  1. I've just returned to the game a little over a month ago. Am a founder from launch and was leading a progression raiding guild on that server, Pot5, and remember these infamous words. Thanks for the reminder and the chuckle it brought me to hear them again. Fond memories of a fun time.
  2. Thanks for replying. What is "pre-modded"?
  3. I played for a few years at launch. I've got banks of items stashed from when I left almost five years ago. Have CM items been re-released over time or when they stopped selling certain items was it for good?
  4. I've read through this thread. There are many tone deaf people posting as is usually the case in games and online in general. I played at launch and ran a large raiding guild that was very successful at clearing content. We had access to tons of mats and schematics from items in the operations. This led to the accumulation of a great deal of wealth as a guild and individual members. When I left almost five years ago we used the 100's of millions of credits for many different things. Upon returning it is shocking to see what the costs of things are now. Personally I've got items no longer available in the game to sell and cargo holds full of CC items from years ago to liquidate, but not everyone has that to depend on. What many fail to realize is that as a business, EA/Bioware, is trying to make money. Two sources of revenue are (1) new players inspired by the influx of SW content on D+ and (2) returning players who may be also be reminded of what they miss about this game and think they would give it another shot. These are the two groups affected by the misapplied credit sinks. You want the game to be appealing enough that they stick around and sub and/or drop money in the shop. But if they play long enough they will see it is indeed not friendly to these groups. There is a wall that can only be breached by surrendering your playing of the game to focus on economy by either "playing" the GTN or intentionally grinding mats, not just collecting them incidentally as you happen to see them. As the game is constructed now it is not possible to have the credits to level all of your crafting/gathering skills, unlock your speeder upgrades, etc. Then when you reach max level how long will it take to be able to buy the set pieces from the vendor for your character, re-roll amplifiers, add augment slots, get augments, buy schematics from the weekend vendor, afford repairs from dying in operations, and so on? This is not counting what it would take to learn the best schematic for crafted items and pulling mods to itemize your gear or even to fill the set bonus shells! Credit sinks that are in the game from the start are there to manage the economy and keep it stable, as in not have a HUGE disparity between players. Well other than a few million credit mounts that didn't exist in the game. Some of us accumulated massive amounts of credits due to having the time to make them and access through raiding and getting schematics from reverse-engineering items in operations to then sell. As it stands now to compensate for the inflation the devs have decided to not target the ones with massive wealth with the credit sinks, but have acted in a punitive manner by levying harsh costs on ALL players for not QoL items or convenience items, but for things necessary to normal gameplay. It is expected that when gearing toons at the minimum players would seek to have the best items available on vendors, anything further would require coordinated group play. That is not really possible currently. It costs many millions just to gear one toon with the set piece items and pulling mods to put in them. Just for ONE character. This puts players in a predicament that forces them to surrender actually playing the game to make credits or they are forced to buy cartel items to sell even if they are a subscriber, or they may just retire from the game. A true credit sink would be something that does not punish the average player and rewards those who are choosing to play the financial side of the game. Perhaps a true VIP area could be created on the fleet or a part of a planet somewhere that had an astronomical cost to join. In the club would be vendors with items only available there. There could be a terminal like in WoW where maybe a one-off mount would pop up once a month and had to be won by a high bid. The player gets to ride around in a mount nobody else has but it doesn't disrupt the gameplay of everyone else trying to gear up, etc. It takes the credits out of the economy and is not punishing players who don't want to make finance the focus of their time in the game.
  5. There is no hope of balancing the factions in this game. Eguildhq@gmail.com
  6. We're sitting on 200mil credits and don't know what to do with them. Any suggestions?
