@ BW Devs - SWTOR Operations Loot Systems? No /Roll Function?

In an attempt to consolidate the community's concerns on these two issues, I would ask that folks /sign this thread to bring this to BW's attention and hopefully spur a response from the BW devs that will provide a detailed explanation of:

 

1. How is the loot system for Operations supposed to work in each difficulty level? Is the 'loot bag' concept dead, and has it been replaced by something else? If so, what?

 

2. Is the current system implemented at launch 'working as intended' or are there some bugs with how it's actually working today? Are there any plans to fix the bugs if they exist and when can we anticipate these changes?

 

3. When can we anticipate the /roll function being added to the game?

 

 

As many players/guilds are venturing into/towards the end-game content, it would be helpful to have an 'official' explanation of how the loot systems in Operations are intended/designed to work, as well as having the ability to /roll for loot if groups/players prefer this method for loot distribution.

Devs, I love this game, and I am sure I share this opinion with hundreds of thousands of your subscribers, so please - look at this issue and help your customers/fans/subscribers by giving us some information on what is apparently a very hot topic.

Normal Mode - Designed for pugs and entry level raiding to get you "used" to the bosses all gear is assigned to a player in the raid after the boss is killed... It is like this because as I said before normal mode is designed for pugs and entry level raiding...This system is designed to prevent "ninja looting" in the previously mentioned pug groups...

 

As for the /roll system....yeah I agree it should be implemented into the game

*Free for all* is essentially their roll-system.

 

Everybody can loot the corpse, but the item still has to be rolled for.

 

edit: why its called free for all though is beyond me..

I understand how the loot system works for Flashpoints, my (and other players') concerns have more to do with the 'unknowns' about how Operations loot is supposed to work. I realize that items are being auto-looted in normal mode operations and there is some more control on other difficulty modes, my whole point is, there is nothing that I have been able to find 'officially' from BW about how loot was designed/programmed to work in end-game operations, and this is important to know.

 

That is what I am asking for. An explanation from BW Devs about how they intend for it to work, officially. There was an indication during Beta that they were going to use the 'loot bag' concept, but that doesn't appear to be the iteration that made it to the production version of the game.

bumping to first page to get some visibility. Come on folks, there are tons of these posts, lets consolidate and try to get a response out of the BW devs.

 

Some kind of Operations Guide explaining loot mechanics, resets, etc. would kill so many birds with one stone.

My guild did the operations the past two days on normal and hard mode. It seems like in normal mode, gear is "assigned" to players as a ward against ninja looting in pugs. I believe you can need/greed/pass on crafting materials in this mode. Commendations are just looted off the body like quest items and flashpoint commendations.

 

In hard mode, it's free roll on everything. Commendations are still distributed like in normals and flashpoints. (Note: we didn't set the loot system to master loot or anything since it was a full guild run and we knew everyone.)
