More Family with some Discovery.
No game spoilers. A bit of spoilers with respect to my Force of Wills fic.
The two women entered the Cantina, one tall, well muscled, a soldier, red skin and yellow eyes, a Sith Pureblood. The second was lithe and curved, she moved like water, with a cascade of red curls hanging from a pony tail and deep ocean blue eyes. Somehow, they were familiar, they shared the shape of their jaw, and the rose bud lips were the same, and though their eyes were different colours, the shape and serious look was the same. They were sisters.
Two men waved them to a booth; Mitka broke into a smile as she spotted her two older brothers. Aaron, her oldest brother, big, tall with big brown eyes and short brown hair cut close to the head, and Cohen, the jester, heart achingly handsome, short blonde hair and their mothers blue eyes, he had a days worth of stubble gracing his strong jawline. Aaron was handsome as well, but serious and quiet, his brother with his charisma and charm, matched with his classic good looks simply out shined him.
“Those are your brothers?” Oriah asked quietly, trying not to stare too hard at the crooked grin the blonde was giving her.
“Yep, word of warning, stay away from Cohen, he’ll rob you blind and break your heart.” Mitka replied softly.
“Which one is Cohen?” already knowing the answer.
Aaron’s normally serious face spread into a huge smile at seeing his little sister, and he enveloped her into a bear hug. Cohen lifted an eyebrow and gave her a wink before pulling her close to him and hugging her in turn.
“And who is this delectable little red head you’ve brought with you?” Cohen offered his hand to Oriah, Oriah replied in kind, but instead of shaking her hand he brought her hand up to his lips and kissed it then bowed with a flourish.
“Sweet stars Cohen, come off it!” Mitka slapped him upside the head. Then shot Oriah a look of warning, the younger woman was already blushing.
“Lieutenant Aaron Riggs, that” Aaron pointed his thumb at his brother, “Is Cohen Riggs, pleasure to meet you.” Aaron actually shook her hand amiably.
“Captain Cohen Riggs.” Cohen chimed in, earning him disdainful looks from each of his siblings.
“Not a Captain when you don’t have a ship.” Mitka reminded him.
“I have a ship!” he defended.
“Yeah, mom’s, you really ought to return it, she is pissed at you.” Aaron added, there would be no lies and cheap tricks to help him womanize today, and Aaron already suspected he knew who the pretty little red head was.
“Guys, this is Oriah Quinn…My little sister.” She quirked a smile, testing the words out loud for the first time, it felt good.
“Pleasure to make your acquaintance” she offered with a head tilt.
“Sister?” Cohen finally took a moment to really look at her, at her face, and he saw the similarities. “No kidding.”
“I need your help, Oriah’s in trouble, I would keep her with me, but..”
“Havoc squad, highly classified and dangerous ops.” Aaron finished her sentence. He turned his attention to Oriah, “What kind of trouble?”
“It would appear my mother has sent assassins after me.” Oriah didn’t mention one of them was her own brother.
“Looks like Sith. I don’t trust anyone else to keep her safe." Mitka continued.
“I hate to be a burden, I can pay you for your services” Oriah offered, never one to take something for nothing.
The brothers looked at each other, Oriah bristled a little, she hated not being able to take care of the problem herself.
“Cohen, she’s an amazing problem solver, great with puzzles and codes, I know she could help you with that little project your working on.” Mitka reasoned with her brother.
“She’s your sister, I have no doubt she’s brilliant.” Cohen smiled, and actual genuine smile. “Mitka, you don’t need to convince me, of course I’ll help.”
“And no payment necessary, you’re family. I’m between deployments, so I can come along as well.” Aaron spoke directly to Oriah, there was no way he was going to leave her alone with his little brother. “I can finally see what it is Cohen is up too.” Aaron noticed Cohen’s eye twitch, “Eh bro? Give us a chance to catch up, probably pull your *** out of the fire like when we were kids.”
“Fine, but I’m not calling you sir.” He punched Aarons big arm.
“Thank you, truly.” Oriah didn’t know what else to say, this is what family, real, true loving family felt like, she had felt it once, a long time ago, barely a memory. She turned to Mitka and threw her arms around her, hugging her tightly.
“You’re welcome.” Mitka hugged her back, she had her brothers, they would always be her brothers, but this girl, she was blood, the connection had been nearly instant, she found Oriah easy to love. She would protect her with the same ferocity as any other family member. “Stay safe little sister.”
