On the contrary. Revan was always a Well Intentioned Extremist. See the Mandalorian Wars. He also was "brainwashed and crazy" by the Emperor before, and if Kreia is right, his entire campaign as Darth Revan also falls very firmly under the Well Intentioned Extremist category. His plan to wipe out the Empire and the Sith (while completely unrealistic) fits his character very well. After all he has already shown several times that he is willing to do extreme and downright evil things to accomplish something he perceives to be a good outcome.
Considering that he quotes Malaks dying words, it is very heavily implied he died in that force explosion.
I admit I forgot about how much of an extremist he was, but that still does not deny the fact that, he should be given a better ending to his story. This is the guy who fought Mandalore the Ultimate, fought and killed his former best friend, Malak, went on a huge journey to get to DK, and after being captured resisted the Emperor's influence for 300 years.
As to the "force explosion" part, I doubt that is correct. If you watch The Foundry (Youtube
) he dissapears in a small flash of light as some lightning sizzles down. If you research Force Explosion on Wookieepedia, you can see instead of a small burst of light and some lightning; it is a huge burst of Dark Side Energy in which the individual is consumed by it (as seen here
To me that doesn't look like what happened to Revan, not to mention I doubt Bioware would kill such an important character off like that.
