  1. Been a while, so just gonna extend a hand to my fellow veterans. This holiday season is a time of joy for many, but a time of quiet contemplation, remorse, and/or loneliness for others. According to this article, the ratio of veteran suicides has not only surpassed that of civilians, but now outnumbers KIA's. This is unacceptable. We at MilitaryGamers.com support each other, take care of each other. And all of you who have served - reserves, active, guard, retired, deployed or no - are invited to be part of the family. There are no restrictions on branch, rank, games played (or server, or faction). Hell, even if you're not a gamer, stumbled across this by accident, you're welcome. Because I am my brother's keeper.
  2. ....and it's gone again. Bright, come back! We need adorable baby companions after the rigors of
  3. /rez thread They say they did, Orange, but they also say they fixed the bug which causes people to crash at the end of Esseles and Black Talon. There are some people to whom it still happens, though I was fortunate to be spared that particular bug. Hey EA, you there? Loyal gamer still waiting on a response. (I had a little extra time while my game fails to initialize because of "unspecified error".)
  4. That's probably it. But I'd like to clarify the mission availability parameters. One regular bounty per day per character. Each kingpin can be done once per WEEK per character. Confused? Say you have 4 characters level 15+. Smuggler, Warrior, Bounty Hunter, Consular. Smuggler can do one regular contract per day. So can warrior, BH, and consular. Total of 28 possible regular bounties for the week. Smuggler has Nar Shaddaa and Tatooine Kingpins. Each of these can be done once per week, but you can only choose one per day. Warrior has the Alderaan Kingpin bounty. That's all he can do this week (unless he buys another kingpin contract.) BH has Kingpin contracts for Dromund Kaas, Nar Shaddaa, Voss, and Hutta. Add four more contracts complete for the week. Consular hasn't purchased any Kingpin contracts. He's limited to the regular ones for now. Adding this all up, you can earn a total of 35 completed contracts for the week. Kingpin contracts cost 5 completed contract forms, so you have another 7 contracts available the next time Bounty Contract Week rolls around.
  5. Hope the devs are watching this thread. I saw a couple good questions in here. One more for the list: When is the next Bounty Contract Week? Would be nice to have notice further in advance so I can work it into my guild events calendar.
  6. First post, second paragraph. The whisper system still has this bug. I also frequently use VOIPs, but I'm not about to pull a pug or someone I don't know into my server. Whispers are also used often in RP. Then there are those whose computers or internet connection can't handle running SWTOR and a VOIP at the same time. (Yeah, they're still out there.) SIM would still be a welcome program, I don't doubt. As I said in my most recent post, it's not even whether EA decides to accept or reject this idea (although I would obviously prefer the former). It's the apparent lack of interest in customers' feedback which bothers me now.
  7. *waves* Just wondering if the devs still read the suggestion forums. Mine is the only suggestion of this nature, and so far the responses are 100% positive. But 3 months later, and no response from EA. Not expecting a solid answer of "yes, we'll do this" or "No, we don't plan to implement this feature". Just a little blurb saying the idea has been sent up and considered. Obviously the players want it, especially since the current whisper system is STILL broken. Edit: Five months since the original post; three months since the most recent post prior to this one. WAY too long.
  8. Seems to be unanimous - people love the idea. Get on it, Bioware. Give your devoted gamers something they really want. *patiently waits for developer response*
  9. Sorry, finally got a chance to catch up on my reading, so I'm posting a bunch of responses all at once. It was probably just pudding. Hmmm..... I'm gonna have to try that sometime. Would make babysitting soldiers and children alike MUCH more interesting. Yeah! After all, the Republic didn't take NEAR as long to rebuild as the Empire. Empire was out for how many hundred years? Creeeeeeepy....... Gonna miss watching the toddler-versions of the SWTOR companions do.... all the crazy stuff you've been having them do. I don't doubt you'll still see an occasional reply to this thread from latecomers. Would you mind posting links to some of the other things you're working on? I know there are some scattered around this thread, but a list of them at the end of the FCD series would be handy. That said, see you around the galaxy!
  10. I've seen a number of threads decrying the flaws of the "whisper" feature in SWTOR. I agree with them; the "whisper" feature needs an overhaul. I've also seen a number of threads with varied opinions about addons. Long story short, it doesn't look like addons will ever be allowed. That's fine by me. However, this DOES mean there is more weight placed on the devs' shoulders to make things work as they should. All too often, someone will be typing a response to person 1, get a whisper from person 2, hit enter, then facepalm when the message intended for person 1 goes to person 2. Hope that wasn't sensitive info, buddy! Now there IS a workaround, but it can be a pain sometimes: Go back through your chat log, and find the last time the person you want to reply to said something to you. Click on their name, and it will send the response to that person, even if you get a message from someone else while you're typing. For some reason, this doesn't work by clicking on the person's name from the last time YOU whispered THEM. Following so far? If you are, good. If not, you'll probably agree with this idea... *drumroll* SWTOR Instant Messenger. "SIM" for short. Now I can't take credit for this idea; someone created an addon for World of Warcraft called "WoW Instant Messenger" (WIM), and I LOVED it. As a guild leader in WoW, I was frequently in conversations with multiple people, and having separate windows for each spared me a lot of headaches. But it was an addon, and SWTOR doesn't allow addons. Great, so make it a feature. Hell, make it available to subscribers only, if you want. Just so long as we don't have to deal with whispers going to the wrong people anymore. Problems with the "whisper" feature = solved. *Takes a bow*
  11. ^ What they said. One of my guildmates has a name starting with that AE letter. *facepalm* Love the idea of mass mail for guild members, too. I recommend that be a permission the guild leader can set, along with the already-existent abilities to view/set member notes and officer notes, promote members, invite new members, etc.
  12. From one veteran to another (and to active duty and reservists, of course), thank you for serving. All of you have a standing invitation to join Military Gamers (militarygamers.com). You probably play on a different server - that's fine. We'd be overjoyed if you transferred to The Ebon Hawk to join us, but even if you choose to stay on your own server, the website provides a military community for everything else: VA problems, pre- and post-deployment (and for some, a place to go during deployment!), technical stuff, and just general bs'ing with people like yourselves. - Stray Tracer Cpl, USMC 1998-2002
  13. It took me a while to figure it out because the hexes are dark, but there's also a small 3-hex area along the road north of the Imperial outpost. It's a heroic area called Republic Shuttle Crash Site, or something similar. Hope this helps someone.
  14. That's not exactly true. Crafted items can crit one of two ways: augment slot or extra output. Crystals (from artificers), stims, medpacs, enhancements, and mods are all in the second category - companions have a chance to create an extra one. This was the case when your post was made, as well. If I'm not mistaken, crit chance is affected by affection, regardless of whether or not that particular companion has crit chance listed as one of his/her abilities. Goshee, thanks for making this guide, if I haven't said it already. It's been up on my toolbar for quick reference for nearly a year now, and I consult it for companion gifts and crew skills fairly frequently.
