You were probably left to free cast as there is no other explanation. You got almost 32k hp and I am ready to bet the other DPS did not had that much so he was focused first. Actually, now that you say that, I remember that there's an abundance of sages and guardians... might be why Gotta love guys pulling out their sages, rushlevelling and then jumping straight into ranked once a class gets buffed.
