Jack_Deth
Playing Belsavis and discovered most of the prisoners are descendents of criminals rather than criminals themselves, how did this happen? Is it Canon? And why haven't the Jedi intervened on this travesty of justice? Likely because the Republic uses it as a prison for dangerous Sith Lords and criminals, the Dread Guards for example. It is considered C-canon, if you don't know what that is you should look up Lucasfilms canon guidelines. Edited March 7, 2013 by Jack_Deth

AlexDougherty
Did you do any of the missions based on this? Full reasoning for this is given out and it makes sense. Go LS choice if you want. Yes, I did the mission after posting this thread, but it's still stupid. As I see it there are three ways to look at the situation, 1: The prisoners are innocent, 2: this is a problem that is only going to get worse, 3: lets hide our heads in the sand. The republic seems to have gone for option 3. 1: The Prisoners are innocent, they haven't committed crimes, and if it gets out the reputation of the Republic is shot, as well as the career of any official involved. This is a crime, so getting sent to prison is a very real option if it ever comes out. 2: This is a problem that is only going to get worse, These innocent prisoners are going to have children, as are other Prisoners (the guilty ones), the population is going to grow, and it will have no patience with the Republic and it's lies. If you're going to allow prisoners to breed you can't afford to keep their children as prisoners for this reason, this way revolution is going to happen, and keep happening until something changes. 3: Lets bury our heads in the sand, pretend that the problem is solved, and continue on this stupid course regardless. If secretecy is important, periodically take the innocent descendents to an uninhabited world, and let them set up a colony with a tech level about the mid 17th century, they have a life, the name Belsavis will eventually degrade as generations go by, and if you spread them around the planet then you get different cultures who probably won't speak to each other.
