The Illusion of Sage/Sorc Imbalance AKA Why Your PvP Gear is Vital

The reason why Sorc/Sage seems OP is simple: their abilities aren't dependant on weapon damage.

All other classes have the majority of their damage abilities based on weapon damage. It's why a Lv50 Scoundrel/Operator can kill you before the stun wears off but a Lv15 one is like a fly buzzing around you as far as damage goes.

Sorc/Sage don't have to be worried about weapon damage, plus their damage is all non-physical (like a lot of the most damaging Scoundrel/Op abilities) so it ignores all armour.

It makes them not so reliant on gear as other classes which is why a fresh 50 Sage or Sorc is going to be a nightmare to face compared to say a fresh 50 Scoundrel/Op that doesn't have any Lv50 PvP gear yet.

It also does mean that their damage doesn't scale as well with gear compared to the "Physical" classes but force powers have a high enough base damage to compensate for it.

Basically those Sages and Sorcs, as well as Scoundrels and Ops that seem to kill you before the stun wears off are just very well geared.

Really the introduction of PvP brackets would do a lot to solve balance but it brings up three issues:

1) It will split up organised groups and people who want to play with friends and guild members.

2) It will lead to very long queues as you are reliant on at least 15 other people of your level on your server queuing at the same time as you or the WF will end the second you enter.

3) Due to the above, you won't be able to farm commendations as efficiently as you level so you can grab as much PvP gear as possible when you ding 50.

Not saying bracketed PvP is a bad thing but being encouraged to call on other guilds for help against premades on the other side does actually bring a pretty nice sense of community and cooperation among PvP guilds that only existed in games like DAoC and Warhammer Online.

What they are saying is, because of the massive amount of force power found in the lightsaber, Sages and Sorcs are just as reliant on weapons as a Sentinel or Maurader.

Unequip your weapon and see how it affects your damage.

Try posting some numbers and screen shots up and see what you come up with.
