  1. Thank you, your post was helpful and informative (I'll definitely keep all that in mind next time), but you also offered some nice alternative suggestions that can make auto-loot a possibility. (I ESPECIALLY like that idea of auto-converting trash loot to credits.) In the end though, at the risk of sounding like a broken record player, all I'm asking is for the OPTION. I'm not saying permanently change the system and no one has a choice, in fact I'm asking for quite the opposite: which is to give us the choice! Lol I mean clearly some people are against this, whereas I myself want this (and I'm sure there are others out there silently agreeing with me), so if we have options then no one loses. As a player, you get to take your pick of how YOU want to play the game, you know?
  2. And that's fine, you seem to struggle with inventory management whereas I don't, which is why I'm asking we get the option for auto-loot. For me personally, it's a much more seamless experience to not have to worry about what it is that I'm collecting while killing mobs and to simply sell to a vendor when I'm done. Let me be clear since I wasn't clear enough in my previous posts: I just want the option. And if we have options, we all win, regardless of what our personal opinions are.
  3. I disagree. I used to play FFXIV, which has auto-loot, and has never been a problem. In fact, I don't recall anyone in that game ever complaining about the auto-loot system. In regards to trash items, it's not a big deal to dump it all between sessions, nor is it difficult to have your companion sell trash items. And if you find yourself constantly struggling with inventory space, then welcome to the world of MMOs where inventory management is the "secret mini-game" that we all have to deal with. If you're concerned about loot that you don't want then maybe the devs can implement a filters option so you can choose which types of items you want to collect. Or even better, just give us a simple option to toggle on/off between auto-loot vs. the old (current) system, so everyone has options. Win-win.
  4. Problem: Manually having to pick up loot is an old MMO feature. Yes, I know there's an option in the settings to make it so you can pick up all the loot within the vicinity, but that still requires manually picking up at least one of them. It's a short process but overtime it adds up and breaks the flow of the questing experience, which makes it time-consuming. But this isn't even the worst part. No, the worst case scenario happened to me a few weeks ago while fighting a boss during a flashpoint. A massive lag spike occurred and after a few seconds I noticed that my AI companions had defeated the boss on my behalf. What dropped was a gold-tier loot and naturally I went to try to grab it... only that I couldn't. For some reason, the lag spike caused the body of the defeated boss to clip through the ground and somehow made the loot unobtainable. I've tried everything from standing directly on top of it, to being a few steps away from it, clicking everything from all angles, but to no avail. In my attempt to fix it, I logged out and logged back in only to find out that in doing so I essentially had left the flashpoint instance, meaning all my progress including the loot that dropped was lost. Needless to say, I was frustrated. And thanks to RNG, that loot (whatever it was) never came back when I tried to re-do the flashpoint. Suggestion: Easy... give us the OPTION to loot automatically. The only time loot should drop to the ground is if there's no inventory space. By implementing this, the grinding experience will be more efficient, but more importantly no one will have to suffer the freak issue that I went through.
  5. Problem: Companions often have interesting things to say about the environment as you go about exploring with them. This usually happens when entering places of note, such as a cantina, a specific area in a dungeon, or stepping into a planet for the first time. The problem is that their voices are almost inaudible due to the game's "surround sound" along with the fact that the companions are always several steps behind the player. So many times I've missed their commentary only to catch it re-posted on my chat log. If I'm quick and I notice they're saying something I would have to frantically rotate my camera to face them so I can hear them, but by that point I would've already missed most of what they had to say. Now sometimes these lines do get repeated, but only after a long span of time has passed before revisiting these areas. But I noticed that in a few cases some of these lines trigger only once. Suggestion: Set the companions' voices to be more like the announcers from the Republic/Imperial fleets where it doesn't matter which direction you're facing, you hear the announcers loud and clear. This way, you will never miss your companion's commentary. Alternatively, maybe set the commentaries to trigger 90-100% of the time. This will ensure that at some point we'll catch them. But honestly, I would prefer my original suggestion over this if at all possible.
  6. Sweet! Thanks for the help, guys. I would hate for one of my toons to be out of character just for the sake of his/her companions lol.
  7. I'm a returning player and I know the companion system has been altered at some point, such as how their gear is now cosmetic apparently (which I'm okay with). But something that still hasn't made much sense to me is how approval and influence work. 1. Is there a difference between approval/disapproval of your actions versus influence? 2. If so, does that affect how well a companion performs when you bring him/her with you? 3. Can I still romance a companion who constantly disapproves of my actions or has low influence? 4. As a follow-up to the question above, should I depend on gifts? Sorry for the noob questions. I just started playing a Jedi Guardian and I wanted him to be a dark jedi, and my companions made it known rather quickly that they don't like what I'm doing. I'm worried that this will make it hard to romance companions let alone rely on them later on.
  8. Ironically enough my Bounty Hunter got credit for competing his class story. It's my Jedi Consular that did not. So I really hope that Bioware looks at ALL the classes because it's certainly NOT limited to the Smugglers and Bounty Hunters. And I think threads such as this one is proof of that.
  9. My consular completed the third chapter, got the achievement IIRC, and even went as far as finishing Ilum. http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=8953275 The 4.5 patch came. It did NOT get fixed.
  10. Unfortunately it did not. Even more unfortunate is that I actually submitted a support ticket a few of weeks ago and they replied that it would be fixed with 4.5 but it did not.
  11. @ DWillikers: Okay, thanks for the heads up. I figured that's all I needed to do as well, as in just complete the first three (main) chapters of the class story. I'm sorry to hear that you're in the same boat as I am. To answer your question, no, I'm not playing as smuggler but as a consular. @ Spearo: Lucky! I tried to do the same with my consular but no success. As far as I know, whatever pending conversations I had with my companions thus far were already complete. (None of the companions have max influence yet, but I don't know if that matters.) I don't have any pending class quests either, but I do have some random missions as well as Ilum. I don't have access to the expansion packs either, but I also assumed that we only needed to complete the original class chapters, which were chapters 1 through 3. I guess this isn't really a big problem for now since there's no way I'll end up getting Legendary status anytime soon, but the OCD in me is a little annoyed that it still says 0/8 class quests completed when I'm pretty sure at least one is done lol.
  12. I just finished CHAPTER 3 on one of my characters today and now on the loading screen I see INTERLUDE, which I'm assuming means I will need to go forth with the expansion packs. So on my character select screen it still says 0/8 classes completed. Do I have to finish the rest of the chapters, i.e. the ones from the expansion packs, in order to actually get credit for completing a class? Otherwise, what do I do from this point on? (Note that I haven't started the Ilum mission that I got from my ship, but I didn't think this was considered an actual class quest.) Thanks!
  13. So I'm a returning player (since like two weeks ago) and I noticed I received a bunch of in-game emails from the SWTOR team with rewards like the May the 4th droids for example. I just wanted to know if these are account-wide, or if they're bound to a character once claimed and therefore not available to another character afterwards? Thanks.
  14. Thanks for the heads up. I did some testing and I haven't run into the problem (knock on wood!), so I guess the issue is resolved.
