  1. Hello Ebon Hawk - I'm not entirely sure what I am looking for, but if there is such a thing as a semi-casual PvP focused guild, I think that would be it. A bit about me: I played SWTOR since early access in the first days - I primarily played PvP with a Smash Guardian, with some PvE when I was bored on a gunslinger. I left a few years ago, and came back around the time of the Light/Dark Event. I have a ton of characters, and I'm still trying to find out which style I like best, and have settled (so far) on Vengeance Guardian. I played a lot of PvP from 10-69, and just hit 70 yesterday and have started doing ranked solo. My first match involved a lot of yelling and swearing at me - I'm a quick learner, and have good awareness and patience, but prefer criticism to be a little more constructive. I'd like to settle in with a small-ish group of people who PvP together, and don't take it so seriously that they may have a seizure if I am too far away to guard. Regarding the semi-casual part - I am 44 and married. I have a 5 year old, and my wife is dealing with an illness - I play this game to have fun and escape, and my priorities are my family. Back in the day, though (circa WoW Vanilla) I was a hard core raider, theorycrafter, and elitist jerk. I'm still competitive and I hate to lose, but my priorities are a little more ... high level. My playtime is limited to the evenings weekends, and there are occasions in which I may be called away for an emergency (like if my 5 year old pukes on the carpet). My primary is Republic side, but as I said I have a ton of characters ...
  2. I seriously laughed out loud when I met that guy in Rishi (I think) who thought I was a murderous cannibal - he said, something like "No speak Basic!" Uhhh .. De Wanna Wanga!!"
  3. So is this something that generally is fixed automatically, or only via ticket?
  4. Hm, perhaps I've found a bug then? Prior to my leaving I had completed Smuggler and Jedi Knight (this was before any additional content, Corellia was the last mission). When I returned a few weeks ago, I logged in it shows 2/8 complete on the log-in screen. I've since completed Corellia for both my Trooper and Consular, but that hasn't updated on the log-in, it still shows 2/8. I assumed that in order to get that complete status, I had to do the extra content. Am I confused, or is this a bug?
  5. Hello all - I'm not technically a new player, I started at launch and later left ... then returned recently after a long hiatus, and I pretty much feel like a new player with all of the changes since my departure. Prior to my leaving, I had two classes completed - it seems that you have to do more (MUCH more) to get that "completion" status now, I guess my old guys are grandfathered in. Anyways - is there something in game that explicitly tells you which missions you have to do? I feel silly that I cannot find it. The reason I'm asking is because I'm at a bit of a decision point - I've done everything class-wise (on Consular) except The Hunt and Day of Dread, though I'm not entirely sure Day of Dread is a class mission. I can hit PLAY for Chapter I: The Hunt, which warns me that everything will break and the galaxy will be forever changed, and I also have Day of Dread (Oricon) yet to do. The Oricon mission is not purple ... does the Oricon mission complete the class, The Hunt? Or both?
  6. This video is pretty much a textbook example of what not to do in Void Star - you fight both away from, and with your back to the door; then, when the door goes down you keep fighting away from and with your back to the door instead of running as fast as you can to the bridge controls to prevent the attackers from lowering the bridges. I didn't see hacking from either side, but I can understand why your team would think you need hacks to win ...
  7. Animosity, you say? Wouldn't happen to be in Shien, would you?
  8. I love this part - I have NEVER understood why it starts the WZ before everyone has accepted, that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. It is infuriating. If they make ONE change to warzones, please please let it be this Additionally, I don't know why joining a WZ in progress gives people the same 1 min timer. If you have 7 in a WZ, and the next person gets the pop and they wait the full timer and decide not to go in, that is a full minute the WZ has been without a player (unless I am misunderstanding the queueing mechanics). There should be a different mechanic for joining a WZ in progress, no timer and first come first serve.

    3 != 8 !!!!!!

    I don't understand how a match can start with 4, 5, or even 6 vs 8 ... it makes no sense and is not fun. And for those who stick it out, it is an epic trial of frustration, and - again - it is not fun at all. You enter the WZ knowing you are going to lose, knowing that you will get almost no valor or tokens, so why even bother with it? I do pvp for fun, but that is NOT FUN
  10. I'm going to start this off by saying my old age might be making my memory fuzzy ... but our CC breakers are supposed to clear roots, correct? The reason I ask is because I was in Huttball yesterday and got hit by a stun and a root which put me into full resolve. I used my CC breaker and was unable to move because I was still rooted. I went to my guild forums and complained about it, and a few guys told me that CC break never worked on roots to begin with. So now I'm beginning to question my own sanity (can't blame me after reading as many threads in this forum, really). First, did the CC break used to break root? I'm almost certain that it did and is supposed to; second, is anyone else experiencing the same issue with it NOT breaking roots now?
  11. My understanding was that you could take any armoring piece with a set-piece bonus - bought after 1.2 - and put it in an orange piece of gear and it would retain its bonus. What I am hearing now, is that the set bonuses only transfer on the end-game gear, War-Hero and Black Hole
  12. As I clearly stated, I bought both the orange modded armor, and the BM armor after 1.2 was deployed. As far as I know, those were the only requirements - if I'm wrong and it was stated elsewhere that there were other requirements, then I guess I'm okay with that, but according to their own patch notes here http://www.swtor.com/patchnotes/1.2.0/legacy: That last sentence, which mentions it not applying to all armoring mods, may be where the confusion is, but I'm still not quite sure what I did wrong here ...
  13. It's my understanding that if you take the armoring out of PvP gear, and place it inside an orange crafted gear that orange becomes a part of the set, as far as setpiece bonuses are concerned. Having said that, I bought Peacekeeper's Greaves [Augmented], and then bought the BM Vindicator Greaves. Both purchases made after 1.2 went live. I took the armoring mod out of the BM greaves and put them in the Peacekeeper Greaves, and the legs do not count towards my bonus. I thought that it might be a graphical bug and it just wasn't highlighting, but I dueled a guildmate to be sure, and the 4-piece set bonus did not kick in (for Guardians it's a damage buff following Force Leap). I'm just wondering if I did something wrong, if it's not implemented yet, or if this is bugged?
  14. I'm confused - what instadeaths are in 1.2? How is it better going from chained stuns to instant death? Or was that a typo?
  15. Your experience is not unique - every fresh 50 has to take their knocks, and it is a painful initiation. The best thing you can do is to get orange gear with as good mods as you can - for my guys, I have a Cybertech, and was able to outfit all artifact armor plating/mods. The Centurion set is easy to get, and will give you a significant performance boost and a little more survivability. If you saved up 1000/1000 Merc/WZ comms when you hit 50 for the Champ bags, you'll already have a few pieces right off the bat. Stick with it and get your Champ set and you will be okay ...
