Official Q&A Thread for June 15th Blog Post

  • Dev Post

Hello and welcome to the official Q&A thread for questions to be answered for the June 15th, 2012 Q&A blog post.

As a reminder, we’ll be starting up a weekly Q&A blog series in which we will select questions from the community and post answers to them every Friday. We’ll have the next set of answers next week on June 15th, 2012, but before that, we need your questions!

Please use this thread to ask your question (one per community member, so make it count!). On Monday at 2PM CDT (8PM BST/9PM CEST/5AM AEST), we will close this thread, select the questions, and get answers to them for Friday’s blog post.

In order to increase the chances of having your specific question answered and to help us keep the thread manageable, here are some guidelines on asking questions:

  1. Keep your question relatively short. Background details are welcome, but don’t go overboard.
  2. Please actually ask a question. We want to hear constructive feedback elsewhere in the Forums.
  3. Use common sense – we cannot answer everything, especially on far-reaching content.
  4. This should go without saying, but be respectful.
  5. Limit yourself to one question in this thread, please. You can always ask another question next week!
  6. And finally, as a reminder, this is not a discussion thread. Do not comment about what somebody else has posted.

As development plans are always subject to change, questions about future features will often get vague answers which can be repetitive and sometimes annoying. With that in mind, the development team is more interested in questions about current in-game features or systems, or questions about why development decisions were made. You’re still welcome to ask questions about future features and we’ll continue to answer them where appropriate – just expect the occasional ‘soon.’

Any other posts apart from questions in the thread will be removed.

With that being said, please ask away!

Many guardian tanks want to know what the reason for the DPS nerf was on 1.3. (specifically on hilt-strike ,guardian slash, and saber mastery when in soresu forum)

I currently do around just under 600 DPS on boss fights currently with mostly black-hole / campaign gear with defense/shield augments.

I bought the Neutral Galactic Market for my legacy/ship because I thought I would be able to sell my items to both sides and therefore increase revenue. However, the neutral GTN is actually a completely separate GTN. As it is currently, it is extremely expensive and has no real benefit because currently so few players have access to it. What is going to happen to this legacy reward as the Hutt's take over the GTN?

Why are the Convenience perks (Summonable Mailbox, Repair droid and respecialisation) per character rather than for the entire legacy? Also, why are they so expensive on the test server? because i see myself becoming broke every time i create a new character and buying the character perks to increase class story experience. When will more character slots be added per server? The Legacy system - being server-specific - discourages rolling on multiple servers, so people who like to play alts are currently out of luck. I want to play every class and some classes multiple times, but that is currently impossible if you want them all in the same Legacy.

In the 50-bracket there is a great disparity (AKA roflstompin') between teams in Warzones when one team is consisting of PUGS versus a team containing of one or more subgroupings. Are there plans to remedy this somehow, for example the ability to queue in a "singles only"-queue? Edited by Veniras

There has been little to no word at all regarding social events being implemented in the game. Will players ever get to see fan favorite games like Pazaak, Swoop racing, Sabaac and the likes in the game? Edited by Darth_Victus

Why is it that for Assassins you can use Electrostaff's but you cannot use any charges with it limiting your weapon ability with it, unlike the warrior who can still use each stance with the vibroswords. it would be nice to be able to change my double-bladed lightsaber for an electrostaff and still be able to use all the charges ie surging charge or lightning charge.

In last weeks announcement, we learned that the level cap will be increased later this year. With this change in mind, will any changes be made to the current PvE endgame? For example, will the difficulties for Hard Mode Flashpoints and Operations be increased to match the new level? If not, could you explain why?

In 1.3 we'll be able to add augment slots to about every piece of gear we can come across and there will be various tiers of said augment slots. What will become of the augment slots we already have in our gear via critical crafting? More importantly, what tiers will those pre-1.3 augment slots be and how will it be determined?

As someone who has little fondness for the Expanded Universe a lot of the recent content, while good, doesn't feel very Star Wars-y. Zombie plagues and interdimensional monsters feel like a diversion from the core story of Empire vs. Republic. The Hutt Cartel takeover seems more appropriate for the universe. Any insight on which direction we can expect to see more of?

Do expertise stats factor into Open World PvP combat encounters? Or is it only relative in Warzones? If so, my companions have expertise on their gear as well, do they benefit from the damage boost/reduction/healing increases afforded by Expertise during a PvP encounter?

With the Character transfer system starting 12th June seemingly more like a unofficial merge - when can we expect a more free moving character transfer service where, as has been mentioned many times by Bioware themselves we can join up our legacy's spread across several servers, this includes PVE to PVP etc and EU to US etc, enabling people to join up with old friends or move to a server that matches their play styles better

While the upcoming server transfer functionality on 6/12 is awesome and should alleviate the player population being so spread out among servers, I am curious if there has been any thought given to transferring characters between accounts (with the same billing information) as well?

For a specific example case say two siblings or an adult couple have been using one account in the same home and now have decided it is time for a second account. Each of the two people have leveled characters, and contributed to the legacy. If one person wanted to move their characters to the new account rather than starting over, as long as both accounts have the same billing information, would this ever be possible? Would legacy level and unlocks be transferred as well, or would that need to be forfeit?

How will you handle people who have been in the game since the first batch of early access, but now must transfer to a different server, losing their character names? It seems like a slap in the face to your most loyal fans.

With the Server Transfer Service on the near horizon a question has been raised about Origin to Destination relationship.

A huge issue is the drop-off in player acftivity after a specific period in time during the day/evening. Is consideration being given to servers that may be "East Coast - PvP" but would be better suited for "West Coast - PvP"?

Saber of Exar Kun is more active on WC hours due to player population. We would definitely benefit from an influx (hint hint) of WC-PvP players or a general change in our server to become a consolidated WC server.

Once the group finder is in TOR may reach the point every MMO reaches where queuing for a group takes a long time because there are not enough tanks. Do you have a plan prepared for in case this crisis happens? Edited by DarthZaul

I have seen reports that if you recruit a friend to play swtor and they sub for a month you get a mount in game as a thank you....

Will this also apply to players that have used the recruit a friend pre 1.3?
