Ejou Posted August 19, 2012 Share Posted August 19, 2012 It depends entirely on what type of fight you mean and how you like to play? Sharpshooter is highly immobile (compared to the other 2) but can deal a high sustainable DPS. Also has n excellent burst. This is the most popular build and is useful in PvP and PvE. Sab I'm less familiar with but from what I've read, it's excellent for AoE and burst damage. This is generally a PVP build. DF is very mobile and has higher sustained DPS than SS (in my opinion) but has a long "set up" period where you apply DoTs. If yo mess up your rotation you'll do very little damage though. This is good for PvP and PvE. For levelling you should be looking at sharpshooter probably but I've seen a thread of two saying sab is decent for levelling. I leveled as Sharpshooter and played end-game for months as it, but then I switched to Saboteur, a tree that is always said only is for PVP, and now I'm getting better single-target, sustained, area, and burst damage than my Sharpshooter build. The best way to find out what is best for you is try out each tree at max level, parse your damage on some Ops dummies and in an Ops, and see what you like best. Don't think that you are only restricted to DF, SS, or Sab tree though. Some of the best DPS Gunslingers I have seen lately are running hybrid builds. It is refreshing to see a comment like this. I struggled back and forth between SS and DF (I leveled my gunslinger doing SS, and now I run DF for end game due to the mobility), but this is a lot like asking which companion is best suited for you (excepting your healer, that is!!!)...... It ALL comes down to what you are comfortable with and can play most effectively. Period. I suspect there will be disagreements, and that's what the forums are for, but you will see people running all kinds of builds that swear by their choice of build. That so many people believe their one build is best suggests to me that it is how you play your build that matters the most. That's my two cents. For Marksman/Sharpshooter, energy management isn't hard so putting point in bravado is just throwing them to the garbage. If you aren't PvP, reducing Leg Shot CD is plain unuseful. Losing 9% cunning is stupid and not using cri is even more stupid. the small healing isn't good enough in PvP and you are losing too much DPS in PvE with Vital Shot. Here is a build for PvE : http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#700rcrbbRkRrfkzzZ0cZG0oz.3 Note that the 2 points in Cover Screen are used because Diversion doesn't work on raid boss and knockback on your main ability is just bad in DPS. You'll produce more aggro than needed and knock your target out of your friends AoEs.
