She lay in the floor in front of the fireplace, content in the warmth, the firelight turning her silver eyes molten. She could feel him against her back, playing with her hair. It had been a great evening, dinner and some dancing in their house. They’d laughed and chatted, enjoying being together. He’d told her he loved her, and gave her kisses. She could feel him getting sleepy, his weight against her increasing, his breathing evening out. Only problem was, now she couldn’t move without waking him.
He was the perfect man, she mused. Smiled readily, loved to talk, thought her cookies were the greatest. They’d walked along the stream this afternoon, the spring day making them lighthearted. She sighed, it had been a great day.
Corso entered the house and walked into the room, and had to smile. Their son lay sleeping on his mom’s back, practically wrapped in her hair. Miriah smiled up at him, and he shook his head. He crouched down and untangled Devin from the silken strands, lifting him up. “Don’t move,” he whispered to her. “He had you all day, I want you now. Just like that.”
Love is the strongest magic of them all.
