as much from its players as this one does. We basically police and QC the game for Bioware because they won't higher people or put systems in place to reduce it.

You mean like in Nova Coast where Sage can trigger the mid terminal while they are (far) OUTSIDE the trigger zone ... I've seen that many many times and it is not fixed ! Edited by Luxey

That's a bug, not a hack. But it's still a cheat, so it sucks when people use an exploits like that.

That's the result of incompetent implementation of phase walk by the devs. And imo it's a bug but they never acknowledged it and obviously never fixed it.

oh yeah he was back. it's like driving a JEEP on water with ZEERO chance of sinking. i quit Queing when the hacker returned.

Haha, I see what you did there. Bioware's leniency is absolutely pathetic. These are same people who keep harassing rest of the players over and over. There are ways of dealing with it and slowing down their comeback.

Didnt they recently say they have a QA testing team in Bulgaria or somewhere? Isn't that the hacking capital of the world?

From the posts JEEp has posted in the past, we know he can't speak English very well. So, maybe they don't do anything to him because he's one of their testers

Now that would be irony, their QA team does they're job so well that they can hack the game, they tell Bio about the problems. Bio do nothing as per usual, so JEEp shows everyone the problem by hacking in pvp. They try to stop him, but find they need him in 6 months to QA again because they can't do it.

Rinse and repeat.

Not that i know of. And honestly - hacking capital of the world? With <6 million people and the worst standard of life in the whole EU. Yes, IT is paid pretty well, considering the country's standard of life but most of the young IT specialists go to work in Germany or UK soon after graduating.

I wasn't trying to put them down, it's just I saw a documentary recently that said most of the organised hacking crime in the world comes from that country.

I'm sure the actual students and specialists head off as soon as they can.

But it may not have been Bulgaria that the Dev team said, it may have been Romania or another country close to them.

They said it on one of the live streams leading up to the expansion.

I also wasn't being serious, I was saying how ironic it would be if that was the case

As far as I know biggest hacker groups are in Russia and China, but i can't provide source about that too.

People cheat, they always will. But the only thing I agree with, that's the most damaging, is that people become discouraged and quit. That's the part that hurts the most.

This new Command system makes it worse. Hackers and cheaters are coming out full force to get max. CXP.

On Ebon Hawk it's bad, really bad with cheats and hackers in WZ's.

Bioware doesn't care. It's not about the players. SAD.

It's only gonna get worse as time marches on.

I think we are talking about two different things but are closely related.

I'll try to clarify.

I agree that china and Russia probably have the biggest hacker groups for actually hacking into and stealing things, causing havoc or espionage.

What I was referring to is the "organised crime" version of hacking, malware, ransomware, setting up credit scams, stealing money through hacking, etc. ie, imagine it sort of like the Italian mob decided to run the organised crime of the internet and had their sticky criminal fingers in the hacking world.

The documentary I saw was referring to Bulgaria or (edit) some previous eastern block country as being the source of "organised hacking crime" in the world. They said it contributed to some massive percentage of the city/country's economy and in a round about way contributed to the GDP of the country. I can't remember the percentage, but I do remember being blown away by the number, which I'm sure was over 60% or higher.

I'll try and find the documentary, but I don't know if it's online. I hope it is, I can't emphasise enough at how blown away I was at the numbers. They even went and interviewed everyday citizens and they were part of it.

Dot Dot on TRE started hacking too. First hacker I've seen this season there.

(By the way, about Bulgaria - that's definitely bs. Software engineering is very big here (well, big on a scale of 6 million population country), but hacking is just not viable income, compared to the safety of outsourcing or joining a game dev studio (quite a bit of them here). Source - am software developer in Bulgaria. In case you are wondering about Jeezee = he is Russian)

I wanted to play 8 matches today before I had to go out, so I had limited time and zero patience for cheats or other idiots. Out of the 12 I tried to to play, 7 matches had cheats on either my team or theirs or both and 3 had complete idiots. I ended up only finishing 4 matches because I won't waste my time playing with cheats and the faceroll idiots were nearly as bad today. Out of those 4 we won none.

The only match I stayed in with a cheat was to teach him a lesson on how cheating won't help him. He was on a Jugg trying to guard east in nova. My tactic on my Sent is to nearly always transcend/camo to the nova speed buff and go straight to east. 99% of the time I get there before they can cap. 50% of the time they don't send anyone, the other half is me soloing someone to then cap it. Today I stopped the Jugg, killed him, respawns, kill him, respawns., kill... etc.. he was teleporting, floating, going through the walls to escape me.. and I'm pretty sure he was trying to lag switch too (extremely badly I might add).

Killed him 6 times till some of friends finally left Sth to try help him. Three of them still couldn't kill me, but the other two weren't cheating, no weird stuff with them and also no lag switch unless the Jugg was next to them. As soon as I killed the Jugg the switching would stop. I didn't focus his friends except to cc or mez, I just stayed on him all match to rub his grubby little nose in the dirt.

One other person on my team saw the fun I was having against 3 and came to help. The two of us just kept smashing this Jugg over and over. I think we set a record for how many times he has ever died in a WZ, lol. I didn't see him in any other matches, so hopefully he learnt his lesson. If not, he's on my naughty list and if I see him I will just focus him all match again if he is cheating.

Hacks don't make people better players, it actually ends up making them even worse than before they tried to hack because their combat skills get worse and non hackers are always improving.

How many of you long time players have seen a patch in the past come out and notice previously pvp "god like" people turn to crap over night after Bio patch the code.

It's like one minute, "I'm the king of pvp and I troll everyone in chat", to OMG what's happening, why am I dying so fast. It's because they can't really play and they turn into the biggest noobs who have ever played swtor..

I've always liked those patches when this happens, I take full advantage of roflstomping those people. Revenge is sweet. Unfortunately it's not for long. It only takes about a week for the hackers to find work arounds and then they return to trolling in chat.

But what it does do is show you who the real cheats are in the game. The ones that use them on very subtle settings to give them just the right amount of advantage without giving themselves away... and there are way more than people think. In the past I've seen whole dedicated pvp guilds reduced to tears after a patch, but come back strong a week later. As well as certain individuals who are loud mouths (they are usually the biggest hack deniers in chat or the forums) and people think are good,

Bioware have become lax in fixing these code issues over the years, so you don't see this as much anymore. But keep an eye out for it because it may happen soon with all the increase in hack reports and it also usually happens soon after they take care of the hack troll

Good luck and go hunt some hackers 😈

I wasn't sure if it was Bulgaria or not, I know it was a previous eastern block country that still had economy problems. For some reason Bulgaria stuck in my mind, sorry for that. But now I really want to find that doco so I can know the country. I know it's not Russia.

I believe WoW has a serious issue with Russian game hackers on the EU servers, or they used to. I remember reading something about them merging the Russians servers into other EU servers and the Germans, French and English were raging at Blizzard to get them back off their servers because of the rampant hacking.
