JrTrekkie Posted April 12, 2012 Share Posted April 12, 2012 (edited) Hey guys, On my server, we have started doing a lot of server-wide RP on the planet Voss. Last night held a significantly large RP night with about 40 people showing up. During this event, me and my clan were hired as peacekeepers by the Voss, and we encountered a problem with some republic troopers. A long story short, the republic troopers decided they were above Voss law, and open fired on us (me specifically). After a lengthy discussion where an all out fire fight was drawing close, we managed to calm the situation and resolve the matter. Now, I personally am a little confused on the details of Voss law. I have attempted to google the information but it is surprisingly hard to find. Can anyone give me a link to a forum or webpage that goes into detail about Voss *lore*? Much appreciated. JrTrekkie Posted April 12, 2012 Author Share Posted April 12, 2012 Doesn't work like that unfortunately, the republic jeoprodised their relations with the three leaders by shooting me, it's a shame that it won't impact our server as much as it would have done if the Voss leaders were player driven characters. I'm still searching, all I can think of is running the class quests on Voss on an alt, I know the IA quest line had a bit more detail on the culture than I've found on swtor.wiki or other resource sites. No, the Gormak are the ones with the cannon. *SPOILERS* Going through the quests on Voss does actually explain a lot of their lore. Above all else the Voss follow the advice of the Mystics who are the highest caste in Voss society. The mystics can have extremely accurate premonitions of the future and as such there is no political in-fighting in Voss culture, and no civil wars/disputes. Because the mystics can see the future the best course of action for the Voss people can always easily be decided by their interpreters however the choice between allying between the Empire and Republic is proving difficult for them but that issue gets resolved as you quest through the planet. The Gormak are what the Voss once were before the evolved into the mystical race we see today. They are violent because of the nightmare lands and the "dark one" that resides in the deep places of planet Voss. The dark one feeds off of the Gormak's hatred to gain power and the nightmare lands turn that hatred/power into reality. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I think peacekeepers was used in that context to be a nicer way of saying guys who will protect the voss by shooting the crap out of everyone who attacks them:P so bodyguard would be a better word. But dragging a body away from a Republic Embassy while refusing to answer basic questions that are repeatedly asked, claiming to be Vossian Security Personnel and yet refusing to wait until the Voss can confirm that as part of an RP event, will, however, have that effect on a person. The little details, eh? and on a side note..being ex military, you legally still wouldnt be able to shoot him even if they were taking a body away, the best you could do was forcefully restrain them and retain the body in republic custody. If the citizens turned hostil depending on ROE you may be authorized to engage with lethal force, but likely only in self defence. it would be best to allow them to take the corpse but follow them back to their location with a larger force AND an interpreter and then demand the body and to know what the hell they were doing:P Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The little details, such as the fact we informed you the body being carried was a person who was a man close to death and was being taken for treatment, and it didn't come from your embassy at all. Two facts which we pointed out numerous times and that you refused to accept. I explained the situation, yet you attempted to detain myself and the medic I was escorting, then shot me as I left. There's also the matter that we were hired by IC leaders of the planet, and you were outside of your jurisdiction, we were not obligated to answer your persuing questions, and as I said if you had heeded our previous explainations of the situation then all of it could have been avoided. Well, if you were calm instead of insulting and asked for Republic medical assistance instead of trying to move unknown body from the terrain of Republic Embassy things could go different. I agree with Lilly - had the Mandolorians been co-operative, it would never have happened. Your IC claim was somewhat cheapened also as you were unwilling to wait for it to be colaborated. As for the Ex-military advice, I can take that on board, but I acted in the only way I had avaliable. If I had a stun-gun I'd have used it, but as a trooper and not a peacetime enforcer, it wasn't avaliable. The non-lethal shot stopped you leaving, which was the desired effect, until the full extent of things could be investigated. Which, when they were, everything was fine. The full report has been logged and you can request it from Zerrak, and the matter's concluded. There've been plenty of other incidents on Voss, such as a Lord torturing his student over the edge of a cliff in plain sight of everyone. Dragging it into the open like this, however, I think isn't helpful to anyone. As previous posts have stated - there's no formal stance. So let's make one as an RP community and not air our laundry. I asked for information on Voss law, giving a brief description of what happened, stating no information about who was involved or the aggressive behaviour shown on your behave before things escalated. In fact, the only reason we are discussing this is because of you. More on topic, could write it off as IC confusion and paranoia or something. While technically I'm sure the Voss wouldn't be thrilled about their guests pulling guns in their city. Also, come join Thrask Ulgo where Voss RP is booming, troopers are lawless and mercs want to save lives rather then take them!
