The Grey Council is a light role-playing guild which seeks to build a strong community of friends in search of grand adventures and excitement. It is, above all things, dedicated to having fun.

 

What does this mean?

 

First, the founding members of the Grey Council are friends who have gotten to know one another through gaming in various MMORPGS from DAoC to EVE to EQ2 to GW to DDO and more. Heck, some of us have been gaming together for the last decade. Some of us have known one another for nearly twenty years. We are all adult gamers: some of us are professionals with careers, some have families, and others are graduate students. Regardless, all of us have outside obligations and we recognize that there is life away from the glowing box. In fact, we think it’s pretty great and we encourage others to experience it. We believe that Star Wars: the Old Republic should be fun, not a second job.

 

Second, we enjoy role-playing and creating stories for our characters. In our experience, however, we’ve found that definitions of role-playing vary wildly and are often synonymous with drama. Consequently, we consider ourselves “light rp”: we don’t demand that people maintain their personas at all times and we figure that guild chat will be out of character. We do ask that members act in a fashion appropriate to their character when dealing with folks outside of the guild. Furthermore, we expect everyone who joins us to understand that this is not going to be a “hardcore” role-playing guild. Depending on members’ interest, we may plan role-playing events and other such story-based activities.

 

Third, we (like everyone else) want to see small and large group content, experience the challenge such content provides, and pick up some of that nifty gear found in such places. With the understanding that having fun is paramount, we believe that patience, encouragement, and working as a team is much more likely to achieve success than barking orders at our teammates, being rude, dismissive, or generally unpleasant. However, in order for these kinds of adventures to be fun for everyone, it’s vital that the group leader has the attention of the entire group. Consequently, people who act like boors or ignore instructions are not welcome.

 

Fourth, it pains us that we even have to make this statement; however, people being people, we have no choice. In short, we will not tolerate bigotry, hate speech, or immature attitudes. Please check that at the airlock.

 

Finally, we hope that this gives you an idea of who we are, what motivates us, and what we want when we game. We hope that if you’ve read this far, you’ll want to join us. Our application can be found on our homepage.

 

In a nutshell, we're a light RP guild who believes in fun first. If we go into an Ops and get obliterated for whatever reason, if we had fun then it was worth it. We are open to ALL classes and ALL factions as we have an Imp side guild as well (A Council of Shadows).
