Greatest Force User of All Time

Highly doubt it.

Not to mention Luke survived the emperor's force lighting for quite a long time.. considering mace flew out the window in like 3 seconds.

Palpatine was just playing with him, like a cat do with a mouse. He could have fried Luke quickly if he wanted to. But you could see in his face how much he enjoyed torturing Luke after Luke refused to join.

My vote falls between 2, a Fallen Jedi and a Dark Lord of the Sith.

Revan or Plagueis

Revan? - damn what other force user loses his memories only to gain it all back in spades? and more than once...damn

Plagueis - died in his sleep..So? Achilles anyone? Seriously this guy could manipulate the force to make and unmake life...show me anyone that can be a GOD! like Plagueis..exactly

I can't believe only 3 people have said Luke....

Luke is canonically the most powerful Force User.

Look at his feats.

1. Luke also destroyed a group of hot-wired battle droids just by waving his hand, subtly displacing their master servos and causing the self-destruction of the group of droids.

2. Luke was able to knock down a crippled AT-AT by pressing against it with the Force; he also absorbed the initial cannon blasts from the AT-AT, before deflecting the rest with his lightsaber.

3. During the time when he was re-creating the Jedi Order and was searching for potential candidates, he walked on lava while still throbbing with the Force after defeating a Fireworm living in the lava just moments before.

4. During the Black Fleet Crisis, Luke used the Force to rebuild Darth Vader's old fortress on Coruscant.[92] In addition, Luke later used the Force to crush the rebuilt fortress of Darth Vader to rubble, shattering the building piece by piece and throwing it into the oceans of Coruscant

5. Luke used the Force to create an illusion over his face in order to disguise his identity.[91] After the Black Fleet Crisis, with new found knowledge from the White Current, Luke removed the Teljkon Vagabond from view using the Force; however he admitted that he did not know how long it would last.[94] After the Black Fleet Crisis, Luke taught the combined White Current/the Force illusion skill to his more experienced students, which would help shield the entire moon Yavin 4 from intruders during the Yuuzhan Vong War.

6. Luke prepared himself for death in such a way that he would become a Force ghost.[95] In the middle of a massive midday meal food fight at the Jedi Praxeum's mess hall, Luke instantly froze every morsel, drop and item, solid and liquid in midair as if trapped in time

7. During the Battle of Dantooine during the Yuuzhan Vong War, Luke tricked a vehicle's dovin basals into colliding its own black hole against itself by using the Force to hold the void against the pull of the dovin basals; then reversing the direction of his own pull, adding it to the pull of the dovin basals, so that the void would collide against the spine of the vehicle

8.Luke reached a state of Oneness.

9. Luke used the Force to generate a lifelike copy of the Jade Shadow to fool the attacking dartships.

10. , Luke used the Force to call all the Jedi across the galaxy to Ossus to make the announcement of him taking on the role as Grand Master of the Jedi Orde

11.Luke was able to resist the combined Force power of the Colony and triumph. When UnuThul attempted to Force Push the Grand Master, Luke rooted himself in the heart of the Force so strongly that it was said that he had become the very essence of the immovable object, and that not even the black hole at the center of the galaxy could move him.[138]

12. During the Battle of Kashyyyk, Luke shut his presence down after being fired upon by Jaina to make it seem like he died. Later while Ben was in the Embrace of Pain, Jacen gave Ben back his ability to sense the Force temporarily and Ben felt the life force of his father and realized Luke was shutting himself down to everyone except Ben, something no other Jedi has been able to do

13. Right before the Battle of Fondor, Luke made Caedus "see" a fleet of ships, causing him to panic in front of his navy. Luke directed it right at Caedus in general, to show him what he could do and also to scare Caedus.[146] Luke revealed to Jaina Solo that he was capable of perceiving Shatterpoints, a very rare Force ability, and taught this ability to Jaina

14. Skywalker learned the "lightning-rod" technique Ayna-seff, which he use to safely travel through the Kathol Rift.

15. Luke was taught the Fold space ability which allowed him to teleport objects

Now tell me, he isn't the most powerful force user ever besides Abeloth.

Palpatine. End of discussion for for powers, for light saber combat, for just about everything.

Force Storm? How has no one mentioned this?

Not the lame one in game, the one that spawns a BLACK HOLE.

it can eat planets, entire star fleets, transport people through time and space, send people into the past, future, from LIGHTYEARS away.

Black Hole > rock, paper, scissor, skywalker(s) et al.

Luke tried to stop his force storm alone and could not. It took a combined effort with Leia to turn it against Palpatine.

Or how about controlling the force enough to cloud the force sight of The ENTIRE Jedi Order. Literally blinding their ability to see the future, all without breaking a sweat.

For god sake, Palpatine is known for having access to every possible force power, and conceiving new ones at will. C'mon people!

Darth Sidious was considered to be one of the greatest Force users of all time, described as a "Black hole of the Dark Side."[17] Palpatine was a master of Force lightning and was known to use this both as a lethal attack, and as a way of torturing his enemies.[3] In addition, he could use this power to light up the surface of a an entire planet.[118] He was also extremely skilled with telekinesis; during his battle with Yoda, he levitated several Senate pods simultaneously, including the one he was standing on, with incredible dexterity and precision.[9] Likewise, he was skilled enough with telekinesis that he was also able to remove Luke Skywalker's restraints while barely even lifting his finger when meeting face to face on the Death star.[3] Sidious was a master of Force speed, implementing it into his fighting style and allowing him to move so quickly that his opponents would often find themselves unable to react in time.[17] Darth Sidious also possessed the power of Force Flight.[80]

Sidious was also the only known being capable of producing a Force storm of his own power, a dark side technique which he himself discovered. Using his anger and his will, Palpatine was able to rip the space-time continuum and create a hyperspace wormhole. It should be noted that even though he claimed to be able to conjure a storm simply by willing it, by his own admission he was not able to fully control it. By 10 ABY, however, the Emperor believed himself fully capable of controlling a Force storm, and it took Luke and Leia's combined efforts through the light side to turn his dark side creation against him.[119]

Another very dangerous and advanced Force technique utilized by the Emperor was the ability to use the Force to transfer his essence, as well as the essences of others, which he used to survive death on at least two occasions.[4] He had a supply of clone bodies ready to house his spirit until the last one succumbed to his own corrupting power and the sabotage of his subordinates.[120] He also, when taking over a host's body, overwrote the soul and personality of the being to fully dominate over it. He used this power not only as a pathway to immortality, but also as a particularly cruel and sadistic form of torture; it is known that he killed and resurrected Imperial engineer Bevel Lemelisk seven times as punishment for the destruction of the first and second Death Stars.[13]

Among the Emperor's powers was the ability to channel the collective life essences of billions to sustain himself and his Dark Side Adepts; his victims would live in a dream-like state while his own power grew. The entire population of Byss lived under this spell until the planet's destruction by the Galaxy Gun.[121] It was mentioned by Luke Skywalker that the Emperor's very voice had a hypnotic lull to it whenever he was outwardly projecting his dark side Force powers. Darth Sidious was highly adept at foreseeing the future, often utilizing the power to see his plots to fruition, ensuring that all would proceed as he had envisioned.[3] Furthermore, Sidious was a master of Force stealth, able to hide his dark nature from the Jedi Order for many years before allowing himself to be discovered. Sidious was so powerful in the dark side that he was able to cloud the Jedi's vision, making it exceedingly difficult to predict future events.[8]

Upon spending decades immersing himself in the many facets of the Force, it was believed that Palpatine had a mastery over all known powers, previously unknown powers, and could create new abilities on a whim.[106] By the time of his final death, he had become a nexus of the dark side capable of tearing apart the fabric of space.[119]

Luke Skywalker – Luke is the most powerful Force User we have ever seen. He is head and shoulders above all others at this time. The amazing things that he has been able to do dwarf everyone else, and also we know that he has the potential Darth Vader had but didn’t destroy his body the way Vader did.

Darth Sidious – Emperor Palpatine was, according to canon, the most powerful Sith ever, with the exception of Vader if his power was realized. As such we have to give him a high position on this list. Palpatine was defeated by Luke in a test of both Lightsaber combat and Force abilities though and was found lacking. Thus I put him right below Luke in terms of sheer power.

Yoda – I met him in a swamp down on Dagobah, where it bubbles all the time like a giant carbonated soda… Y-O-D-A Yoda. We have to give it up for the muppet master who taught us all that size matters not. Able to match Darth Sidious blow for blow, and even overpower him in a pinch Yoda only “lost” to Sidious due to his small stature. As such Yoda must rank in on this list.

Darth Vader – Vader was said to be somewhere around 80% of Sidious’ power, and he would have been stronger if he had not ignored the benefit of the high ground. While he is no slouch, he simply can’t rank any higher than this on my personal list.

Nomi Sunrider – I have to give Nomi her proper respect. She is a little known character outside of the high EU circles but she is one bad mamma jamma. Nomi Sunrider was able to cut a Dark Sider off from the Force until they completely repented, a feat normally requiring a whole group of Jedi Masters. Had she been the main character in KoTOR II she would have mopped the floor with Sion and Nihilus with ease.

Hardcore fans will note a couple of names are left off this list, the reason for that is because there are specifically two I did not consider as valid entries. That is because one is a planet and we have no clue what the other is supposed to be. That would be the planet Zonema Sekot and the creature known as Abeloth. I don’t count them under the general term of Force User.

1. Luke Skywalker - The only thing that bothers me is I say his name and see "Mark Hamill," who I personally think looks ridiculous.

2. Sidious + Abeloth

After this it's a mash up of Yoda, Nomi Sunrider, Ulic Qel Droma, Exar Kun, Nihilus, Revan, Plagueis, Vader, and various others. I really feel I should put Exar Kun right under Sidious and Abeloth. It took deception, Nomi Sunrider, and roughly 6000 Jedi to create the Wall of Light to purge Yavin 4 and Exar Kun of his physical body, bounding his spirit in his temple forever. Not enough to kill him completely.

He was considered a prettyboy until his car crash where they had to "reconstruct" parts his face in surgery. Besides who didn't look ridiculous in the late 70's and the 80's ;)

On January 11, 1977, one day before he was set to shoot one of the final scenes needed for Star Wars, Hamill was in a car accident in which he fractured his nose and left cheekbone,[3] which required seven hours of surgery. As a result of the accident, a double was used for the landspeeder pickup shots.

That part never made any sense to me in the movie. I mean they had both been all over the place during that fight, both of them had the high ground multiple times. And then after that wild fight, suddenly the high ground was the major difference.

They had been doing acrobatic moves and blocked saberblows from all kinds of angles and positions, during flip-flops and what have you. Then suddenly that jump was an "impossible" move to succed for Vader. Made no sense to me.

You do know that Luke has actually created a blackhole out a Yuuzan Vhong Vehicle. Luke has the strongest force push, crushing AT-AT's in one push. Is the best duelist in the entire SW Universe. Mastering all 7 forms and creating his own unofficial one. Luke rebuilt an entire fortress with the force and then crushed it using the force.

He scared Darth Caedus by making an image of an entire fleet, even though it was all fake. He was a master illusionist.

See I can quote Wookieepedia too.

During the Battle of Yavin, Luke managed to destroy the first Death Star by letting the Force tell him when to fire his proton torpedoes, while traveling at very high speeds, and not knowing the distance to the port, and having no previous knowledge of proton torpedoes and their abilities. One should note that Luke only had little training with the Force at this time.[7]

Without any guidance except a handbook left by Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luke Skywalker successfully built his first lightsaber, merely three years after he was first introduced to the Force, and undergoing formal training for less than a year. Only a short time after being given a lightsaber by Obi-Wan, Luke was able to instinctively block several blaster bolts fired in rapid succession by a remote, despite his lack of prolonged formal training.

In the battle between the Singing Mountain Clan and the Nightsisters, Luke was almost fatally wounded by a Force attack by Gethzerion and a deep fall, but regenerated in the span of mere hours.[27]

The Grand Master was frighteningly proficient in the use of Force speed, often using the Force to increase the speed of his lightsaber strikes, as seen during his duels with Yuuzhan Vong Supreme Overlord Shimrra Jamaane and UnuThul. With guidance from the voice of Ben Kenobi, Luke gave in to the Force and found that time seemed to slow down considerably, allowing him to dodge Guri's attack and defeat her with ease. Luke would later remark to his students at the Jedi Praxeum that he didn't feel in control of this power and instead felt that it was the Force guiding his actions.

Luke was also skilled in the use of Force Jump, using it to avoid being frozen in carbonite during his duel with Darth Vader.

Luke safely landed himself, Isolder, and Isolder's fighter from a free fall drop from orbit with the Force.[27] During the Battle of Dathomir, Luke flew the Millennium Falcon single-handedly using only the Force, manipulating its controls and operating it with a skill that not even a full crew could manage.[27]

Luke also destroyed a group of hot-wired battle droids just by waving his hand, subtly displacing their master servos and causing the self-destruction of the group of droids.[10][165] This Force power was first manifested by Jedi Master Arca Jeth during the Great Droid Revolution. Even then, with proper instruction, it was a difficult power to master. However, this power apparently came naturally to Luke.

Luke was able to knock down a crippled AT-AT by pressing against it with the Force; he also absorbed the initial cannon blasts from the AT-AT, before deflecting the rest with his lightsaber.[10][165]

During the time when he was re-creating the Jedi Order and was searching for potential candidates, he walked on lava while still throbbing with the Force after defeating a Fireworm living in the lava just moments before. Luke's performance impressed Gantoris so much that he decided to become Luke's apprentice.[15]

During the Eye of Palpatine incident, Luke subconsciously used his Force powers to overcome a particularly vicious form of brainwashing.[30]

During the Death Seed Plague, Luke used the Force to communicate with the sentient crystals Tsils. It is important to remember that the more dissimilar the type of mind, the more difficult it is to communicate with via the Force.[89]

During the Black Fleet Crisis, Luke used the Force to rebuild Darth Vader's old fortress on Coruscant.[92] In addition, Luke later used the Force to crush the rebuilt fortress of Darth Vader to rubble, shattering the building piece by piece and throwing it into the oceans of Coruscant.[94]

Luke Skywalker was one of the most powerful Force users of his time.

While searching for the kidnapped Solo children, Luke used the Force to create an illusion over his face in order to disguise his identity.[91] After the Black Fleet Crisis, with new found knowledge from the White Current, Luke removed the Teljkon Vagabond from view using the Force; however he admitted that he did not know how long it would last.[94] After the Black Fleet Crisis, Luke taught the combined White Current/the Force illusion skill to his more experienced students, which would help shield the entire moon Yavin 4 from intruders during the Yuuzhan Vong War.

After the Senate Building was bombed, Luke stood among the wreckage and was able to divine that his former apprentice, Brakiss, was involved somehow.[95] During the Kueller crisis, Luke prepared himself for death in such a way that he would become a Force ghost.[95] In the middle of a massive midday meal food fight at the Jedi Praxeum's mess hall, Luke instantly froze every morsel, drop and item, solid and liquid in midair as if trapped in time. After scolding the students, he left and with a brief right hand gesture, released the food to fall to the floor for the students to clean up.[81] During the Battle of the Jedi Praxeum Luke used the Force to bolster his students engaged in battle.[113]

In the years before the Yuuzhan Vong War, Luke trained to overcome the Force-Blindness caused by Ysalamiri.[121]

During the Battle of Dantooine during the Yuuzhan Vong War, Luke tricked a vehicle's dovin basals into colliding its own black hole against itself by using the Force to hold the void against the pull of the dovin basals; then reversing the direction of his own pull, adding it to the pull of the dovin basals, so that the void would collide against the spine of the vehicle.[123] During the Battle of Yuuzhan'tar, Luke reached a state of Oneness. He was described as a maelstrom of luminous Force energy, against which there was no shelter. So calm and focused was he that his actions were not interrupted by any thought. Luke merged with the Force to such a degree that the Jedi Master did not seem to be there, physically or as an individual personality. Luke's control over his lightsaber blade was so great that he was said to might as well have been wielding ten, or twenty lightsabers against the Vong.[11] The Solo twins were astounded seeing their uncle in such a state. Luke used a powerful and unique ability of the Force related to his signature green Electric Judgment in the chamber of Shimrra Jamaane. This technique had been described to look like "green sparks," which instantly killed the Slayers.[11]

During the early days of the Dark Nest Crisis, Luke used the Force to generate a lifelike copy of the Jade Shadow to fool the attacking dartships. This usage of the Force was so extreme, Luke burnt out and his face was temporarily sunken and shriveled like Palpatine's.[131] A year later. Luke applied the same trick on the DR919a, but by then Luke already mastered the technique and would no longer burn out.[139]

Toward the end of the Swarm War, Luke used the Force to call all the Jedi across the galaxy to Ossus to make the announcement of him taking on the role as Grand Master of the Jedi Order and to issue his views about the role of the Order to his Jedi.[138]

While battling UnuThul, Luke was able to resist the combined Force power of the Colony and triumph. When UnuThul attempted to Force Push the Grand Master, Luke rooted himself in the heart of the Force so strongly that it was said that he had become the very essence of the immovable object, and that not even the black hole at the center of the galaxy could move him.[138]

On only the trip back to Hapes after Luke dueled Lumiya on Terephon, Luke used a Jedi healing trance to heal most of the damage caused by Lumiya.

Like his father, Luke was an expert pilot.

During the Battle of Kashyyyk, Luke shut his presence down after being fired upon by Jaina to make it seem like he died. Later while Ben was in the Embrace of Pain, Jacen gave Ben back his ability to sense the Force temporarily and Ben felt the life force of his father and realized Luke was shutting himself down to everyone except Ben, something no other Jedi has been able to do.[145] Right before the Battle of Fondor, Luke made Caedus "see" a fleet of ships, causing him to panic in front of his navy. Luke directed it right at Caedus in general, to show him what he could do and also to scare Caedus.[146] Luke revealed to Jaina Solo that he was capable of perceiving Shatterpoints, a very rare Force ability, and taught this ability to Jaina.[147]

In 43.5 ABY, Skywalker learned the "lightning-rod" technique Ayna-seff, which he use to safely travel through the Kathol Rift. After spending time with the Aing-Tii, Luke was taught the Fold space ability which allowed him to teleport objects.[150] Luke was able to use the Blood Trail technique, which he used to track down the Sith apprentice Vestara Khai.[151] During the battle in the Fallanassi village, when Abeloth had Luke in a deadly embrace, Luke opened himself to the Force as much as possible, drawing on his love for his son Ben, his lost wife Mara, and the entire Jedi Order. The Light Side rushed into him, his cells began to burst with power and his skin gave off a golden glow. Luke's power apparently harmed Abeloth and Luke seized the moment by using the Force to bring down a ceiling beam onto Abeloth, then seemingly killed her with his lightsaber.[3]

While looking for Abeloth on Nam Chorios, Luke mastered mnemotherapy.[154]

Upon death, Luke was able to retain his consciousness in the Netherworld of the Force, and could henceforth manifest himself in spirit form.[4]

Luke is G-canon, the most powerful.

Mace Windu. If it wasn't for a blindside by Anakin he would have killed Sidious.

Mace Windu was being played and was going out that window regardless. You notice that Yoda was conveniently off-planet when Palpatine's true identity was revealed.

Honestly, if you know any amount of lore at all; Luke is far and away the strongest force user the galaxy has ever seen. You can hate it or love it, but Luke is a force demi-god. Abeloth had to be created to introduce real competition for him.

How can he, be the strongest force user, if one part of his parents pure force is and the otherone not force sensetive?

It's canon that he has his father's potential and achieves it. Lucas states as much. To put it simply.. he inherited his force potential from his father.
