  1. Each class really only has a few unique pieces which are mixed in various combinations so it appears there is more of a "selection". If you level a cyborg to 50 everything is unlocked for all classes at character creation.
  2. There isn't much in the way of beneficial end game items you can craft from the Cybertech schematics learned at the trainer. I was using a crafted purple earpiece until I could buy a Black Hole one but I had to RE a lot to get the right schematic so don't know if it was really worth it... Like the others mentioned, Cybertech is more useful for making credits especially if you can get the high level schematics. I also make some decent cash selling starship parts. As fas as gearing characters, I find it works out better for lower levels so I supply my alts with blue armorings, mods and earpieces.
  3. I've critted on ship parts before; it just gives you two items instead of one. Speeders seemed a waste of mats so I never crafted enough to see if it could crit. I really don't think it's worth taking a screenshot of though...you'll just have to trust me
  4. Has anyone found a tooltip or something that displays the level of the slot on an augmented piece of gear? I can't seem to find any indication other than getting an error message when trying to put in an augment of the wrong level.
  5. Edited my first post... I haven't done same class story missions for a few months but it wasn't there in the beginning. Guess I just noticed since my friend and I made alts of the same class for 1.2...
  6. There are better mechanics for same class story instances then at the time of release. When a second person of the same class tries to enter a story instance, they are prompted to either create a new instance or join one of the instances in progress. You can now have everyone in the party run their own separate instances at the same time so you don't all have to repeat the mission. Another nice feature is once you've completed your instance, you can go back in and help someone else if they're still finishing the mission.
  7. I've been collecting Codex entries since I hit 50 and am at exactly half...324 of 648 for Smuggler. I'm curious if the other classes also have 648 as the totality or if it's different for each class. I've been enjoying heading back to the all planets and soaking in the sights and aesthetics but the biggest pain are the bugged entries that can't be obtained. Still hasn't deterred me from collecting them... SWTOR Spy is the best place I've found but the forums are always a decent resource. There are some stickies about the bugged entries which I've found useful: Republic - http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=292539 Imperial - http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=104803
  8. Words like disparity and clunkiness scream subjectivity I agree that my opinion is biased since I've only played Scoundrel healing but I see no reason to play another healer. I've already got a Shadow alt and I don't have much interest in playing a Trooper. I play more for the story so don't feel like repeating the main quests so soon. Thanks though for reinforcing the worthlessness of Kolto Cloud...I never was planning on getting that PvE gear since it looks bad anyways Never really did address your post...as long as you're getting enjoyment out of Sawbones, I wouldn't listen to any naysayers. If people don't want to group just because you're a healing Smuggler then they're not worth your time. There's plenty of people out there who actually play for the entertainment and social aspects plus they make for better groups anyways. A good guild also helps...have you joined one?
  9. I knew I shouldn't have opened my big mouth... @Corran - I haven't done the dailies that often and I used to spec for alacrity but have now been replacing all my alacrity with power. It was recommended to me to do some of the normal FPs first like Kaon Under Siege because they drop good gear for HM (just got some Xenotech pants last night). It seems that you have run HM with your Scoundrel...were you the only healer in those groups? @Tokosteef claims it can't be done at all... @antiviolence - I'm usually running around in the thick of the fight throwing my heals around because that's where all the excitement is I got the impression that Scoundrels weren't really taken seriously as healers because the sages had way more death rates and Sith seemed to target them over me. I only used the WZ scoreboard as an example because it is the only thing in the game currently that provides real statistics. @Waagabond - I'm a somewhat a hybrid healer (25/3/13) so I'm also throwing damage around. I do focus more on healing but also do some damage when needed...how else would I get credit for kills?
  10. Maybe but when everyone in the party survives by just a thread it's way more epic I find it way more enjoyable after a fight when everyone starts clapping and saying that was some mad healing or don't know how we pulled that off...but that's just me:rolleyes:
  11. I see no factual evidence to back that up I tried once but the tank was garbage and didn't draw agg when he should of so I haven't done any since with a PuG. I do need a couple more "raid level" pieces of gear but that should be fairly soon. There's a couple guys working towards HM in my guild so we'll just have to see. An I'm sure that someone else out there has done it already...
  12. Nice to know there are other Scoundrel healers out there that know what they're doing I feel like I always have to prove myself to people I randomly group up with but it doesn't take long. Usually if someone complains that a Scoundrel can't keep up with healing it's because the Tank or DPS aren't doing their job properly ^_^ Does anyone use Kolto Cloud effectively? I never quite found it to be useful that often so ended up going 25/3/13 so I could get Shrap Bomb and Street Tough. I'm digging the reduced CD and energy return on Pugnacity.
  13. Haha, I couldn't help but chime in from the title alone so I haven't read many of the posts... I have a level 50 Scoundrel and am usually the only healer in groups. I'll admit I can't do HM (and haven't tried any Ops) but anything normal isn't too difficult as long as everyone can fulfill their party role. I can solo the daily Heroic 2+ on Ilum and Belsavis but it does require strategy and takes me a while to finish. Grouping is still the best way to go but I've plenty of abilities to supplement any other class. People are always a little hesitant at first to group with me but I always prove them wrong. I agree that Scoundrels do seem "weak" and "underpowered" compared to the other classes especially if you do number-crunching but if you spend some time learning how to use the abilities to your advantage and fight with some tactics it's not that hard. Oh, I just tried some warzones for the first time the other night and was consistently one of the top healers. The first few games no one took much notice of me but soon I had Sith hunting me down...I wouldn't re-roll my Scoundrel at all. Alright, that's all I wanted to say on this subject. TL;DR - Numbers and stats mean nothing if you learn how to "play" the game
  14. The economy is in such disarray that I haven't been able to put fixed prices on anything. On my server prices fluctuate all the time so something that was selling steady last week won't sell at all today because someone flooded the market with a bunch of lowball prices. I've found that I actually make more money by selling a bunch of low level items (20 or less) for several grand a piece because the missions are cheap to run. I make sure to check the GTN at least once a day so see what the current trends are and re-adjust my pricing/selling scheme. It also helps to keep a rotating stock of different item types/bonuses. There's no point in selling an item if a ton of people are selling the same thing at varying prices.
  15. It seems to me that you need to complete certain missions before gaining access to another. For example, when I complete a mission for a moderate yield of metals, once my companion gets back then I have access to a rich and bountiful yield. When I complete those, it goes back to initial moderate yield mission. I could be wrong (don't have access to check ingame right now) but at the higher levels there is only one named mission for each of the different yields.
