  1. Wow, this thread just keeps going and going... So let me add my 2 cents: I like the level sync. It's always been too much of a suspension of belief that you could go into an area, walk up to the strongest enemy there, and with just an icy glare or perhaps a slightly rank fart, he/she falls like a sack of potatoes! I've been taking advantage of this double XP event to level up my Sentinel, and with ho hum gear, have died just once. My companion was set to damage and we had cleared a map full of enemies. I forgot to heal up and started a cutscene with 25% health. Unfortunately the cutscene ended with a battle facing two elites. We burned one down and had the other almost down when I fell. Would have taken him too, but was eating a sandwich... Generally speaking this ho hum geared Sentinel can take down weak/standard enemies with 1 or 2 shots. Strong enemies might take around 5 seconds, elites might take 10-15 seconds, depending on mechanics (it has a pushback or stun) and a champion generally takes 15-30 seconds. A lot of the gripes about level sync generally involve not being "god-like" when going to lower level planets. Trust me, if you're not god-like when you return to Tython or Korriban at level 65, it isn't because of level sync! What I like about level sync, aside from being more realistic, is 1) I don't have high level jackwagons with a god complex going through and wiping out all the mobs I need to finish my mission; 2) resource nodes aren't being pillaged by said jackwagon with the god complex; and 3) I don't play on a PVP server (not what interests me in this game) but if I did and some d-bag who has been getting pounded in Warzones decides to take his frustration out on lower levels will get a nasty surprise if they were to attack me... For me, level sync says that the little number next to your portrait merely tells everyone else how long you've been playing that character (assuming it's not a pre-fab level 60), nothing more. All level sync does is require a modicum of skill (and very little at that) when returning to your old stomping grounds...
  2. Well I can only help so much. I played Marauder to 50 and I can say the rotation (or rather priorities) are relatively simple, at least for that class. I have not played trooper that far so I cannot compare the two. I wouldn't say it's the only viable. You don't get him until mid 30's on Balmorra. My Jedi Kingt is a DPS Guardian and he did just fine without him. I preferred to play with Kira (melee dps), as the two of us would tear through the trash, though on certain tougher fights it made more sense to use Doc. Not really, but if you really feel you need a healer then go for it. Mine stayed on ship.
  3. As a composer of film and video game soundtracks I'd like to weigh in on this. The soundtrack to this game is simply fantastic. The iconic music of John Williams is blended nicely with original work. With regards to the Imperial March and Duel of Fates not in the game, I would like to point out that the Imperial March can be found on one of the cinematics (The Return I think) when the Sith suddenly appear. And you can hear part of Duel of Fates when your Sith Warrior or Inquisitor leaves fleet on their spaceship. I believe they were not used more because they're so iconic (it was used in the movie Ted for pete's sake) that it would distract too much if they were used much. All in all great job to the team of composers on this game!
  4. I don't agree with the OP, however, there would be times it would be nice to be able to use more companions. If we could use more companions during certain times in the class stories it would give them more of an "epic" feel, and harken back to the movies. It would also be cool to see a bit of interaction among your various companions and give you a chance to use those companions that never see the light of day (Akaavi, Zenith, I'm looking at you:rolleyes:). Otherwise, 1 companion at a time is just fine.
  5. One of the reasons for playing a female character might also be the voice acting. I find the male consular so wooden and dull that I deleted him and rolled a female, which I like much better. The female agent has the best acting IMO, though the male isn't bad either. In total, there's lots of reasons players choose the gender for their characters.
  6. Oh I do understand that the ship is a substitute for housing. I'm just saying it would be cool to have something on the ground too. The beginning of my OP I state that this is just a fantasy, I'm not focusing on the technical aspects of whether it can be done. Put another way, if I had millions of dollars and the technical know-how (plus permission from LucasArts) these are things I might have included. Everyone would have their own list. And I played SWG for about an hour total. Again, I mentioned that most (roughly 98%) of the content should be single or even better grouped. It's just that BW went to great lengths to give our companions depth and personality that it would be nice to take some more along, especially during certain class missions and maybe a solo-mode FP. IMO this would mix things up a bit from the usual healer companions for non healers and tank or dps for healer characters.
  7. First, by small I don't necessarily mean easily done. I just mean as opposed to big changes such as additional pvp warzones, flashpoints, operations, and significant changes in gameplay. These ideas are more of the quality of life category. Basically this is a fantasy. If I could wave a magic wand, this is what I would change. 1. Day/Night cycles and weather effects. While the art design on most locations is stellar, most planets feel a bit stale. I largely attribute this to the lack of day/night cycles and weather. I for one would love to see Coruscant at night, a thunderstorm on Voss, or a sandstorm on Tatooine. The beauty of this game is that each planet would have its own cycle, some could be 24 hours, others could be even days of sun/night. I feel that this small change would go a long way to making each planet feel alive. 2.Multi companions I loved the interplay that companions had in Dragon Age: Origins. This is something I miss in SWTOR. Companions talking to each other is pretty rare in this game. It would be nice if there were occasions where we could summon up to 3 of our other companions. This wouldn't be something that we could always do, just in certain situations. A solo flashpoint for example. Having this ability during some of the class stories would make each storyline that more epic, especially the finale. 3.Housing There's a series of dwellings perched on a cliff in Tatooine that I would love to have the ability to buy and hang out in, in-game. A place where I can bring friends and chill with my companions. Each planet would have a real-estate agent where you can buy housing, as well as furnishings to fully customize it. These little things often extend the life of a game for many players. 4.Custom Armor/Weapon crafting One of the great things about this game is the custom armor available. I feel that this is one of the things that seperates SWTOR from other MMOs. I would like to see it pushed further. I think it would be great if we could craft our own gear (bound to legacy) designed to look the way we want it. I envision a menu much like the character creation menu where we have a variety of different skins that we could combine to create the look we want. I for one would like to create a skimpy costume for one of my male character, but sadly such an outfit isn't in game. Now it could be. 5. Adaptive Armor While on the subject of gear, I'd like to see all custom armor become adaptive armor. The type of armor would be determined by the mod placed in it. I like the traditional jedi robes (hood and all) but some might want to deck them out in trooper gear. And most custom armor could be worn by companions, making them as customizable as your main character. 6. Events and Holidays I'd like to see more world events and some regular holidays. I would not go the WOW route and have holidays that mirror American holidays. Most of these holidays would be planet specific. Say "Trading Season" on Tatooine, where the jawas gather and sell rare items, armor, pets, mounts, ect. They would have a small mission hub and a mini flashpoint where you can earn emblems to buy even more exotic in-game items. This would go a long way to make the game feel more alive. 7. Custom Ships Like armor it would be cool if we could customize our ships both inside and out. Dark side jedi could have a ship that is decidely less zen-like than the current one, while a light-sided sith could have a much less grim place to call home. 8. No more elevators and better travel The only thing I truly hate about this game is the plethora of elevators in every location. I have probably spent more time waiting for the elevator on Hoth than I have in combat on that planet. They don't have to go away, but a simple button would be great so we can call it and move on. In a similar vein, a much shorter cooldown on Quick Travel would be great (or even none at all). I realize that many of the developers want us to explore their beautiful creations, but wow can it be annoying to have to clear a massive cave again just to turn in a mission, which probably could've been turned in via holo, given the tech in this game. 9. More interactive NPC's and random vendors Unless the NPC is a mission giver there's no interaction possible. This is a mild dissapointment. We hear them talking in the background (nice touch btw) but we can't interact with them. It might be nice if we clicked on an npc for them to talk to us for a bit, nothing big, but a sort of "what do you want," or "I've got to get my buns in the oven before the old man gets home" kind of thing. A random conversation as an easter egg would be cool too, maybe even a couple of secret missions. It would also be nice to have random vendors scattered around each planet selling the occasional schematic, crafting material, adrenal, and such. What they sell would be random and they would come and go on a cycle. It might be nice to be able to pick up a Krayt Dragon Pearl from some other means than a crafting mission or the GTN. 10.Guild Housing It sorta goes with player housing, but it would be great if each guild could have a hub for players to chill out. Guilds could buy a cantina or even a capitol ship. The guild housing would be customizable and a place for them to spend massive credits on services like vendors, repair, GTN kiosks, trainers, bank vaults, ect. I believe this would interject to much needed life into many guilds. Anyhoo, thats my 2 cents. I want to say, I love this game and feel Bioware has done an awesome job.Sure there are issues, but what MMO is issue free?
  8. I've always liked Kira, as she is a good foil for a sometimes stuffy Jedi Knight. This is especially true if you are playing lightside. She also has some of the best customizations of all the companions. My only complaint about Kira is that her lightsaber tends to stay on all the time. I always hate to be someone who goes with the crowd, but I'd also like to see Quinn. Mainly because I'm playing my warrior right now and am close to finishing. Aside from that, any male would be good. I've always had a crush on Andronikos Revel.
  9. I believe it is from Episode III Try this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXYyMHfYo34 Title is Going Down (around 14:00) In anycase, this is the full score from the film and an amazing site to hear that great music.
  10. Happy to check in as well! I'm on the Harbinger (10 toons, yikes!) Was in Taint (WOW LGBT guild) for a long time. Considering starting a LGBT friendly guild myself, just trying to find the time, maybe after the new year.
  11. Just caught your thread. Please update and tell us how you're doing. I'm intrigued by the idea and hope it works out for ya'll.
  12. I laughed my *** off on this. It's completely true. I will not group with someone with a stupid name like that. The rare times I have (via groupfinder ect) have almost always ended in disaster. Take some care when naming your character! As an aside there was a character in WOW who frequently chided people for childish comments /behavior in chat. That character's name: Ifartalot.
  13. An interesting idea. I too would have loved to play my stories in the custom gear that I chose and skip many of the side missions. Still, probably not likely to happen, and I doubt there would be massive demand for it in any case.
  14. Don't be hating the Jedi we can all get along, well sorta. Anyway, always glad to finally meet the developers in person (officially that is). This is a great game and you developer have helped make it that way. Great Job!
