  1. Same thing. Using a Guardian/Tank spec. Breezing through Veteran Mode... hit these two guys and it was a literal brick wall. I swapped over to STORY mode, and these guys didn't change their difficulty. That is definitely a glitch. Restarting the game fixed it for me, though. When I came back in, I swept them under the rug like a bad memory... I want to point out there's a lot of people writing in this thread about how easy these guys are and who don't have a problem with taking their lunch money. Dear future poster... PLEASE check the mode you are on. If you are on STORY setting when you fight these guys... yeah.. they're a piece of cake. If anyone finds a good Strat to defeat them in gear-level 230+... please post it! Thanks, and good hunting!!
  2. -please keep in mind that Bioware is the company that provided the industry with the Aurora Tool-set for the original (remake) of Neverwinter Nights.... which has IMO never been duplicated with any real success. the sheer amount of custom worlds created that were then piloted by Game Masters actively spawning encounters, possessing NPC's and instantly creating content and adventure on the spot as well as long time story arcs that deeply involved active and casual players alike has (again, IMO) never been successfully duplicated. I can hardly dream of a world with the content and interact-ability of SWTOR pared with a custom content creation tool that ALSO allows community members to not only run their own custom STAR WARS adventures, but also act as GAME MASTERS at the same time. holy crud, I'm already weak in the knees at the mere suggestion! -ps Bioware, I still have my NWN game installed and play every blue-moon or so with some old friends... talk about longevity!!
  3. IMO the reason the hood-off toggle hasn't been implemented yet is because Bio's coding team can't figure it out. there are a few head-pieces that combined with a robe or caped Heavy Armor chest will currently toggle the hood down. Currently, my Guardian is sporting the heavy armor robe chest from Cademimu and a headpiece from Hoth Comms this is a caped Clothy-style Heavy Armor in combo with a Jordy LaForge style headgear. showing the hood down: by wearing the headgear http://smokingrabbit.com/swtor/hood_down.JPG showing the hood up: by un-equipping or hiding the headgear http://smokingrabbit.com/swtor/hood_up.JPG please notice the baldness... this currently is Bioware's dev's accidental (i assumer it was an accident) de-activated your 'hair' when equipping this particular headgear... it was working perfectly prior to Legacy patch release... -I've submitted a bug report ************ about it after every minor fix-patch since Legacy, but it continues to fall on deaf-ears. -so this thread about "when will they add a hood toggle" is pretty pointless until they care enough to fix this bug with the hair on these head-pieces... frankly, IMO, the coders either don't care enough to root this recent graphic 'oops' high enough to start working on it... or they are currently working on it, but are too perplexed to find an answer. -you chose which one you like best a) Bioware coders couldn't care less about hood toggles, or b) Bioware coders can't figure out how to toggle your hood down without breaking your 'hair'... so... are they just rude? or are they idiots... you make the call. (-I'm not bitter about the fact they broke my hair, no.)
  4. ok, so before I get any rewards i first have to acquire 3 medals? doesn't this create an environment where people will be more inclined to ignore warzone objectives until they are able to secure the fact they will receive any rewards? -I do hope Bioware is aware, that you can play the whole game doing nothing but supporting and helping and advancing your team towards victory and still not receive 3 medals...
  5. when equipping a head-slot item on my companion that is one of those very small ring-shaped headbands, suddenly my companion's voice changes and sounds like I have equipped her with a full on trooper helmet. the voice suddenly sounds like it's from a comm speaker or two-way-raidio or something. if I unequip the head-band... she speaks as normal. -this is broken. please fix.
  6. on my JK Guardian, I had equipped a pretty typical robe with a hood. I had been searching for some time to locate a heavy-armor headpiece that would toggle the hood into it's DOWN position. Well, with this latest patch... equipping the robe disables my 'hair' and equipping the headpiece that toggles the hood down, does not 'enable' my hair back on... making me bald! when I have the headpiece on, and no chest item equipped... I see my hair. when I equip my robe... it correctly shows with my hood down... but I suddenly have no hair!
  7. LOL -oh this is good. I've got one word for you to google: "panalacs" During the Cold War... not a SINGLE capitol city behind the Iron Curtain created anything architecturally stunning or aesthetically pleasing to the eye. In fact.. in many post-cold-war cities you will visit, there is one very dominant contribution to that city's skyline... the "TV Tower" -a HUGE broadcast spire created to be a visual piece of architectural 'eye' candy, and in effect demonstrate to all the western world the dominance of communism over the west. Those 'Towers' seem to alwasy be voted 'ugliest building in XXXXXX' city. -you need to actually VISIT a post-cold-war capitol.. walk around. take pictures... visit some buildings. -the beauty and charm of those cities comes from the architecture created by governments LONG before communism took over. -then after you've gotten your fill of panalacs and other amazing sights, come back to the capitol cities of the Western world... and visit Paris... or San Francisco and walk around and take pictures in the cities created by "A democratic goverment [that] must try to 'please' everyone with voting and compromise..." -now.. if you would like to compare the Republic Fleet to Post-British occupied Colonial America and Czarist Russia... well then maybe you have a point...
  8. I have played exclusively empire characters during beta, but republic characters since release... and last week I played my first Empire toon (past level 7) and went to the Empire Fleet for the first time post Beta... after I stepped off the shuttle, went to the main deck and stepped up the stairts to the main floor... I literally spoke aloud, "Holy *****, this place is SO much nicer!" not that I'm complaining, as I've grown accustomed to the Repub fleet... and 'cluttered hallway or not' aside... just look 'up' -you see banners with 'lighting' for emphasis... the NPC's around the trainers.. and my profession is in the graphic-arts arena, so this sort of thing immediately jumped out at me. what it said to me was that the artists tasked with creating the fleet stations did the Repub fleet FIRST... and then afterwards... they took that pre-built model from Repub and dressed it up to create the fleet for the Empire... and it's as simple as that. From a graphic artist standpoint, the Repub fleet station looks like the rough-draft of the Empire fleet. I think when it comes down to it.. if I were a graphic artist for Bioware who was updating their demo-reel of recent work... I would have all the Empire Fleet environments on my demo and the only thing I would pull from the Republic side, would be the fountain in the Crew Skills quarter.
  9. -you want to balance PvP? change the team # from 10-man to 12 man. Write some code into the cue that ONLY allows a maximum of 3 of any single class. don't allow the match to start until you have a minimum of 9 on each side. At least this way, in the grand scheme of rock-paper-scissors which is supposed to be the class-makeup, if every warzone had 3 of each class (12 total) no one side is overrun with a single class that happens to have the class-abilities most beneficial to taking advantage of some warzone terrain layouts. -and keep regular stats on win/losses based on faction v. faction... if any single faction starts overwhelmingly dominating, perhaps a temporary handicap on damage, or slower res-timer, or increased crit multipliers for the side getting pwned... ...i mean c'mon... pvp is supposed to be fun, right? it's the spirit of competion! If one side is continually kicking the crap out of the other side, then for crit sake, spot 'em a few points... keep it interesting!!! -and when it comes to bragging rights... the team who is playing WITH a handicap, if they pull off a win, then THEY get a bigger bonus than usual as well for defeating a sleightly more buffed opponent... the more difficult the opponent, the greater the rewards!!!! -remember, the objective here is for EVERYONE to have fun... if a larger number of good players are drawn to one particular faction, then those good players deserve a challenge more fitting to their more refined skill level... and those fewer good players left on the faction with fewer good players can have a better chance of carrying the lame ducks and actually making a GAME out of it!
  10. my two favorite lines so far have been: "Don't worry, she'll be safer than a senator's daughter in a room full of Jedi." and: "...well I'll be hung by a chancellor's shorts."

    PvP Problems

Please please please, to all that is holy among the gaming creators of SWTOR... please do not do to SWTOR what Blizz did to pvp in WoW. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not make pvp-only gear stats that do not translate into the PVE world, and vice-versa. I acknowledge to the hardcore PVP'ers out there who work very hard for their gear, because I used to be you. I just to do nothing but pvp... if I was logged in, I was in a fight somewhere, either in a BG, or defending some town, or hunting down some dog who was known as a ganker. And I had great gear to back it up. Investing the time and energy into building that pvp-gear should definitely far out-weigh the casual pvp'er. On the flip side... If I invest the time and energy to organize 20+ people together to defeat the MOST difficult content in the game... the gear that "I" earn from that which is MOST DIFFICULT, should NOT render me near-useless in a PvP situation. PLEASE do not go down the path that WoW did by killing PvP by creating a pvp-only stat that was ONLY available on PvP gear, and if you didn't have it, you were cut down with ease by someone who did. If I am among the most progressed in content kills on whatever server and have the gear to back it up... just because I don't "LIVE" in a pvp war-zone shouldn't make my survival chances average or below average. and vice versa... if I have killer PvP gear, and get invited to join end-game content, I shouldn't be weak and in-effective. There 'ARE' people out there who are very talented in PvP, who work hard, research their class and practice their strats to become good... who just do not have the time to invest in both constant PVP battles AND constant PVE raiding... and there 'ARE' people out there who are very talented players, who work hard, research their class and practice their strats to become good, who just don't have the opportunity or schedule availability to run specific days/times in end-game raiding guilds. in both cases... when one from one world enters the other... they shouldn't be considered 2nd class players based JUST on the gear needed for one sucks if it comes from the other. What ends up happening is a huge rift between the two, and the most dedicated players from each are not always to walk in each others' worlds... which really sucks. just because I have a job and a family and hobbies 'other' than being logged into an MMO 10-hrs per day shouldn't penalize me in pvp if I only pve... and vice versa if i'm able to only dedicate my online time to one.
  13. I love these discussions. so, what's better in pvp... rock? paper? or scissors?!?!? -oh, scissors totally is the best! -well until rock comes along... but hey, if scissors knows a few good papers, that rock is SO covered! -jk. in my pvp experience from Beta playing a gunslinger, I was usually either #1 or #2 damage dealer for the battlegrounds and usually was near or at the top in # of kills... although while I was playing, most of the time I felt like I wasn't doing much, or was too easily CC'ed by the inquisitors and other force-users. Regardless, I had fun, and I hope you choose the class you have the most fun. -just keep in mind there will always be other classes that are easier and harder to kill for your class... how often you come out on top, blowing the residual smoke from the barrel of your blaster will be the REAL comment on best pvp class... just remember, what's best for YOU isn't necessarily THE best in pvp... when it comes down to it, "the best" pvp class is always the class that the MOST people are able to get the MOST proficient with... so pick a class, and get REALLY good at it.. and then... you'll be the best! ~good hunting!
