  1. That might be the unintended consequence of introducing ranked warzones (Which I think is a great idea.). More of the PvP premades are going to cut their teeth and level alts in sub50 warzones, especially since some classes got nerfed and maybe they want to level up the better PvP classes. Idk. Whatever it is, it's not safe for pugs, anymore.
  2. I somehow doubt I'm coming up against your marvelous, super-fantastic, kick-butt team every time. But keep up the awesomeness.
  3. I've been pvping with my sub 50 sniper the last two days and while I've only played 6 matches in every one of them we were totally rolled. I remember sub 50 pvp as being much more even. Is it just bad luck on my part or has something seriously changed?
  4. Can I transfer back to my old server? I lost my legacy name because I wanted to be with other people. Only sorta kidding. I worked "hard" to get a popular legacy name first on my old server. Kinda sucks I had to transfer and lose it. My sub is up in August. Losing my legacy name is by no means the reason why I'm leaving; it just doesn't help me stay.
  5. I finally cancelled, today. Overall, I agree with the OP about customization, crafting, etc., but for me the biggest problem is the gear grind. SWTOR has a very engaging storyline and is lots of fun while you're leveling, but the endgame is a gear grind and that gets tedious after a while. I know this is common in most MMOs, but it doesn't have to be this way. I don't know if GW2 is going to be a great game - I'd've stayed in SWTOR, if the endgame was more fun - but at least they have the right mindset: http://www.arena.net/blog/is-it-fun-colin-johanson-on-how-arenanet-measures-success Just in case you don't want to read the whole thing, I'll quote this from the article: "When your game systems are designed to achieve the prime motivation of a subscription-based MMO, you run the risk of sacrificing quality to get as much content in as possible to fill that time. You get leveling systems that take insane amounts of grind to gain a level, loot drop systems that require doing a dungeon with a tiny chance the item you want can drop at the end, raid systems that need huge numbers of people online simultaneously to organize and play, thousands of wash/repeat item-collection or kill-mob quests or dailies with flavor text support, the best stat gear requiring crazy amounts of time to earn, etc." Essentially, his position is the subscription-based model of MMOs leads to this treadmill-like gear grind. Imo, that's where SWTOR is and it is where it keeps going. More dailies, anyone? The endgame gear grind is what I find most boring. I would love to have many of the other things the OP mentions, but I don't think the game will become more interesting or fun unless the grind is fixed. Maybe if the game went F2P like Guild Wars - where you still pay for the game and expansions, the BioWare team can focus more on the fun aspects of the game rather than the grind aspects of the game.
  6. Ahhh. They need mods. I was just assuming it was like my gold gear I can craft where it has the mods. That makes sense, then. kk, ty.
  7. I haven't bought the War Hero gear schematics, yet, so I'm not sure about what they are. So couple of questions: Do the schematics available at the vendors include the full set, armor and weapons? If so, why would I bother to "earn" gear if I can just make it or have it made? It seems like it would take me a long time to earn all the comms i need for a full WH set of armor and weapons, but if I can just make it myself what's to stop me for just crafting a set?
  8. Plus, PvP is suppose to be about skill. How many geared PvPers do you see who don't even know they have an interrupt? Or don't guard their healer? Or just run around slaughtering the lowbies and not focusing on playing the warzone? The problem with gear as imbalanced as it is in the game, is no one really has to learn to PvP, play a warzone or use their skills. With such a huge gear gap, if you have endgame gear, all you pretty much have to learn to do is use your mouse and mash two or three buttons. I think more people would have more fun if PvP was more skill-based. They'd actually be thinking more, winning would mean more and SWTOR would be seen as a fun PvP game. Oh, and people wouldn't be looking down the road to GW2.
  9. Which, btw, is what they used to do in the Mythic forums when a discussion got too "uncomfortable".
  10. The thread I started was closed and I was told to post to this one, so I'm just going to repost my original post from that closed thread. I've read this thread and it covers many of the same points: It's been beaten to death and I hope the devs are listening, but I'm starting a new thread, anyway. I used to pvp every time I logged. Sometimes I'd log and do nothing but pvp. I'd pvp with friends, in groups and I'd pug. Since I pvped a lot, I ended up pugging a lot. Pugs lose a lot, but I didn't care. It was fun to pvp and I knew I was working on closing the gear gap. I'm still not in full BM gear, only a couple of pieces, but that's because I play alts a lot. PvP really sucks, now. I'm pvping at least 60% less than I used to. Here's basically the result of 1.2 pvp "enhancements": 1. You've created a huge reward divide. The result is you've made it much more difficult to bridge that divide and gear up since the loser rewards are frankly paltry. 2. When people start losing, they leave. 3. If people start losing too much, they'll stop pvping for a while. Maybe they log, too. I know I do. 4. People bail when their team gets behind. 5. People leave rather than backfill a losing warzone. 6. Sub 50s pvp can be extremely unrewarding, so unrewarding it's barely worth pvping, resulting in new players getting a terrible impression of SWTOR pvp. That means fewer new subscriptions. Congratulations, BioWare! You're killing the game. (BTW, this really reminds me of the kind of idiocy I'd see at Warhammer. I really hope you don't have the BioWare-Mythic team working on your PvP enhancements.) All that adds up to a whole lot less PvPing from everyone. Is this really what you wanted? There might have been some issues with PvP rewards prior to 1.2, but what you've gone to is far worse. As some people have indicated, this might have come about to cater to "hardcore" pvp guilds. I doubt even they're happy with this system. However, if this is the way you want to go for ranked warzones, you need a different reward system for more casual pvpers. You know, the other 80% of your swtor subscribers. If you cater to the hardcore, you'll end up only with the hardcore playing. This is just getting absurd. Please fix the rewards for warzones. I was pretty happy with the 4 medals system prior to 1.2. I'm still not sure why this drastic change came about. (FYI, I still hate expertise and recommend getting rid of it. It causes much of the gear gap problem. The game would be better off without it.)
  11. You're kinda missing the point of this post and others. If you can't win, you can't get the gear. I've been playing for almost a week, now, with two wins. On many of my alts, there are no wins. It's great if things are working out for you, but they're not for most of the people in the game, now.
  12. Umm, no. Maybe that formula works if you're winning, but if you're losing it's going to take a long time, longer than you're figuring to get those comms. That's part of the issue. I actually could get my BM gear faster pre 1.2. Plus this isn't just about BM gear. It's also about being able to PvP on your alts and get a reasonable compensation. Right now, you can easily end up with zero xp for playing a wz, especially at the lowbie levels. There are so many problems, I'm not going to rehash them all. If you don't agree, that's fine. If you're happy that's cool, too. I know I'm not and judging by most of the posts in the PvP forums and what people are saying in the game, a large majority of people don't like this patch.
  13. Nope. I used to spend about 70% of my time in the game pvping. Expertise just means people who grind can feel uber whether they know how to play or not. GW has it right: Come with your skills, not your armor. A new level 50 has a whole lot less chance against someone in BM. That's not pvping, that's just rolling newbs because you took the time to grind for better armor. There are a lot of complaints about how people don't know how to play warzones; expertise and the extra stats endgame PvP armor gives people greatly contributes to that. People don't have to learn to play, because they don't have to.
  14. FYI, I mentioned this in another thread: I changed my sub to month-to-month. I was subbed for six month at a time. That's how excited and happy I was about this game. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has reduced or cancelled their subs due to this fiasco. I'm not going to cancel just because I have my nerdrage on, but I will if this is an on-going problem when my sub comes up for renewal, again. It's not like I won't have options, with The Secret World, Diablo and GW2 coming.
  15. Guess I'm not a PvPer. And I guess when about 50-60% of the population of this game is gone because PvP sucks, you'll be happier. Hope you and the "PvPers" have lots of fun, then.
