EV puzzle boss bugged since patch?

Recommended Posts

We havent had a single issue(bug) with the pylons for a couple of weeks after we found a way to fix it for "us" but that doesnt mean it will work for you guys. Also, maybe 16-man is less buggy than 8-man, ya never know

This is our way of doing it. Not a fact of how you should do it

1) Always do the shortest possible way

2) Always finish south first

3)-NEVER- have a big gap between soth and north pylons finishing(Always wait for the north to have 1 click left before finishing south)

4) In the event that you wipe (we do it on nightmare) make sure none of the sides are locked(finished) then they will reset and you wont have to clear trash

5) If doing it on nightmare, CC all the mobs that spawn from 1 of the 3 sides, kill the mobs than spawn from the other 2.

We usually end while the first Acklay is spawned

We struggled through this last night (16m, normal) and noticed that as soon as we engaged the trash in front of our panel, waves already started coming in. The other side had no problem clearing their trash and didn't have a wave come in. There's something up with this encounter. Edited by Taybul

We finally figured out how to complete this encounter on the first try.

We had our operative stealth in and check the rotations of the pillars. If there were more than 8 clicks we would reset. Once we got both pillars to an 8 click rotation, it worked perfect on the first try.

It was a pain but it worked. Hope this helps.

not only is it bugged beyond my threshold for frustration..but we had to reset the instance every time it bugged so we cleared trash 6+ times then gave up and ended the night early.

yo..bioware..fix this crap please, it worked better before you "fixed" it.

Yes this is really really annoying. We had tried it seven times and six times it bugs on us. The bug was that we were unable to click the computers and the south pylar would not lock.

Bioware please fix this ASAP. This really takes the fun out of raiding.

Seems there is some confusion in this thread between enrage timer and a bug.

One half is screaming bug the other enrage timer.

One question, does the encounter start when you turn the first wheel or when you clear the mobs in front of the machine?

First wheel. You can tell by the point at which people are no longer permitted to enter the instance.

For those who haven't figured it out yet, my guild has got this one farmable. There are various tricks to killing the mobs which I'll leave you to figure out on your own, but the pylons are straightforward. Each puzzle needs a random sequence of moves, but the colours on the wheels are always in the same order, so before you start you should work out the sequence exactly. On harder difficulties, both pylons must finish at around the same time - order isn't important, but if one finishes much earlier then they'll lock. That happens reliably so we think it's intentional (but nobody really knows). You know how many moves are needed, so if the north pylon needs 3 rotations and the south needs 1 then the south is going to have to wait until the north has finished the first 2. Our guild's pretty much agreed that this is the sort of puzzle Bioware would make, requiring planning and patience and coordination, and ensuring that madly clicking every button as soon as it is available will cause you to fail.

The bug is that once they've locked, they won't unlock and you'll end up resetting, so don't screw up. That is clearly broken.

The Pylons are most certainly bugged. There's the issues already posted here and last night (8 man HM) we had 2 waves of 1xAcklay and then 2 waves of 4xAcklay at the South pylon which is clearly not as intended.

We managed to do it but it was really messy and just felt wrong.

Which brings me on to SOA (8 man HM)

- Lightning orbs still follow players through phase progression

- Players experiencing bad clipping when jumping from ledge to ledge (falling through them randomly and NO, SOA did not break them)

- Pieces of the floor missing right underneath mind traps in phase 3, causing players to come out of a mind trap and instantly fall down and die.

As far as i know they fixed the boss on the last patch, by adding an "enrage timer" which spawns extra elites when the time you had to complete the puzzle runs out. Also, the mobs don't spawn when you click the keypads they keep spawning untill you complete the puzzle, so you just have to manage and solve it the fastest way possible and for that you need to know the order of the colors if you click the right or left keypad.

If you use the right keypad the rotation is as follows:

Blue, Green, Red, Purple, White, Yellow

If you use the left keypad the rotation is as follows:

Yellow, White, Purple, Red, Green, Blue

It is advised that it is always the same person clicking the keypads in order to not mess up the order.

If you are doing everything correctly and still bugging for you, I found on this website http://starwarswarrior.wordpress.com/2012/01/12/eternity-vault-guide-ancient-pylons-8man-hardmode/ that in order to avoid bugs you should complete the several lines of the puzzle in this specific order:

North must solve the 1st Symbol first.

South must solve the 2nd Symbol first.

South must solve the 3rd Symbol first.

North must solve the 4th Symbol first.

Hope this helped solving your issues with this boss.

Cheers

We had this issue for a whole night and then we said "screw this" and tried a simple approach to it. We had both sides use every player they had to turn the consoles left (brute force), thus reducing the time it would take to spin the wheels to way less than before. It still could of been optimised but that was the only way the event didnt bug out for us, and thus we were able to complete it before getting wiped or before the event bugged out.

tl;dr -> every player that didnt have the debuff would spin left as soon as the panels lit up, no matter which side did it first.
