  1. Yes, affection effects crit chance. Don't know the exact numbers but you should be able to google and find out. As far as I know, as long as your droid has the crafting mod equipped, the bonuses will go into effect.
  2. Awesome post Lakhesis! Very informative.
  3. LOL perfect analogy. And I agree about the voices, I get so tired of hearing the same Twi'lek phrases repeated over and over ("me lay wah antah HOOMPA!").
  4. Just curious, if I invite one of my friends for the 7-day trial, can he install the game using my discs or will he have to wait and download the client?
  5. I haven't played Trooper so I can't comment on that, but I did finish the Knight story recently and I was underwhelmed. For me, it basically boiled down to 80% grinding (super-weapon here, go stop it, then same thing on the next planet), and 20% actual story with substance. The real story (not the weapon filler) is epic in terms of how it ties into the overall plot of the game, but at the same time it's very cookie-cutter, traditional hero story, good vs evil, etc. I played Agent first and enjoyed it a lot more. It felt more mature, a little 'dark', had great twists, and so on. Just the kind of thing I like. The consensus so far seems to be Agent >> SW > JK, and a lot of different opinions about the rest of the class stories, with Consular generally being viewed as the worst.
  6. Just as a note, users with a SSD should NOT defragment. Also, I believe you can selectively disable Aero by disabling visual themes and desktop composition in the Compatibility tab of Properties for swtor.exe.
  7. So far I've finished Agent and Knight, only doing a little bit of the other classes. Agent is my favorite so far, being that it seems the most adult-themed and engaging. I'm a huge fan of intrigue, plot twists, etc, and since I played this class after reading the ASOIAF series (Game of Thrones), it was perfect for me. I kept playing because I just needed to know what happened next. Knight, on the other hand, felt way too cookie-cutter for me. If you're a fan of traditional hero stories, good vs evil and so on, you might enjoy it. It was 'epic' in the sense that it had a large impact on the overall plot of the game, but to be honest the writing felt subpar. There were a few decent twists, but overall it was grindy (go here and defeat this super-villain, over and over). For those ASOIAF fans, just imagine Ned Stark succeeding in his plans and the realm saved. Too simple and predictable really, in my opinion. I'm currently playing Warrior and enjoying it so far. Rather than 'omg a new bad guy go get him, just forget the Emperor for now we'll get to him later' like the Knight story, the planets you go to all seem to tie in to the overarching storyline.
  8. My thoughts exactly. Jedi Knight just feels like an extension of the planet quests. Weapon on planet X, go destroy it; weapon on planet Y, etc. It's basically like grinding out an extra planet questline (hours) and then getting maybe 20 minutes of actual class story. I would've enjoyed it much more if they had maybe just one weapon on one planet, and then the other planets actually tied in to the story, like you're pursuing leads and investigating how to actually stop the bad guy, why he's doing it, what other Sith think about what's going on, etc.
  9. Really? The majority seem to label trooper as one of the more boring stories... but then again knight is considered one of the best and I'm disappointed so far. I'll give it a shot.
  10. I just got to Voss on my knight and I have to agree with some of the others here... the whole super-weapon thing is getting old very fast. It's like the story is 80% super-weapons, 20% epic. The story itself really isn't that satisfying for me, and so far I'm of the mindset that it's only good because of how 'epic' it is, and even then apparently the real epic stuff doesn't happen until the very end. My main is an agent and I adore that story, the progression just seems so much more cohesive compared to the knight where you grind through all this weapon filler in order to get to the good stuff. So for anyone who feels the same way, what class would you recommend I roll next? I'd prefer something that flows well the whole way through. I just hate having to burn through filler to get the little tasty treats at the end of every planet.
  11. So I'm close to finishing up my JK and trying to figure out which class to play next. Story is really important to me. I've been reading up on all the feedback and I've come to some conclusions. Some of this is oversimplifying, I know, but what do you think? Agent - First one finished, just amazing. It feels like an adult mystery novel, you really connect with characters and spend a lot of time speculating about the plot. Knight - Almost done with this one. The majority of it is typical cookie-cutter hero stuff, but I think what makes it good is how connected it is to the main conflict. It could have used more intrigue and twists but it redeems itself by being epic near the end. Warrior - Around the same level of epic as Knight, but with some good intrigue from what I've gathered. Some say it's a mix of a Vader/Palpatine experience. I'm heavily leaning towards playing this next, but I'd prefer something else since I've been playing Knight for the past couple weeks. Bounty Hunter - Some say it's the best revenge story, others say the plot is disconnected and episodic in a bad way, boiling down to just killing x for money, over and over. I understand this is basically what hunters do, but I'd like to know if it's really that repetitive/boring. Trooper - A typical soldier story from what I've heard. Your character has to deal with a lot of bureaucracy, and even though he's helping save the Republic he still gets treated like crap. Inquisitor - I like the premise of this one.. you're a slave who works his way to the top. Some have said it's like Ghostbusters where you just go collecting artifacts and killing ghosts, and is only interesting in the beginning and the end. Is it really that simple or does the ghost stuff actually tie in to the story and feel 'right'? Consular - The most boring story according to lots of people. You're the Jedi underdog, selfless and diplomatic; you work in the background and do what you can; a 'typical' Jedi rather than a superhero. Some love the story though, saying it's just what they expected of a Consular, and that it's very different from other stories. Smuggler - Best and/or funniest dialogue in the game, but overarching plot isn't great. Don't know much about this class unfortunately. So if you've played any of these classes to the end, what are your 2 cents?
  12. Thanks a lot, I'll give Lokin a shot
  13. Who do you tend to use in concealment spec? I've used Kaliyo for most of my leveling to 45 and I can't help but notice how squishy she is, and this is with good gear. Is SCORPIO any better? I've been reading that Vector and Doc are good for certain builds, but who do you personally use? There's so much downtime after fights with Kaliyo because she takes such a beating.
