Dispel mechanic is never based on type of damage(some skills don't even have damage) but on type of attack and resulting debuff. Those dots always show up in log as physical, but for some reason I thought they were considered force for purpose of dispelling. So yeah, someone else will have to clarify this part for you, all I can say for certain is that damage type doesn't matter here.

Also, one little funny fact: while Cauterize is supposed to deal elemental damage, it deals internal damage instead.
