Fresh 50 Assault Specialist

Hey everyone! Just hit 50 today on my Vanguard and wanted to know a few things. My wz comms are capped right now so I plan on buying the chest piece and helmet first of the WH Combat Tech set. I want to go with Combat Tech if I'm AS right? Also, I've got several MK-6 Augmentation kits ready for installation. Do I want to to go with the power and aim augs? That would be my best guess. My last question is when is the best time to pop Battle Focus? Just got it and I've read the description so I wanted to know when you guys pop yours. Thanks in advance.

I think assault specs usually go for the Eliminator set. The 4 piece bonus, +15% crit on high impact bolt is phenomenal.

Yes this. As long as you are sure you want to do Assault and not the other two trees. If you think you might swap trees then go Combat Tech.

I still have 2 questions, I want to buff the damage of HIB as much as I can so what augs should I be going with in order to help this and when is the best time to pop battle focus?

Use all +18 Aim/12 Endurance augments and Power/Surge enhancements from the Eliminator Boots. I like the crit mod from the Combat Medic Gloves, but YMMV. I have all WH, modded out the way I like (No EWH, just started to save for those now). My biggest crit on HIB that I have seen so far is 5750 on a 13K hp sorc, heh.

Preferably, you will have HIB off its internal cooldown and your target already dotted by one of your teammates or by yourself. Reserve Powercell/Incendiary Round is your most efficient way to do this. You can also try to get lucky with a Plasma Cell proc off Hammer Shot. You want to avoid using Ion Pulse for your initial dotting as it has a chance to proc Ionic Accelerator early, which will hose your burst rotation. Use Stockstrike after your first HIB for the higher chance to proc Ionic Accelerator and Ion Pulse if it doesn't.

So on an undotted target with RP available: RP, IR, AP, BF, HIB, SS, HIB, IP, IP...On a dotted target, skip the RP and IR.

That's all "perfect world" scenario stuff and you won't be able to pull it off like that all the time in the craziness of pvp, but it is so satisfying when you do. :)

Nice, thanks! I hit a 4.2k with HIB with on a sorc with my WH helmet, chestpiece, and boots. Rest is recruit so I'm very hopeful :p
