just go tactics ....................... im dropping sorcs in 3 gcds

 

I was having more success with tactics than assault as well----- not that much success but certainly an improvement. I however have retired my Vanguard until they fix this horrible class.

Since 2.1 nothing realy changed that much for me.

 

Yes we are not killing in 3GCDs (OP who implied that he kills sorcs with tactics must had made a mistake and fought a combat dummy), BUT:

 

11/8/27 True Beast + oil slick/Riot Gas works very well and it bursts down most of the engineering snipers and other defensive capable targets. The key to success is the right attitude. I tend to use "Static Field skill AND hyper assault" because of two reasons. First of all static field further reduces damage done by target by 5% which (also on you), and since it works with Explosive surge, which in my case does some nice damage, reduces that damage on every target, AND applies a DOT on every target which can ALSO reduce their movement speed it makes a difference. You don't have to spam it.

 

Explosive Surge + Static field + hyper assault = damage + 5% damage dealt reduction to each target caught in AOE, and dot + slow chance to every target in range. (In my opinion 5% damage done reduction to all targets caught in AOE is better for the team than 2% damage reduction personal).

 

With another defensive skill which is "Riot Gas/Oil slick" we basically have 2 tools to control the mob (effective against juggs and running groups of sorcs).

 

In the current WZ situation, 15% dot damage reduction is a must for me in this spec. It's not only saving life against lethality, but also against sorcs.

 

Another VERY successful hybrid is 8/22/16 which does wonders on operations and mass bunker/objective/door fights. This is strictly better than pure tactics because it offers HIB/RS resets (yes they do not hit for 7k, but 5.7 is perfectly fine IF you also have Prot. Flamethrower/Pulse Generator which under some circumstances (both relics procs and 3 stacks) deals approximately 3.6-4.1k a Tick on crit. This build is currently breaking 2.900 dps on operation dummy (look at Tomb of Fredon Nadd best damage scoreboards - all parced on torparce).

 

Conclusion for me. Even with broken Ion Pulse skill, and last nerf above mentioned builds are very effective. The 2nd one is more suicidal because it lacks the best defensive cooldown we could have (oil slick), but i would use it only when i would play in properly constructed 4/8 man team. If you want to go solo pug, use "True Beast" because of its single target capabilities and much better defensive cooldowns.

Glad to see you VGs are actually talking sense. Been saying this stuff over the pt forums and I keep getting fought about how the spec is fine and needed a nerf. Lol. Pubs are alright.

 

All the imps do is troll be fight each other haha.

Hey, us imps aren't all that bad. A lot of people are just angry that a PT/VG killed them with seemingly a simple rotation.

 

I personally run AP on my powertech (that's tactics for the pubs). I do okay, but I really do think that the other classes are a bit stronger in both damage and defense. All PT/VG trees could use a buff, really.

Yet the smashers go unpunished. Good ol bioware, nerfing the wrong class as always.

I just started playing a vanguard and I am able ti kill elites my level and 1 level higher. The trick is always gear up for your level. It also helps my crew skill is cybertech since I can make my own armour plates which saves one a lot of credits. As well when I level up I try and buy the next available level i can use barrels and enhancements. My main is a commando. The complaints I am seeing in the vanguard forums is nothing new to me it is a common gripe in the commando forums.

I can confirm that there is a bug with Assault Trooper; it's not increasing the crit bonus damage for Ion Pulse, just like the OP stated. This issue is slated to be fixed in Game Update 2.1.1, but we also have not completed testing, so there's always a chance that the patch number could change. If that happens, I'll be sure to let you know. Thanks!

The complaints are geared more toward and endgame lvl 55 and how that plays....... lol.... nobody is talking about lvl 15 balance issues.

Yeah, a powertech from my server was concerned about uneven duels :) He just sent me this couple of minutes after the official info came from devs.

Troll, u drop 30K + Bubble + 37,5% DMG reduce in 3 GCDs, what isnt even possible as Gunslinger/Smasher?!

 

if you spam your missiles off the gcd you WILL drop people to extremely low health in one rotation :p

 

and for the record, when lucky, i absolutely have dropped sorcs in 3 gcds after gut was applied LOL

I roll full Shield spec in WZs, stand on people's faces and make their life hell.

 

Missles + Energy Blast + Stockstrike -> HiB = 2 GCDs. I do this after popping Battle Focus and it will put pain on most people. Still not much you can do if you're wailing an Op / Scoundrel who has cross-heals on them. Even with everything popped and dropping our full rotation on a healer, the pressure from Shield Spec is pathetic against most healers who know what they're doing, especially if they have backups / taunts.

 

Good healers are usually the only thing that gives me real trouble when I'm solo queuing - besides being on a terrible team or going up against a premade, but that's any class.

 

In Shield Spec, I can afford to be reckless, pop my 25% shield, 15% Adrenal, and hit Adrenaline, throw gas, and otherwise become MUCH harder to kill for a while. I spend as much time as possible in people's faces, taunting DPS, pressuring healers.

 

Tactics on the other hand requires A LOT more methodical approach. Just have to make much smarter decisions about when and where to engage.

I love people who say that :cool: Tactics this Tactics that imo i always found tactics easy and mindless to play lol don't get me wrong i'm not saying assault is complex or anything but I've always thought it took more thought on when, where and how you engage a target in assault especially if you go with the full glass cannon assault build...

 

But this is the part where some tactics pro chimes in and tells me how bad i am so i'll just leave it at that.
