  1. I'm pretty annoyed about that too. If people are concerned about clipping options, what don't they just hide their helmet in the options? I for one find that the smuggler's headgear look way better with lekkus than without... I mean, there's an option, specifically in-game, for hiding the helmet. So why don't you let players decide whether they want to deal with lekkus clipping through ot not? More importantly, why was it changed in 1.2?
  2. Hello ! I figured this is the place to give feedback to Bioware about their game. I'm not looking to discuss this. If you agree with some of those points, feel free to add your weight to this ! If you don't, don't bother discussing, it doesn't change my opinion. I've been playing since the first beta weekend (although only in three weekends... not full beta), but I'm taking my time. My highest character reached level 30 yesterday, and I've enjoyed PvE, PvP, roleplaying and space combat. Big Disappointment: - So far, I am NOT impressed by Flashpoints. Esseles and Black Talon are great. And they set some expectations for the others that are NOT met (from Hammer Station to Cademimu at least). Mostly about the story. Esseles and Black Talon have lots of dialog lines, lots of choices to make, that will actually impact the story. You know what's going on, why you're doing what you're doing. In the others, you just plough through mobs of enemies. Kill bosses. You have the one choice, which is a barely disguised version of "do you want light or dark side points?". You don't even get dialogs from this choice. It just gives you the parameters of the choice, and asks you to make the choice, that will have no influence on whatever happens next, other than Master Satele's debriefing... Now don't take me wrong. I understand some players don't want to have to deal with dialogs every time they run a flashpoint. That's fine by me. But for a game that prides itself on being story-driven, I would have expected half the Flashpoints to have a compelling story. - The other big thing I'm disappointed with, is the main character's lines. Once again, we heard a whole lot about it being "the first fully voiced MMO". I understand you save a lot of disk space, money and energy by recycling some dialog lines. But many times, I like the prompts on the dialog wheel better than the actual voiced answer. Voicing the main character was a great idea when first done in Mass Effect. The fact they don't just repeat what you've just read makes it much more interesting to follow the cutscene. But the prompts on the dialog wheel should just give you an idea of what the character will say, NOT be what you wish they would say if you had recorded more dialog lines! Many times I will choose a witty answer, only to be disappointed by the character repeating the same old stupid line. And NPCs reacting to that old boring line rather than the witty answer. Those two are the biggest ones. Mostly because they go against the two big points that were advertised for the game... I know they can't be fixed, really, it would be too much work. I just hope when you release future content, you think about them. Dislikes: Here are a couple things I don't really like. But that are not life-changing... - Crafting is pretty much as useless as in any other game, unless you dedicate yourself to it. I have troubles seeing why I would bother with it when all the mods I can make as I level up are subpar to the ones we find in the world... It's not even worth leveling up for money, as you sell those mods for about 10 credits to vendors, and players are of course not interested in them. I understand you can make great things if you dedicate yourself to it, and some people like crafting. But for me, it's hard to find the motivation to level it up. - We still can't follow a main story with a friend. I understand most people wouldn't like it, but we have the option to allow same-class into class instances. Why not allow same-class to make choices if they are on the same quest? If we want to allow them, why not? I'm ready to make the mental gymnastics to pretend the NPCs are talking to two characters instead of one. - World PvP so far (up to Nar Shaddaa) is very disappointing. I hear it gets better as you go to higher level planets. Why not start it early? Nar Shaddaa is supposed to be open to both factions, at the same level. Yet I haven't met anyone from the other faction on any of my three characters that have been there... Makes me wonder why on earth PvP and PvE servers were created... If I'm on a PvP server, it probably means I don't want to wait until I'm level 30 to get to do some open-world PvP... - No rewards for being neutral. Which, once again, for a game that prides itself on story, means you reward people that click the little "light" or "dark" icon, and not the people that make choices based on their characters beliefs... I don't think it would be hard to take into account the total alignment score, in addition to the Light and Dark choices... As I mentioned before in other posts, the simplest way to deal with this would be to give Dark I or Light I regardless of the total score. You should be able to get both Dark I and Light I. Or Dark III and Light I. That would mean that people that stick to their alignment would access special items earlier, but people who are truly neutral could access items from both sides, only at a slower rate. - I like the idea of having titles. I would have been happier if they were titles people would actually wear proudly. Like the kind you see on "Wanted" posters. Like nicknames. "Ztaka "Black Bissector" Vao" rather than "Ztaka Vao, Black Bissector". "Ztaka the Founder" would be better than "Ztaka, Founder", too. "Skirmisher Ztaka" is weird. Is "skirmisher" a title just like "sergeant"? I'm not a writer. You guys should come up with better stuff. - What are Armor vendors for? The gear they sell is always the same, and always utterly useless... They have one or two good items, and that's it. I'm not saying they should have better gear than what you find on bosses, but you should be able to buy yourself a good outfit, providing you have the money! Likes: Finally, because no feedback is complete without good feedback, here's a list of things I like very much, as both a past MMO player and a Bioware fan (meaning that all the stuff that is directly imported from either don't really impress me, like story or companions... I'm happy to have them, but it's part of the "Bioware" package, I expect them to be there.) - Using gathering abilities in Flashpoints. That only makes me want to level them up. It's like skills in past Bioware games, and it rocks you put it in there. - The mail you get from NPC's in your regular mailbox. Once again, that's taken from previous Bioware games, but the fact it's the same mailbox than your regular one makes it even better. (Although some NPC's are not very good at estimating the value of things... "Wait, you're paying for my silence with what it costs me to buy a jukebox token?") - Social gear that you can mod to keep it at your level, and that is pretty cheap too. It's great to be able to dress as you please! - Datacrons! Gods I hate spending half an hour trying to successfully get to a datacron without falling. But finally getting there is great enough to make it worth it ! (Even if it's a lame +3 Strength Datacron with my Smuggler!) I love those that are in plain sight, or at least not too hard to see, but much harder to find a path to and get to. Which is most of them, if I'm not mistaken. - Similarly, lore items and XP you get from exploring is nice. - The different taxis are great too. They blend perfectly with the world's theme, and that's very enjoyable.

  4. You know, I haven't read the whole thing, but I think a lot of roleplaying guides go way too deep. Or rather, they forget to tell how to start roleplaying slowly. Creating a whole character, with backstory and all, can be very intimidating. Just to introduce myself, I have little experience in formal roleplaying in MMOs, but I've played plenty of tabletop roleplaying games and computer RPGs, a couple LARPS and consider myself a good roleplayer (only I don't know much about MMO RP). In MMOs, however, I have way more fun roleplaying as I quest around than standing in a tavern waiting for a player to type up whatever he's doing and saying. So my advice to people wanting to start roleplaying would actually be this: Don't worry about your character's backstory. Especially in this game. Create a character you like. Play along the story. You will have to empathize with your character in the dialogs anyway. Get a feel in those as to what you feel your character is like, how he reacts to things. Then, as you group up with people, start saying stuff your character would say. Personally, I even insult mobs when I'm playing alone, with nobody around. Running back from a quest with someone is a great time to toggle auto-run (or follow on the other player), and start chatting: "Man, those Republic dudes are so weak. How can they still not be under Empire's dominion?", "Why did you kill that Imperial? We could have gotten him to work for the Republic!", or even "Man, I hope the credits are good for this mission. I'm all for helping the widow and the orphan, but I get cranky when I'm low on creds..." When you see someone with a cool armor, tell them, in character. When you meet someone in the middle of nowhere, /salute or /bow to them. Need to restore your energy/ammo/heat/whatever? Tell you group: "Guys, I ain't running on mystical power! Let me reload!" Need to tell your group you'll tank ? "Let me get that guy's attention. He'd blast a hole big as your head through you." You're a Sorcerer, not spec'ed to heal ? "You expect me to heal you? What am I, your slave? My powers are designed to kill. Ask again and I'll show you exactly how unpleasantly." Then later on you can develop a backstory for your character, and find people to roleplay with standing around if you feel like it. If you already mentioned all that, then ignore me.
