Welcome (and, to many of you, welcome back!) to the Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ Community Forums. We would like to take a few moments to introduce you to some of our new forums and resources, refresh you on the posting guidelines, and wish you the best on your in-game adventures!
First, you'll notice the Community Blog, which resides at the top of www.swtor.com/community. We'll use this blog to make important community announcements and to post articles of special interest to our community members, so we encourage you to check it out frequently. To find interesting and informative posts from the development and community teams, visit the Developer Tracker, which updates any time a BioWare employee makes a post. You can recognize BioWare developers by their BioWare "B" avatar and gold text!
Customer Service is also available on the Forums. Our Customer Service Representatives use the Customer Service Droid avatar and gold text, and are happy to assist with a number of issues. Please post in the Customer Service forum if you encounter any problems, but note that not all issues can be resolved on the Forums (particularly any questions about your account that would require personal details). If your issue is not resolved on the Forums, please contact support: www.swtor.com/support. On this page, you can also search the Customer Service knowledge base for solutions to your issue!
We now have many new discussion forums, but we'd particularly like to draw your attention to the New Player Help section. Here, new players can ask any questions they have about the game and receive answers and advice from community members who have more game experience. We encourage everyone to visit and help out players who are new to Star Wars: The Old Republic or to MMORPGs in general! You'll also see lots of new discussion forums for PvP, Crew Skills, classes and Advanced Classes, and group content like Operations and Flashpoints.
Helping the community organize and interact is very important to us, so we've expanded the Guild Hall and added new Community forums. When you visit the Guild Hall, you can now select your region, faction, and server type to create your Guild's recruitment thread. This new organization will help your guild's recruitment thread stand out to players in the same region and on the same server type! Each recruitment forum also has a "Looking for Guild" forum to help individuals locate a suitable guild.
Our Community forums include forums for Fan Art, Fan Fiction, Roleplaying and Play-by-Post, and new forums for local check-ins and for organizing player-run events. Check them out and get involved!
We'd like to remind everyone that we take our Forum Guidelines very seriously. In order to foster constructive discussions in a safe, friendly environment, we do enforce our forum rules and expect our community members to treat each other with respect, even when disagreeing. You can read the full Rules of Conduct here, but these guidelines will help you contribute to the community!
Our Community Team will be hard at work to keep the Forums friendly for everyone. They review player reports, help keep the forums organized, provide us with important information from the Forums, and are always helping point players towards helpful information.
- Never insult another member of the community.
- Respect other community members, whether they agree with you or not.
- Flag, don't fight. Use the "flag" feature to report posts to our Community Team if you see someone breaking the rules – don't respond to them!
- Make constructive, on-topic posts that add to the discussion.
Following these guidelines will ensure a great community experience for everyone. Note that violating the rules can lead to infractions and eventually to suspensions of your posting privileges. If you have a question about moderation, please feel free to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll be happy to answer!
Most importantly, welcome! We're excited to have you join us, both in-game in Star Wars: The Old Republic and here on the Forums. We're always reading your feedback about the game, and encourage you to let us know what you think! We'll work to address concerns and engage with you all by providing information through blogs and developer posts. Thank you all for joining us, and may the Force be with you!
