  1. When I wander around a galaxy far, far away, I see an awful lot of Jedi NPCs with hood-down robes and armour. When I look at the empire, I see an awful lot of Sith PCs with hood-down robes and armour. So when can I expect my Jedi Guardian to be able to wear hood-down robes and armour?
  2. If you're going to be playing with a healing sage, then as a Guardian you will do very well. I can't speak for Shadow having not played it, but with guard redirecting 50% of the damage, and using taunts (which reduce the damage of another player by 30% for 6 seconds when not attacking you), you should make a pretty formidable team!
  3. My Guardian is now level 42, and I've tanked all the flashpoints (except Colicoid War Games) up to this point, and the AoE taunt has to be one of my least used abilities. Because of its relatively long cooldown, I've used it as more of an "oh ****" button for quickly grabbing aggro from multiple mobs should I lose it. Having tanked in other MMOs, at first I was desperately trying to use the same techniques, getting aggro on everything and holding it - if you're facing a large pack with a couple of elites, strongs and then some trash that's very difficult. The logical tactic is usually to kill off the weakest enemies first (unless their damage is so low it makes no difference keeping them alive), that means that its not really necessary for the tank to try to pick up those not-so-hard hitting normal (or even strong) mobs - they will be dead quickly enough anyway. That means you can focus on keeping the aggro on a smaller number of harder hitting enemies. I usually do that switching targets after every two sunders, but that can change depending on the situation of course, and using the single target and AoE taunts when needed, not on every CD. I'm sure there are other ways to be an effective tank, but so far the only wipes I've experienced are from bosses where we didn't know that tactics and had to figure them out as we went, so I think this is pretty effective as long as the DPS are on board and know to kill off the weaker enemies quickly!
  4. +1 to this. I'm fed up of having a bald female guardian, it looks ridiculous! I really hope that the armour on the character creation screen is actually in-game.
  5. I'm glad my posting helped someone else! Enjoy the game.
  6. I have actually managed to fix this, by turning all settings to high, then back down to low. My framerate has practically doubled and I can now play at 1680x1050 on medium settings (without shadows).
  7. Yes, that is correct. I am running Windows just the same as I would do on a normal laptop. The only real difference is the bootloader.
  8. I just got into early access today (yay!), but when I started playing I can't seem to get above 20 FPS on the absolute lowest settings at 1680x1050. I've had to turn my resolution down to 1280x800 just to make the game playable. I'm running it on a MacBook Pro 15" via Bootcamp, from 2010. It has a 2.67 GHz i7 processor, 4GB RAM, and a 512MB GeForce 330M. As far as I can see, my system is better than the minimum requirements. My drivers are all up to date, and this is running on a clean install of windows (especially for SWTOR). If anyone has a similar system, and could let me know what settings they are playing on with what framerate, I would really appreciate the help, trying to figure out if this is just a problem with my system in particular, or just that it is underpowered.
  9. That might be a good idea to start with, as it will probably result in shorter queue times to get into the game, but I've always found busy servers to be better when starting a new MMO - it usually means there are more people around to group up with etc. as well as to just give advice.
  10. It looks like they have invited people up to the 7th December today, which strongly implies those of us who pre-ordered after that date will get to play tomorrow.
  11. As someone who pre-ordered on Dec. 11th, I would like to thank everyone who has had a tantrum about not being let in yet over the past few days for keeping me entertained whilst I wait. Hopefully see some of you in-game tomorrow!
  12. There's also a precedent for Sith Lords being able to physically interact with the world after their death. Could be that the Force Ghost of Tulak Hord was responsible?
  13. I just want to the thank the OP for the time and effort but into maintaining this thread, which has helped me retain my sanity whilst waiting for that elusive email.
