Request: Existing NPC only clothing converted to orange schematics/social gear.

If you have ever explored the VIP lounge on the fleet you will come across some amazing clothing on NPC's that is currently unavailable to players in game. To view this yourself travel to the VIP lounge log out to the character screen and log back in to have all the NPC's loaded.

Some of this clothing is amazingly well detailed and fits the Star Wars setting much much better than the new gear we receive with every content push. I posted screenshots of the gear below so you can see what items caught my eye.

I propose that they add these existing models into custom schematics for players or as social gear. This will increase player immersion without being terribly time consuming for the limited dev staff.

We've been told that clothing modeling and art department work is the most difficult and time consuming so lead time for new items can take months. It's completed work, in game currently, and low hanging fruit. Please make it happen.

Bottom line, everyone benefits with content added that already exists.

I've posted screenshots below.

Smuggler style outfits.

There are two smuggler outfits that look really cool. The first features an eye patch like item and a really interesting back section.

Front: http://img528.imageshack.us/img528/3853/smuggler.png

Back: http://img811.imageshack.us/img811/2286/smugglerback.png

The second smuggler outfit has a red/while theme with an interesting and unique jacket.

Front: http://img846.imageshack.us/img846/2591/smug2.png

Back: http://img402.imageshack.us/img402/961/smug2back.png

Jedi Style Outfits

There are three jedi style outfits. The first is similar to the legacy gear but with the shoulders pieces added and the hood down.

Front: http://img831.imageshack.us/img831/5721/jedi.png

Back: http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/5339/jediback.png

The second outfit is incredibly well detailed. Though the color scheme is probably better suited for Link or an elf it has potential.

Front: http://img849.imageshack.us/img849/4373/jedi2i.png

Back: http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/4589/jedi2back.png

The last Jedi style outfit is consular based. Simple and elegant.

Front: http://img819.imageshack.us/img819/6067/consular.png

Trooper Outfit

This is my favorite trooper outfit I've seen in game. The blue/white combination just rocks and it has no annoying box on the back of the armor. This would be the only armor my trooper would need for the lifetime of the game.

Front: http://img705.imageshack.us/img705/791/bluetrooper.png

Back: http://img839.imageshack.us/img839/7762/bluetrooperback.png

Miscellaneous Outfits

This outfit is incredible. Well detailed and would look good on anyone in any profession.

Front: http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/7531/awesomeku.png

Another random outfit. Could be an interesting guild uniform.

Front: http://img713.imageshack.us/img713/6153/miscl.png

The band. Not bad.

Front: http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/570/pubband.png

Back: http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/4531/pubband2.png

Agent Style Outfits

No other class got screwed as much as the agent. The absolute best armor is on some NPC's in the VIP room. The headpieces are classic agent and the rest of the suit screams infiltration team. This needs to be in game, I'd even make an agent to use it.

Front: http://img690.imageshack.us/img690/4848/agentej.png

Alternate chest piece: http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/5702/agent2.png

Another agent outfit.

Front: http://img545.imageshack.us/img545/1074/agent3.png

Back: http://img844.imageshack.us/img844/676/agent3back.png

Sith Style Outfit

This one is nice and simple, with a great color scheme:

Front: http://img706.imageshack.us/img706/4397/sorcz.png

Miscellaneous Outfits

The ultimate imperial trooper. This needs to be in game asap.

Front: http://img853.imageshack.us/img853/8343/stormtrooperv.png

Back: http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/9827/stormtrooper2.png

A noble man, good for RP.

Front: http://img837.imageshack.us/img837/6657/noble.png

Imperial Band.

Front and Back: http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/6826/impband.png

Have you spotted any outfits you'd like to see in game? Post below and show us. If you support this post here and let bioware know. Thanks for looking!

The second "smuggler" jacket is absolutely something I'd dress my Gunslinger in -- and if that means a visit to the cash shop, I won't quibble.

To be honest, that is one of the things I think F2P and the cash shop will be good for -- access to cosmetic items which may not change game dynamics, but which allow a wider variety of style. And yes, I like that and don't mind spending a little pocket money on it now and again on top of what I pay for play time.

I'd be fine with these ending up in the FTP store I just want them in game period.

I guess the point is that they had talented people that created some great Starwarsy outfits that we should have had from the beginning. Worse is that these were relegated to NPCs that most people will never see without a relog highlighting the poor decision making pre-launch that has continued through the mess of current tiered gear that doesn't in anyway reflect the star wars IP.

The consular trainer ilum rep base has an awsom shadow robe on im desperate for.

The joke that's consular end game gear just isn't funny. There's so much cool gear at 1-49 but then it seems they gave the end game design to a bunch of 3 year olds and carnival designers.

Yeah.. i also feel they went way too overboard with gear after about level 30-40 and really should have developed gear more along the look of the lower level. Add a few armor paddings here and there, some more detailed additions, etc..

Basicly.. what they did to make NPC's look unique. More unique than PC's actually..

One of the NPCs on Alderaan has one of my favourite sets. I believe she's part of the world mission line and her name starts with a K. I think it was Kaikana. Her blue outfit is so awesome.

EDIT: Found her on torhead with screenshots to boot: http://www.torhead.com/npc/7ESo56e/keikana-herot#screenshots

Wow! I do like that.

Luke's Return of the Jedi outfit is my favorite in all the star wars movies. Simple and looks awesome with the top slightly open and the white part exposed. All the books after had jedi in mostly combat suits and I'd like to see something similar.

I know. My Shadow looks like she's stepped out of a bad production of The Mikado. Sages have it worse - at least mine doesn't look like a pastiche of papal robes. Considering you spend a long time at end game in Tionese then Columi then Rakata, I'd really like it if there were more options. (And yes, I know you can take the mods and put them in orange gear but that's expensive and you lose the set bonus.)

- First Jedi pic is the Legacy set - one of the two, that resemble the knight on load screen and from CG trailers

- First trooper - the blue / white one - is the Black Talon heavy chest piece, which unifies with white overall.

The others I have no idea where to find.

Neither of these statements is correct. The legacy gear is different and does not have a hood down option or shoulder pieces.

BT is imperial only.

.

It's actually the Battlelord set. A level 40ish orange set that drops randomly on Correlia. Looks exactly like the set the dude is always wearing in the splash screens. It is like the legacy set but is greenish/gold tint with shoulder pads.

The first smuggler looks like one of the pvp armors doesn't it? Been a while since I looked at those but pretty sure something very similar to it is available.

The blue set the trooper is wearing looks just like the Bounty Hunter set that drops from Black Talon. I don't know if there's a way to get it Republic side, but it's in the game.

This is incorrect. The BT piece is shown here: http://tor.zamimg.com/torhead/uploads/screenshots/214.jpg

Please notice the substantial differences. Not sure why people are thinking this is the same piece, the only thing in common is a blue white scheme.

  • Dev Post
I talked to Principal Lead Systems Designer Damion Schubert and showed him this thread. He liked the feedback here and will take a look to see if there are any of these we can incorporate into our plans. This isn't a promise that we can get them in, but we'd love to if we can. If you have any other NPC-only appearances that you're really fond of, post them in this thread and we'll keep watching it for your suggestions!

Actually a couple of those are already in-game. The first Smuggler outfit you link is just a recolor of the TD-17A Spider Chest piece coupled with Drelliad style Pants and Gunslinger's Boots, Belt and Gloves. The eye piece actually looks like a cybernetic piece available to Agents and Smugglers. The first Jedi outfit is a recolor of the higher level Jedi gear. Not that I wouldn't mind have these color options, but if they added dyes (as they should) we wouldn't need to have completely new sets.

In addition I would like to request that more of the lower level armors be added as craftable orange gear. Stuff like Rusted Droid Bit armor (for Troopers and Bounty Hunters)and Fa'thra Clan outfit (for Smugglers and Agents). Stuff like the Ithorian Technicians outfit (for Consulars).

I would also like the correct versions of the Republic Trooper uniform (not just a duplicate the Hardened Plastiform stuff) and Agent's outfit (not the Poison Pit stuff) and the Aspiring Knight's gear and Hydraulic Press stuff.

And yeah, more of the lower level helmets that we see the NPCs wearing all over Ord Mantel and Hutta.

There's more but I can't think of it now.
