  1. So what you are saying is that we will now have to enter our credit card number?
  2. Yes. It almost happened before with SOPA, and it's happening now in the EU with article 17.
  3. Of course it will. Most of the internet will probably have to shut down, and no matter how much people protest, the government's answer will always be an emphatic "no".
  4. But there are multiple places that say, when it pertains to youtube, marking "not for kids" will not save you from being fined, why not so for age gates and other forms of verification?
  5. I heard that asking if you are over 13 when you create an accoun't doesn't mean anything anymore, since it's easy for kids to lie about their age. Now, COPPA compliance will be based solely on content. If it is deemed to be attractive to children, then they cannot collect information, full stop, no matter what kind of age verification system is in play.
  6. From what I hear, merely asking you if you are over 13 when you create an account will no longer be enough to protect someone from being fined, and content of a game itself can be used as an argument that kids' data is being collected. This effectively makes it illegal to have a game that requires an account to play, since according to the FTC, all video games are geared towards kids. Since SWTOR would fit into the FTC's definition of "child-oriented", and you need an account to play (which collects information), could this spell the end for SWTOR?
  7. In the coming months there will almost certainly be proposed legislation to restrict the sale of M rated games to minors. However, M is already rated for 17+ while the new regulations will not allow them to be sold to anyone under 18. Since it doesn't make sense to have two ratings for 18+, M and AO will likely be merged. This means that games that would previously be rated AO, will only get an M. This means that retailers will no longer be able to choose not to sell these games, as they have the same rating as titles that they never had any qualms about selling. Since the main reason you don't see any AO games today is because nobody will sell them, you will see more games with AO content, as they can now be sold along with other M games.
  8. Are other classes allowed to boost to 75?
  9. I have had the new patch downloaded for a day now, but the PTS is still offline.
  10. They said in the livestream that Ossus story won't be on PTS. Ossus dailies and WB will, but probably not with this patch.
  11. Didn't you say this last week (minus the downtime)?
  12. Most likely when I'm out of town this weekend, and when I come back the PTS will be down.
