  1. I actually can't think of many MMO's that have truely "died". Nearly all the ones launched are still going, even some of the earliest ones. SoE seem to be the only people who shut MMO's down (Matrix Online, SWG etc), but EQ1 is still going, DAoC still runs etc and they were some of the earlier ones to launch. Yes many have gone F2P, or potter along with small subs, but they are mostly all still there.....
  2. I would like to think (oh please let me be right) that when they implement penalties for WZ quitters, they are able to tell the difference between someone who pressed the "Leave Warzone" button, and people who leave a WZ for a miriad of other reasons (connection loss, getting dumped to char select coz of buggy WZ's etc.). If they cannot distinguish between these things, then they should not introduce penalties until they can......
  3. +1 We've experienced most, if not all of these.
  4. Just want to say that this looks awesome and I can't wait until it's implemented Obviously you'll never please everyone (and boy would the world be dull if we all agreed), but at least this way everyone has a number of choices, including leaving it how it is....
  5. I can't exactly put it into words, but I have played LOADS of MMOs, and none of the others have had a problem adequately displaying when abilities can or cannot be used on hotbars, and I have no issues with any other flashing lights or graphics, *but* there is definitely something about this latest ability cooldown display method that really makes it uncomfortable to use, and hard to look at to spot when you can use an ability. As I said in another thread, on my screen it's a bit like looking at an LCD screen outside it's viewing angle and I keep wanting to move my head to see the buttons better. I had no issues with the original version, or the "version 2" before this latest patch (although I will admit with version 2, it was a little difficult to see when something was ready for use with certain abilities that were certain colours when it got close to the end of the cooldown.).
  6. Just wading in so they get a feel for how many people don't like this, with my opinion, and that is, it's horrible! The original I didn't see a problem with, 2nd version I also had no problem with, although it was a little hard to tell when some abilities were ready depending on the colour and design of the graphic for the ability, but this latest iteration hurts my eyes. To me the effect looks a bit like trying to view an LCD panel from outside it's viewing angle, and I keep wanting to move my head to see if I can see things better, and yes, it has a quality that I can't quite describe but makes my head hurt to concentrate on for a period of time. My first use of it was actually in a Op, and it was only our 2nd time of trying a Hard Mode, so I had to concentrate hard anyway to keep everyone healed, and this new cooldown effect made that soooo much more stressful.
  7. I will only accept blind invites if it's completely obvious what it's for, like we're all standing at the spawn spot for a named mob that's a quest update, otherwise I'm with the "if you don't speak to me first, I'm declining your invite" crowd on this.
  8. Happens all the time, to lots of people. I've stopped doing WZ's until I see something in the patch notes to say it's fixed, coz I'm sick of wins not counting myself.
  9. /signed I would love an extra bar in the middle, especially as with a widescreen monitor the left and right bars are a loooong way away - hehe!
  10. I'm 41, female, and been playing multi-user games since before the internet ;p Started with MUD's and bulletin boards on a 1200/75 dial-up modem. First MMORPG was EQ when it came out. Played that, then EQ2, WAR, Rift, LOTRO, even tried WoW when I got desperate but the community drove me to distraction - thank god I had a guild to join so I could turn off the general chat channels! At the height of my MMO gaming I was co-running a raiding guild that was based on a US server in EQ2 with my husband and I wasn't quite sure of the definition of a good night's sleep (raids starting at 1-2am my time anyone? URGH!) Work from home as a Product Manager for a Software company, and also manage to make it to the gym 5 times a week, as well as having a level capped character, and I'm not quite sure where I find the time! Currently part of a gaming community that doesn't let anyone under 16 in, and the average age is more around the 30 mark, so it's a fun place to be
  11. Interesting - I wasn't respawning there when I died - I was respawning by the taxi droid.
  12. Apologies if there is already thread(s) about this, but it appears the search function has run away again..... Has it already been raised about Warzone wins not counting towards the Daily/Weekly quests? I am not a huge warzone/PvP fan, but I do enough to try to complete these quests and it drives me to distraction when more than once in an evening, a win does not count. It's hard enough to get a Republic win as it is, without it then not counting :-( Many others in my guild have the same issue, but I have to admit I don't recall reading a previous thread about it on the forums - but stuff disappears off the first few pages so fast at the moment I may have missed it.....
  13. On our server we have The Mint Imperials and The Revel Alliance, plus Yavin a Good Time as guilds, which all made me chuckle. We also have Guybrush Threepwood :-)

    sorcs

I'm not a sorc, but I do know that the majority of their DPS abilities have a lightning type animation, so they probably aren't spamming the same ability over and over, it's just alot of them look the same to a casual observer.....
  15. Ah hoped someone else had posted about this! Admittedly I've not yet been kicked but the timer has come very close before the wall came down and let me out. I'm sure it's longer than 15 secs sometimes. Sometimes it's not even there, and other times, for example in Voidstar, I've sat and watched the opposite team run all the way through from their end to our door and start planting a bomb completely unhindered because we were all stuck behing the stupid invisible wall, staring at our delinquency timers - got to the point where the warning came up on screen that we'd be kicked if we didn't get going! And this is not even due to long loading in times - I don't generally suffer from those.
