2.0 Madness Build

Unfortunately I didn't have much time to test.

Anyway I would separate 1v1 build and wz-type builds, since madness is probably still one of the best 1v1 builds, but wz-wise lightning is far ahead due to it's incredible burst.

1v1 build could be something like this:

http://pts.swtor-spy.com/skill-tree-calculator/sorcerer/236/?build=032010010000000000000000000000000003000000000000000000000000000003222322013120210100032000120100&ver=20

wz madness build could be something like this:

http://pts.swtor-spy.com/skill-tree-calculator/sorcerer/236/?build=230000000000000000000000000000000023000000000000000000000000000003020322013120210120032002120100&ver=20

Well, with some possible changes. I still didn't decide if new madness procs worth much. They are not for 1v1 apparently, but might be of use in warzones.

The madness build I use for pvp I also use for pve which is the basic 3/7/31 build and it works great. With 2.0 ill continue using the basic via 3/7/36 and judging from the tree will be much higher dps output. Considering for me that Wrath procs every other ForceLightning i dont think ill have a problem using LS in my rotation

5-4-37. I don't see a benefit to surging speed because it only works for the 10 seconds polarity shift is up. And although 10 seconds is a long time, polarity shift increases alacrity which is only good when standing still and casting. I'll probably spec into this for huttballs if I don't go heals, but I think the perfect madness build shouldn't have this. Calcify will also include creeping terror. I haven't played pts yet, but if their are any holes or a better madness spec feel free to criticize.

Well the lightning and hybrid are pretty good. I think people aren't very excited for full madness because it lost its instant whirlwind and the crit rating nerf hurt it a lot. The damage might be slightly better but without dot crits you aren't going to be bursting anyone down in pvp.

Madness appears to just be very lackluster in 2.0

I thought they took away dr on crit again? And with alacrity buffs you put out dots faster and whirlwind is near instant if spec'd into it. Death field hits 5 people meaning theres 5 death marks, there is a 4th dot that comes with force lightning, and dots do more damage without even specing for 9 percent more damage on them. I think hybrid is a viable spec, but not as many escapes as madness. Lightning will turn out to be an op arsenal merc and will give people more of a reason to focus sorcs.

Yeah I didn't notice the last changes, I've been too busy to play the last few days. They did fix crit, but sadly it doesn't change the position of full madness very much. A 1.5 second cast of whirlwind is still a long cast. Even still the survivability isn't the problem with madness, its the killing power.

The DPS parse tracking post on the PTS shows Madness/Balance putting out the most DPS of any Sorc/Sage spec in PvE, a good 100 DPS over the hybrid. And it is pretty competitive with other ACs.

As for PvP, it is the same old argument. Madness/Balance isn't going to wow you with burst, but a skilled player can do really well with it. It has good kiting utility, excellent AOE, DOTs actually hit harder now. If you want massive crits, you really need to roll another class. Madness/Balance will put out a lot of damage, but much of it will be from DOTs and Death Field.

Everyone seems to think DOT damage doesn't matter in PvP, but it's a lot easier for a team to defend a node if you have a Sorc using death field and DOTing every attacker. Makes it easier for everyone else to burn them down. Puts pressure on healers. I love my Madness Sorc in PvP.

A player hit with deathfield will have a deathmark plus 4 dots on him. Imagine 4 dots, some of them criting, and force lightning hitting someone. Sorcs have good burst and are versatile in the respect that they could burn a single target or put pressure, slows, and roots on the entire opposing team.

I think with alacrity buffs, if min/maxed properly someone will not have force management problems. Faster and more force lightning means more dots and damage, but aside from swinging your light saber force lightning is the best way to regenerate force. Alacrity buffs plus force lightning means more force. I think I might take away1 of my 2 points from electric induction and spec into sap strength and maybe take away the second point and spec into oppressing force. What do you guys think?

Could someone explain for me what lightning burns does / how it works? My phone won't let the whole image load : /

20% chance to get a dot from casting force lightning and 60% from casting lightning strike. The dot come up automatically on the target.
