thechimera Posted January 22, 2012 Share Posted January 22, 2012 I'll start out by saying that I hate the high end gear for the smuggler. Capes... capes? If I wanted to wear a cape, I'd play Champions Online. However, there are some nice pieces as you level up... I figure that, at level 50 I'll hide my hat and swap the chest for an orange piece, even if it slightly gimps me (and use PvP gear for the rest). Anyone else hate the high end smuggler look? It's not just the smuggler to be fair - the high end jedi gear, bounty hunter gear (for PvP at least) leaves a lot to be desired. I also had a question - I've found a piece I really like, but it's blue, so not moddable. It's a burgundy short jacket with white sleeves and a shoulder guard. The blue version i found in Esseles at level 14 from one of the Robot Bosses. But i don't know if there's a moddable brown version.. Personally i hate the Smuggler end-game gear. I hate it more since the PvP and PvE sets are exactly the same, so not only do i have to suffer ugly PvP armour but ugly Raid gear as well, while Jedi in comparison get two fairly good looking sets that don't turn them into Superman. Are we just not worth a second set Bioware? IS THAT IT?! ARE WE JUST THE NEGLECTED YOUNGER CHILD. NOT WORTHY OF YOUR TIME OR YOUR LOVE?! But uhm.. There's a nice Chestpiece on Tatooine, after finishing all the quests. It's a long coat, greyish brownish colours, with goggles around the neck. Personally it's my favourite. I'm still using it at 50, full epic mods. (Fair warning, if you have a beard - Neck Goggles will make it disappear.) Simple brown hip-long leather Jacket over white and blue Shirt & Undershirt. and BTW, Jedi top PvP gear, aka "The golden Samurai with Backpack" is even worse. The Pimpsuit and Cowboy jackets you linked are the same model with different coloring, and the Spacer look is a low level item. Considering you can get every single one of those jackets by level 40 and never get anything even remotely close to good looking from then on, there's a problem. Random people I've teamed with seem to like it as well, but I got the pieces in the 30s. I looked at the high end gear and most of it is bleh. The one thing I have always disliked about games like this is that end game forces people to be clones or be weaker for raids. What we need is a social outfit tab for putting ANY piece we want to be seen in. They can have no effect on our stats but let us look like we want. I don't mind the long coat but it's the collar the freaks me out. Not even the 70's had such radical collars. I like the low and mid lvl "Han Solo" looking outfits better. I say cowboy and pimp suit, because the pimp suit is fur lined, where the cowyboy outfit is all leather based. Pretty much all i need with the pimp suit is a cain and some powda' (To slap a hoe!) PS: Yes this is also a sign that the high level gear has issues if many including myself have different options that we got long ago. You can use a "level 7" orange all the way to 50 and then replace it when you get PvP/raid gear. It's the looks of the raid gear that are the issue here. Your moddable gear goes up in level as you put newer mods into it so the low level modded stuff that has an armoring slot in it is still viable. The thing I find most out of line is the fact that no matter what level 50 gear you put on you look like Cad Bane, who was a bounty hunter... Why oh why is level 1-49 smuggler gear and level 50 is Cad Bane? I can see that perhaps a gunslinger might want the space cowboy look, but the scoundrel doesn't even make sense in that gear. 'I'm going to stealth past those ruffians, wait, someone help me my blasted cape is snagged!' I still think with the quest lines doing what they do and involving the SIS, smugglers should look like the counter part of the agent, because their armor looks amazing, amazing enough to cause for re-rolling. It´s simply horrible. And u´r basicly forced to use it whenever u pvp. I´d like to ask for a redesign as soon as possible. Padded (like an oven mit) red chest with a CAPE?! .... REALY?!?! Oddly enough I decided to roll up a Smuggler tonight when I got home from work and also picked Apollo (albeit not because of BSG, but rather it seemed to just fit a Smuggler) as well.
