Some lightsabers have been constructed that way, with internal switches that can only be activated by precise telekinesis. The drawback, of course, is that it's like making the switch VERY tiny and hidden. . . you almost have to search your own weapon every time you want to turn it on, which could be bad.

As for having the lightsaber constantly float by your hand. . . you assume using the Force requires no exertion or concentration. I dare say keeping a telekinetic hold on a lightsaber would be more exhausting than simply holding it in your hand, which is not fatigueless on its own.
