  1. This is probably mine. My smuggler is in it for the money... Mostly. He has a good heart and an honourable code. he also realises that if the Empire ruled the universe, it'd be harder to make a living out of what he does best. So helping the Republic from time to time benefits both parties. Although he does find it annoying that people keep calling him a war hero. He just wants to smuggle stuff dammit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNWR_DlewN4
  2. So I've been messing about with this skill. I thought awesome big explosion but that's really it. The ability implies that you're crew fly by and blow up the enemy... Now understand I was only ever using this ability when my camera was aimed at the ground or straight forward. Or I was using this ability with a low roof. I was on Tatooine one day waiting for the balloon to get the datacron when I thought. "Hmm, the blast is supposed to come from over my head. I wonder if anything happens." I use the skill in front of me and look up and oh my god, that was awesome. It's the little things that make this game awesome.
  3. There are rare spawns arn't there. They're just in the form of a field boss.
  4. Ok so I'm one of the people that thinks that the Space Combat has great potential to be amazing. And while it will take a VERY long time for it to change, here is a detailed suggestion on how to expand on an already good concept. BEWARE: WALL OF TEXT INCOMING First things first: Derailment! Let's talk about getting us off the rails. I, along with many others would like for the combat to be free flight. This means flying where we want in a mission. However, this would take forever to implement because of the AI that would be needed to implement. As far as I'm aware, enemy fighters also follow set paths. Giving us free flight, would mean giving the enemy fighters free flight so that they can intercept us. If the enemies stay on a set path while we fly whereever we want, it would be to easy. Also the difficulty of the mission would have to be ramped up, this is because, giving us free flight would mean we can focus on objectives more. A way to fix this would be to have the guns focus on usa little more and do slightly more damage with a higher rate of fire perhaps. This would also make us take evasive measures more which would keeps missions 'epic' as opposed to us flying straight towards that space station/capitial ship firing at their key points. We would have to skillfully fly around to evade the shooting whilst trying to take them out too. Second Topic: Keep the on rails Now while I am a fan of free-flight, I know that not everyone out there would like the change. Therefore, Bioware (if they read this and implement ANY of it) should keep the on-rails shooter aspect. However, to keep both free-flyers and on-railers happy, both modes would need to incorporate a set of AI EACH. This would take longer which means missions may be shorter and fewer and further between new ones. A good way to select which type of space combat would be easy. When you get to the mission briefing on the Galaxy map, have two buttons. One for free-flight mission. One for on-rails mission. Both would give the same XP and Credits. Third Topic: Multiplayer I personally think multiplayer would be amazing for Space Combat. If you're in a group when you begin the mission, you group will be given a notification saying that you are starting a space mission. If they accept, then they join you, or they can decline. If you are playing the on-rails style then your friend follows your rail with you. However, it should be made that all player ships can fly through eachother, otherwise collision with your friends would happen and could spell disaster for the mission. If it free flight, then your friend flies where they want like you would. With multiplayer also comes the idea of space based heroics. Grab a group, select the heroic on the Galaxy map. Wait for all players to accept and away you go. Of course. 2+ or 4+, it doesn't matter. There should be a time on how long you have to accept or deline. The mission shouldn't start until everyone has accepted/declined. If they haven't by the time the time hits zero, then they automatically decline the auto invite. Fourth Topic: PVP Many people have been calling for PVP Space Combat. This would be cool to see and I would definatly have a go. The way I see it, is that on the Galaxy map, there are area of 'PVP Space' you can fly to. When you get there you spawn next to your own captial ship and fly towards the fighting. No on-rails here, its all free flight. When you blow up you spawn again next to your capital ship. If objective based combat is implemented then of course it would be to take out the enemies cap ship. I would personally say 8v8 is the max size. The way to leave the area would be to press the jumpt to hyperspace button which takes you to the fleet station. Of course, the button can't pressed when you're in combat with another fighter. It's an out-of-combat button. This is to prevent exploiting it. Fifth Topic: A couple of other things How would you control free flight? I personally think it would be as simple as locking the crosshairs on the centre of the screen, then when you move the mouse, you begin to change direction. The further you move your mouse to the edge of the screen, the harder you turn. Then just click to shoot as normal. Simple right. Something occured to me though, and it is that people may want to be able to change their speed. I think that if people have the option to slow down or speed up, it would alter the spicness. People would slow down to try and run rings around their opponent, and they would do the same, resulting in people just flying in circles. Combat needs to be kept a fast paced affair, so speed shouldn't change although, I'm fine with a speed boost button for a short burst of speed for when you're in a tight spot. I'm done now I can't think of anything else to talk about. These ideas make Space Combat more interesting whilst, I hope, not to complicated. The complicated the ideas are, the more they will just get swept under a rug. Feel free to pick my ideas to pieces. This what I would personally like to see. And we won't get any Change to Space combat for a while. there's just to much to change/fix first.
  5. Love the idea. I never got a 3d model of my WoW Dwarf Shaman cus he's a dwarf in funny armour. BUT if I could have a 3d model of my Scoundrel with a wide brimmed hat, a blaster on his side and a trench coat. I'd buy it and proudly have it sitting next to my other models that I have proudly collected.
  6. I think WoW had a barber shop system where you could redesign your hair and beard. I can see why people would like to change the style of their character but I think a whole 'from scratch' character redesign is over the top. I spent 2 days making my "perfect" looking charcter, even got to lvl 2 and rerolled twice cus I didn't like the way he looked. I'm not saying don't implement it because it took me ages and I don't want my efforts to go to waste. I'm saying that people should take the time to create their character and take pride in who they have. BUT while I wouldn't use it. Minor chages like a place to redo your hair and beard (maybe a couple more facial feature) would be welcomed.
  7. My stance on this = NO to advance class respec. it a class thus not something to be taken likely. WoW wouldn't let you do it and neither should ToR.
  8. I agree. Being a light side Scoundrel. I want my blaster to shoot blue bolts (light the clones guns from SW EP2: AotC). Orange and green bolts are boring now. But all the blue crystals I find are not very good in terms of stats and are even outclassed by the color crystal that comes with the orange equip itself. I'm the kind of player who greatly values the asthetics of his character which means alot of my enjoyment comes from my character looking good. I'm always on the hunt for the 'perfect' looking blaster or the 'perfect' looking chest piece. Orange gear fill that roll nicely. And I want my blaster to shoot blue bolts whilst not being gimped in stats. I agree with this idea greatly.
  9. Yes. I'm happy with it's state, ok sure there's thing I'd like to be changed and there's stuff I would like added but then again... This is still a young game.
  10. When I bought the game, I was going to go either Bounty Hunter or Smuggler. Smuggler clinched for me for a couple of reason. 1# I've played KOTOR and the Ebon Hawk a ship I grew to love... And the XS is the Ebon Hawk's lovechild. And the Falcon's granddaddy not to forget. 2# I get to be like Han bloody Solo. 3# Wookie companion 3# My rl mates went republic, so did I. The reason I wanted to go Bounty hunter was because they get jet packs and arm mounted missile launchers, I could pretend to be Jango Fett. Their ship looks horrible in my opinion though... FOR THE REPUBLIC, AND FOR SMUGGLERS EVERYWHERE... Anger us and we'll kick you in the junk... Alot.
  11. Hi guys. I've been playing for about 2 weeks now and there's some things that I have noticed. And would possibly like changed/added. - Duel Spec: I like to be a DPS spec on my own, I like to heal when I'm in groups. I'd love to change on the fly to suit my needs. However, I do not want to see the ability to change advance class. I spent 4 days choosing between Scoundrel and Gunslinger and that was the fun part of the game. That choice would be meaningless if I could just change. - Comparing new gear to companion's gear: Trying to gear up my companion is slightly annoying because of the fact I have to manually compare the new gear to what they're wearing, where the new gear and my gear get compared down to the stat changes. My guild mates said that this was implemented in the beta, I don't know why it's changed. - Previewing weapons: We can preview our armour by ctrl/clicking on it to see what it looks like without actually buying or equipping it. I can do this with weapons, they don't show up. I like to run around and look at the weapons I can't actually buy. I'm a window shopping in MMO's. - Multiplayer Space Combat: This is a tall order because Bioware's stance of "we're not focusing on this part of the game, it's just an addon". But I love it and I think it has so much room for potential. Adding a multiplayer element would be amazing. Just as long as the ships don't collide and can easily fly through eachother (like normal players can). Hell, they could go all the way and have the ships fly along different flight paths and as we're flying around we see our ally in the distance attacking from a different flank. It would allow for Heroic group space missions to. Also, guild Capital Ships. Not sure on the progress of this but I would love to walk around my very own guild's cruiser. Other than that, I can't think of much else right now, but I'm only level 23. Discuss...
  12. Is there any news on Duel Spec for us. I like to DPS when on my own but I like to heal in groups. And constantly paying to respec isn't viable because of the costs. Being able to change on the fly would be greatly appreciated. However, I would like it that you don't let us change advance class. It would spoil the fun of choosing if we know we can just change.
  13. Could all you lovely Scoundrels give me some advice and opinions of the build I'm working towards. http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#7010cZGbZGbbkrrhdhR.1 Pick to pieces and tell me what's wrong and stuff.
  14. Zyble here, blaster in hand and mah girl in the other Legacy name will probably be Dryva when I get it. Although part of me is wishing I called him Darian Frey (props to the guys who knows where he's from)
