  1. The game is essentially on maintenance mode. Don't expect story content more than once or twice a year.
  2. This is still an issue 7 years later.
  3. I've been slowly playing through the game in order, hit 75 at the start of Chapter 2 and am chugging through Chapter 3. It's a ways off, but I've seen a lot of psots complaining about the walker missions in KOTET/KOTFE and I was wondering if they're still broken, and if there's anything I can do to make them less so? I just want to go through the story.
  4. Lot of people getting trolled in this thread.
  5. I don't like action based MMO combat systems.
  6. It's crazy how you manage to come off as condescending in every post you make.
  7. I mean, the OP is clearly a troll so I feel kinda dumb trying to talk to him like it's a real discussion at this point.
  8. The people above me said it better than I did, and I agree with them 100%. A good, smart RPer will always be vague enough to cover possible retcons because retconning RP doesn't always only just affect you. It's just polite not tod rag others into your RP if it treads on potentially shaky ground lore wise. I'll use an example from my "main MMO": FFXIV. Before and during the first expansion there was a character named Yugiri who was completely hooded aside from a visible tail and what looked like points in her hood for ears or a horn, speculation was rabid about which race she might end up being and whether it would be something new or something taken from another game in the franchise. Then you had people -so sure- it was going to be Viera (bunny people from Final Fantasy 12) they began RPing as secret Viera because they just knew they'd be added as a confirmed race down the road. Can you guess what happened? Yugiri was shown to be a completely new race called the Au'ra later down the road, and now those people had a choice: retcon months and months of RP that involved untold number of people, potentially putting them out in the process if they built on that RP or continue to RP a race that had no way to be there and essentially be a walking case of non-canon. It's the same whenever people would try to RP -as- the Warrior of Light (think the XIV version of the Outlander). Not every player can be the hero who saves the galaxy, and most RPers know to just play as a character in the world the story is set.. not as the hero themselves. RPing around important events in the setting is fine.. RPing that you have intimate knowledge or relationships with story important characters is dangerous ground you'd be smarter avoiding. You say "the community is used to retcons" but I disagree. You don't speak for me, my friends and my community or assumedly the people who posted above me either. EDIT: Let me clarify that a general state of the galaxy would be great, though. Something along the lines of how each planet and faction is sitting. For places where player choice was a huge factor, they can leave it vague and say say something like "X is still in a state of chaos and indecision" until the expansion gets closer and they hammer out what's canon.
  9. I think what makes more sense is that you take a break when the game starts to annoy you, rather than punish everyone who doesn't get along with you. I understand you being frustrated, I get just as irritated about competitive Overwatch and FFXIV, but coming here to throw a tantrum doesn't make you look good. Step back, take a deep breath, and chill.
  10. While I would prefer a more traditional expansion too, saying that it's "easy" to make shows that you don't know anything about anything. Not only is this game essentially in maintenance mode with a tiny fraction of the people working on it compared to WoW or the launch days, but comparing any MMO to WoW is fallacy considering what a flash in the pan it is. It got lucky by being based on a popular IP, the first real MMO of the "new style", and headed by a company with nothing but massive hits under its belt. People stick with it because they've invested more than a decade of their lives into it more than it being the best MMO ever that every other game should emulate. (and please don't accuse me of hating, I enjoy WoW) Only one other MMO has gotten away with being on par or better than WoW and it's FFXIV, and that's after one of the worst MMO launches ever that nearly destroyed the company. The only thing that sets SWTOR apart from its competition is it's setting and story telling and the few devs they have left surely know better than you do.
  11. Posting like you're shouting at a waitress in a restaurant for getting your receipt wrong doesn't do much to get you sympathy. Like, not saying you're wrong even, but stamping your feet isn't a good look.
  12. Not personally affected by this bug but it's kind of absurd that it's still around after so long. I understand the game has a skeleton crew running it now and may as well be in maintenance mode, but this has been around for years now. Not a good look for people wanting to try the game and stumbling onto threads like these.
  13. Smart RPers divorce themselves from major story events and characters enough that what's "canon" in a multi-choice game doesn't matter so much. As long as we have a general idea of how the galactic stage is set it's fine. The only people who will be bothered by who's dead and who isn't where said choices are affected by players are the ones who RP as being "best buds with Theron and Darth Marrs secret love child", etc. In other words, bad RPers.
  14. When put beside other MMOs, SWTOR really only has the story, housing and Bioware-esque structure going for it. Other games do the typical MMO stuff much better, so it stands to reason they should build on the few things that set them apart and if you're so desperate for serious raiding and PVP you can go to the games that do it much better.
  15. My wife plays these games specifically for the story and romance bits, so yeah, some people do actually care about them. What you want is no more valid than what someone else wants.
