Trooper Gear?

Recommended Posts

So after doing 9 hard mode flashpoints in the past 3 days, myself and my group discovered nothing but Trooper gear in -every- loot box/boss. I'll say right now that the companion that I quite literally never use is in a 4 piece Columi set. The only thing that I've received for myself was a headpiece, our tank got a chest piece on the fourth run through of a hard mode.

We like to run with all 4 classes (Guardian tank, Sage heal, Gunslinger DPS, and Commando DPS) just so we don't have anyone fighting over something. This way we all actually need what drops for our respective classes.

Anyway, has anyone else noticed this or is it just us?

If you got nothing smart to say, don't say anything at all.

Actually what I said is smart and accurate. Hardmode flashpoint loot is all random. There's no magic set up that forces boss X to only drop something for class A,B,C,D that is present. So...random loot is random. The guy and his group had some bad runs. I've been in plenty of hard mode runs where force user gear drops and we don't have force users. Random loot is random.

It's DEFINITELY not random. The OP here is just another guy posting the same topic/ problem, but there have been tens of them, and I can say from my own experience (20+ HM runs, so not a small sample) and from the experience of others, it's just STATISTICALLY impossible.

You can definitely get reproducible drops in 85% of cases if running with the same premade group.

And the trend seems to be you will usually get drops for the class NOT present in the group - and not randomly, but in literally 85% or so of cases, from ALL bosses, not just the Columi drops. I can literally do 3 HM's in a row with my group, and we'll get 95% Smuggler 5% Trooper gear. I figured we just might be incredibly unlucky etc etc so I started following this forum, and after a few days I can now safely conclude something is indeed wrong.

That though, no. Its just that no one will post on the forum if they got their whole set. I mean, I got my full columi set "thanks" to reproducible loot drops, as I can't win a roll to save my life, but doing it multiple time with the same people (lots of shadow friends =P) and we got all of ours.

My wife on her smuggler however, is getting screwed, thus why I'm still paying attention to the subject. All our trooper friends however are quite happy, as that's close to 100% of what we get with our primary HM group.

The loot is always the same, down to the trash energized/xeno/tionese/schematic drops, but stuff does drop for people in the group. Its just that they all already have it, and we're trying to gear up our 4th and its proving almost impossible if we don't pug people.

Agreed, there's several threads with numerous people confirming the lack of randomness in HM flashpoint loot when running with the same 3 other people each time. HM False Emperor is the zone it's most noticeable, with every loot drop being identical each run with the same group.

To you, for lack of a better word, ignorants, you know who you are, that do not understand what random means. True randomness is impossible for computers or programs to duplicate. That being said, over small samples it is obvious that the probability distribution of a drop will be very homogeneous. Running the same hard mode a few times can give statistical anomalous results (translation for you: it can look non random). Arguments from ignorance are fallacious and make you look foolish. I like to be amused, but please stop. Edited by Shayttan

The point being if you can predict the entire loot table for an instance with 80+% accuraccy over more than 20 runs your no longer talking about RNG. Your now in a situation with lazy seeding code for the generator. You are correct computers can not reproduce true randomness they can only emulate it. With bad seed code you can generate consistent results over time.

I can predict to you that there is a 75% chance that the piece that drops will not be for your class.

Do you know why?

Because that's math.

If you don't see it drop by the 20th time, I have two tips for you:

1. Do normal operations.

2. Don't gamble at casinos.

You realize that only players with bad luck will post and complain on the forums right? Samples that are less than 100 will have HUGE variance and yes it is a small sample size. It's definetly possible that you can run HM FE 100 times and never see your token drop. It's unlikely, but you are just as unlikely say to get into a traffic accident or win $500 on a scratcher, but these things till happen to people. Just buy the pieces you need with the commendations if your luck is so bad.
