Skuldar
They are similar in overall capability but differ in flavor. Both have solid DPS and an in-combat 60 sec CC and heals and a castable shield and knockbacks. Both get a first companion that complements them well. Both have the option of focusing on DPS or heals or some hybrid of those. Both are ranged classes. Differences include: only Sorcs get interrupts; BHs wear Heavy armor versus Light for Sorcs; BHs get AoE out of the gate, Sorcs have to spec to get it; the default BH attack is ranged, but melee for Sorcs; Sorcs have a simple but less flexible resource system whereas BHs have a tiered system that is more limited but also amenable to micromanagement. These two ACs are definitely among the better soloers (though, of course, any class if well-played can solo quite effectively). The biggest style difference is whether you or your companion are usually tanking. In most cases, the BH will be tanking with the companion supporting, while the Sorc will support/DPS while their companion takes the heat. Granted, either of those can spec such that they reverse that: a BH can go full heals and use a later companion to tank, and a Sorc can go full DPS and draw aggro and run with a healing or DPS companion. But especially early on the choice would be whether it is you doing the tanking or your companion.

Vallowen
fotm rerolls inc dont get too comfortable, sorcs are in for some massive nerfs, just watch and to answer the original question. neither, they're both incredibly easy and boring
Redial
merc is pretty boring. tracer spam.... and then? healing is more fun but incredibly easy. i spend most time in FPs just auto attacking tank and waiting for something hard to happen
AetherMcLoud
Merc gets a hyperactive little Java tank as a companion. That should sway you

Skuldar
Okay... So what would you consider to be fun? It might help if you give some indication what roles you enjoy or what kinds of abilities sound fun to you. I assume you asked because you want to know which to try, but even if everyone who plays either tells you which they prefer, that won't necessarily tell you which you would prefer. Do you want to heal or tank or DPS or some combination? Since you only asked about these two, I assume you prefer ranged over melee. Do you care about guns/missiles versus lightning? Do companions matter much? Does it matter whether your primary wardrobe options are limited to robes? Do you care how squishy you as a player are, or is it okay to be vulnerable if your companion picks up the slack?
