  1. Everyone is a new player at some point. Everyone has to look for new "groups" of people to enjoy an MMO with if circumstances change for them. I have had to do this myself. I have never been forced to use the LFD tool in WoW, and neither has anyone else. I was, however, forced to find a new way to get things done that fit with the way I wanted to play the game. Your choice is your choice regardless of your circumstances. No one can force you to do anything. If you believe yourself to have been forced into using something you didn't want to use you made the choice to give up on finding a different solution.
  2. These two things actually could help make LFD a better tool!
  3. What system would that be exactly? There is no system that can take into account human behavior or that can prevent issues caused by human behavior. If there is, please, by all means, enlighten us all. The issues you have with the LFG and with Duel Spec are the behavior's of the people you encounter while using those tools. What system that could possibly be implemented by a gaming company (this one or any other) could possibly take into account and have preventative measures in place for all aspects of human behavior? Reputation, in a gaming community or anywhere else, is self-serving. It is something that an individual fosters. It is caused by human behavior. I, personally, have a good reputation on the server I chose in WoW. Why? Because I am good to people when I PuG players for my raid team, I am helpful when responding to others in /trade, I listen and follow the direction of the group leader when I join other teams as a PuG...basically, because I CHOOSE to do the right thing when I deal with others. This is true of EVERYONE! Not that everyone wants the reputation of being a good person to group with or a good person to ask questions of, but that everyone creates their own, personal reputaion...good or bad, your reputation is created soley by YOU! No system, LFG or otherwise, will change the way individuals present themselves to others. That fact does not take you choice regarding that system away from you nor does it facilitate a need to keep that system from others. If you don't like the group you get from the LFG, leave. It's as simple as that. There is no tool or system that can be implemented by Bioware, Blizzard or BillyJoeJimBobGameCo that can factor in and implement preventative measures for human behavior. All of your issues with LFG and Duel Spec are based on human behavior.
  4. Seriously? Did you just start playing WoW in WotLK? Prior to the LFG system we sat in SW/Org/Shat/Dal spaming /trade chat with..."Healer (or Tank or DPS) LFG for 'x' instance" for hours on end. When you finally found a group you were lucky to not have half the group leave because they only had 20 minutes left to play. Then after replacing the people you'd been sitting in group with for an hour that had to leave (which took yet another hour) you stayed in the group, even if the players you were with were jerk's and insulted everyone, because you didn't want to have to sit in /trade for another hour to replace them and start all over. LFG, while I, personally, do not like the tool, DID NOT destroy the WoW community...THE PLAYERS destroyed the community. If you don't want the same thing to happen here, don't be a part of it. The tool has no effect other than letting THE PLAYER choose to be a jerk (you see that CHOICE there?). Choose not to be a part of the destruction of our community and it will not be destroyed. Do you not have server only /trade chat? Do you not see the flaming ******s there who insult players for asking questions? Do you really think LFG started same-server flaming in /trade? Do you even really play WoW? WE, the players, determine how good or how bad our community is. Game tools that give us options in play do not determine how the community interract's. It is now as it always was. If you have a group of friends or a guild to do things with it is wonderful and you find groups easily no matter what class/spec you play. You don't have to worry about ninja's looting and you have tons of fun. If you don't have either of those things you get what you get in groups as you always did. The groups are just easier to put together today and you can continue about your business while the group comes together. Don't blame a game tool on the lack of community or your ability to become an *** with no consequence. Your moral compass dictate how you act, both in game and in real life.
  5. Just as you don't want Duel Spec, I don't want LFD/LFG. I hate it in WoW and don't use it unless grouped with at least three people from my own guild. So, yes, I absolutely do have a choice in who I choose to play with, as I always did, because I CHOOSE to limit my use of a system I, personally, do not care for. So, according to your argument...I don't want LFD/LFG so you can't have it!...How stupid is that? I don't have to use it if I don't like it. Have fun with it if you do. You see how that works? CHOICE! Everything is about choice and everything I do has a choice included in it, including what I do or do not do in this or any other game. Your choices do matter. The fact that other players choose to lose their moral compass when grouped with others because they believe themselves to have some level of anonymity does not effect how I, personally, treat others in the same situation. You can't blame the system on the choices you make or the way you treat people and you can't assume I will treat others poorly because the system is in place. This community, as the WoW community, is what WE make it. My WoW community is just fine and I do not have the issues you speak of. I play both Hybrid AND Pure classes. I play classes with multiple's of the same spec. Holy PvE/Holy PvP spec'd Paladin. Shadow/Holy Spec'd Priest. MM/Surv spec'd Hunter. Resto/Ele spec'd Shaman. Arcane/Fire spec'd Mage. Etc. Etc. Etc. Just because you have duel spec's does NOT mean they will be played for hybrid purposes. I'm sorry, but I don't think (and never will agree) that pure DPS classes are hurt or hindered in any way by hybrid classes. Both bring something to the table. Both are worth having. If the people you choose to play with don't think Pure's are worth having, maybe you should re-think your in-game aquaintances. It is not the "hybrid's" fault that the "pure" feels inferior. Your arguments simply don't hold water. It does not make me a less thoughtful player because I agree that other players should be able to choose how they play, either as a hybrind or as a pure class. I even stated that different DPS specs are more useful in different situations. Even pure DPS classes have multiple play-style spec's. What if I am a Sorcerer that wants both DPS spec's? I shouldn't be able to have a single target DPS and an AoE DPS spec because you don't want more hybrid's ruining your game? That's not really a valid argument. If you want fewer hybrid classes and more "pure" classes, go chat with the Dev's. But Hybrid's don't hurt you as a Pure class, they bring necessary options for most end game content in most MMO's, like being able to switch a tank to a DPS rold when only a single tank is needed or being able to switch a DPS to a healing role if 3 healers are needed or being able to switch from a SINGLE TARGET DPS spec to a MULTI-TARGET DPS spec. Get out of your box and stop trying to make everyone else play like you. The QQ over Hybrid's is over, they are not going away! If you don't like them take that issue up with the Dev's. But the "hybrid vs. pure" debate has nothing to do with duel spec as even pure classes have a reason to have multiple spec's for the single role they provide.
  6. How, exactly, does wanting to be able to do different things depending on the game-play I want at that time make me (or anyone else, for that matter) a moron? The fact that you (or someone else) wants to play the same exact way every day, day in and day out, should not mean that everyone else should have to do the same. The fact that I (or someone else) want the option to play differntly depending on the situation shouldn't mean that people who like playing the same all the time should have to use that option. It's about choice! Nothing more. If you choose to play exactly the same all the time, that's wonderful for you. I don't choose to play that way, and neither do a lot of other people. Frankly I'm tired of having to go to the Fleet every time I want to change up my game play for PvP or FP's or questing or whatever I'm doing that day. Wanting options doesn't make me a moron, nor does it require your rude comments.
  7. Duel spec gives more flexibility to game play. Players who enjoy healing (and often tanking) sometimes have a difficult time questing with those spec's. Sometimes it's just fun to "change things up" a bit and see what happens. Often, different DPS spec's offer things that are more effective in certain situations. For example, Sorcer's Madness spec is a single target DPS spec while the lighning spec is more AoE based. There are many reasons players like to play different specs. I would guess that the vast majoirty would prefer to have Duel Spec. And the most brilliant thing about DS is that if you only want one spec you only have to have one spec. It opens the option to have two useable specs, it does not require that you do.
  8. One of the things I like most about TOR is the lack of macro's and add-ons. Having played WoW for the past 5-1/2 years and seeing how much they've taken over that game (which I still love and still play) it is refreshing to not have to worry about how my numbers look on someone else's recount or if I say I don't use macro's or many add-ons I'll be told to L2P. I think you "L2P" better when you actually have to play with no crutches to make things easier for you. No macro's are needed. Keep the add-on's away. Play the game the way it was made to be played and, if you can't, buy a keyboard or mouse that allows for those features without adding them into the actual game. I like having the basic game and having to actually learn abilities. I like having no crutches to fall back on. I like being a "nub" and needing to read what abilities do. I like not having a cookie cutter spec. I like finding things out on my own.
  9. I'm doing my best to be understanding and keep telling myself "it's pre-launch, this can't be an issue that will continue beyond a couple of weeks into live game launch", but it gets harder everyday. A queue of 5-10 mins is understandable and reasonable. A queue starting 20 mins to an hour that increases as you're waiting and ends up being 30 mins to 2 hours is unreasonable by any standpoint, even during pre-launch. Do something about the queue's...more than just saying you know about it.
