  1. I stand by my assertion that this game has got to get content....not more linear story lines but content. I am in a raid guild on EQ2. We log in...raid....as soon as raid is over we leave. I am now logging into SWTOR...crafting, doing a quest or two and leaving. Both have become mundane. It took EQ2 5 years to become mundane. SWTOR is already mundane in 2 months for me....because it has no content other then linear story lines.
  2. SWG pre NGE was great...broken but great....tons of potential but a train wreck because of the idea of a seamless world run by very bad computers. But the players made the story. The sandbox was immense. Right now SWTOR is nothing like SWG pre NGE but SWTOR has all the right stuff........its just got to get content. CONTENT....SANDBOX.....Content and you got a winner. If they insist on spending every dime on end game PVP its nothing but SWG turned into....a FPS.......and a bad one at that....everyone I know is ridiculing the PVP. I was on VOSS....a JEDI asked me to flag so we could PVP...I DID........2 hidden republics jumped out of hiding and 2 of them ganked me. Actually it was 3...including the jedi's companion. That is how pvp transpired in everquest ...which failed.....miserably. EQ2 has merged their pvp servers down to either one or two not sure but no one pvp's there anymore because its just a gank fest. SWTOR has all the right stuff.....they just need to get it right or it will be an epic failure....it can sooooooo succeed....but it can also fail badly........ If they focus on endgame and ignore everything else....it will be epic fail....
  3. As I posted in another thread......they put a lot of time into crafting but the day the game went live there were going to be no crafters to make anything so they flooded the market with cheap armor, and cheap mods from commendation merchants to make up for the fact that in the first few weeks their were going to be few crafters. Now that there are crafters they are going to have to change the mods prices from the merchants or cyber techs are going to have a hard time competing with them as they want to charge 5k for a mod when a player can get one almost as good for 2 commendations.
  4. This is why I say I think they put a lot of time and effort into crafting then another department put a lot of time and effort into commendations and rewards and neither department checked with the other and voilla.........the game was released and crafting was almost inconsequential. You advance pretty fast. No real point in buying good gear from the Market. If no ones buying it and you can get decent gear just by earning commendations then that further negates the need for crafting. I make all my money making implants because the QUESTING is seriously lacking in giving implants as rewards....yet for my Artificer I can hardly give away Earpieces because there are so many quest rewards for ear pieces. In short.........crafting right now is more or less pointless other then if you want a pretty red light saber or want to MOD your own equiptment but to go to the broker there are either 300 MODS for 400 credits or you can just get one for 2 commendations from the mods merchants. Beginning game this was a good idea. But the game is nearly 2 months old now.....raise the prices of these merchant items and crafters can start making some money.....otherwise crafting will become even more of a /fail idea in the game.
  5. It would appear to me that crafting was something they spent a great deal of time developing but then after they spent all this time decided to go a different direction. The same direction every other MMO on the market is going......end game content. Rather then the journey being all the fun they are making the same mistake every other MMO is making.....I stress MMO as in sandboxing MMO....(not FPS PVP RPG pretend MMO concept) That mistake is to rush to max level and then make the rewards be gear and items that people used to craft, quest for and adventure for. I play everquest 2 and they have done the exact same thing.........you can literally get to level 90 from level 1 in a couple days if you know how...then the real game begins......the perpetual carrot and stick hunt for better and better and better gear.......while crafters are busy making chairs that no one wants anymore cause you can quest for something kewler looking and then sell it on the broker. Sad......My finger is hoovering near the cancel button every day as I force myself to hold out one more day in hopes they add content that is not PVP end game oriented.
  6. Third party GUI.......Lamer gamer. No thanks. I hope SWTOR allows for some freedom to customize their own GUI but I do not hope they allow 3rd party GUI's. If they do its a clear sign that they are committed to another /fail pvp battleground FPS and the MMO aspect of this game will die a quick an painful death and SWTOR will look just like SWG in its dying throes. Because lets face it.......IF SWG was a success...there would be NO SWTOR.
  7. Healing since Everquest... and yes, you are all right "It truely always IS the healers fault" Well in everquest 2 its now the RANGERS fault.....everytime something goes wrong.
  8. 1. Sandboxers....are usually the types that spend 5-10 hours a day almost every day in the game....immersing themselves in an alternate universe.....the why of this is various but remember folks....many people.....I included are homebound...sitting in wheelchairs etc.....and WE WOULD LOVE TO GET A LIFE.....but alas....... 2. PVP'ers are usually high schoolers or college age kids who work hard at school, come home and jump on the puter for a couple hours and PVP. These players have no compassion or understanding of group one above and are usually critical of group one above. 3. Kiddies. They want to do it all.....play 1-2 hours per day and usually get in the way of pvp'ers and make the game play of sandboxers frustrating by joinning groups then leaving to take out the garbage or go eat. 4. Mom and Dad. These are IMO the best gamers in the room. They are trying to juggle family life and computer life. They are dedicated to the game. Usually are good players who feed off each other and learn from each other and collectively are much more intelligent about the game. Mom stays home and plays all day.......clues dad in when he gets home and logs on.........They are usually some of the greatest contributors to any group or guild.....In fact they are usually the leaders of said group or guild. Now having said all that.......as you can see the diversity of the players makes it hard to do ALL THINGS right. The MMO developers usually end up trying to please them all and fail at pleasing any of them. I hold out hope that BIOWARE will learn.....and make PVP better........make sandboxing better......will make grouping and guilds better......... I hold out this hope because the game is young. If they do....people will grudgingly be happy.....If they dont......this will be SWG and Bioware will be Smedley........lol. Hang in there folks...give em time.........I for one play EQ2 and Starcraft 2 in addtion to SWTOR.....that way I dont burn out of any of them until they can make SWTOR the go to game......keep your options open.
  9. Once on the planet we could contact our ship once per hour and have one of our companions come pick us up in a shuttle and take us back directly to our ship.....also once per hour we could leave our ship in our shuttle and have it take us to one of the stations that we have bound.....this feature counts as the one hour timer so if we are taken to a spot we cannot be picked up again for one more hour. Feature......our space level would determine how quickly the companion can pilot the shuttle to us and pick us up.....level 1 might take a minute.....level 10 might take 10 seconds.....etc....incentive for increasing our piloting. A few of these steps could be eliminated to make the running time shorter but...... I would advocate the actual flight time from planet to planet be stretched out to a minute up to 2 minutes based upon distance....ie the fuel cost. This would give us time to go to the bathroom, make a phone call....get a drink or work on our cargo hold etc. Reduce steps in running and increase travel time along with shuttle pick up or delivery once per hour would drastically make for a more pleasurable experience for all.
  10. I watched a live stream of pvp on illum..... The chat went like....can you believe this? Nah...this is stupid..... /fail if they think this is pvp. In short...... Once again...... an MMO made a game for PVP'ers and NON PVP'ers and it just can't be done. You cannot have 8 classes....16 professions all with different skills and abilities and then throw them into a combat zone and have a winner.............at the same time trying to appease the NON pvp'ers who have no desire to pvp but who see their toons nerfed or buffed based upon playability of the PVP'ers. It just cant be done and SWTOR will and is proving again......its a slash fail attempt at trying to coddle to both PVE and PVP'ers in the same game. Im not trashing the game or PVP or PVE....but I have said from the beginning.....do ONE or the OTHER....but you just cant do both. you just cant.
  11. As an everquest 2 main tank raider The one thing that annoys me to no end is the way the computer takes control of your toon during combat. Ie....Im facing a varmit and killing it......then I want to run towards another varmit to get to melee so I try to pivot my guy and run at the same time....the game takes over repositions the camera to the back of my guy and makes him run in the wrong direction disorienting me to the point I have no freakin clue where I am or what Im doing. This one thing makes me want to quit this game. I feel as if I have ZERO control over any encounter and as a tank I want to control the encounter not let a mindless camera angle destroy any semblance of sanity I might have while engaging in combat. There is almost ZERO camera control by the player when in combat.......Many times in close encounters the camera will zoom in because of back spacing but then fail to zoom back out when you pivot your view. There is so much wrong with just the camera work in this game that it drives me insane.
  12. Every story line is the same....Ive played nearly all of them....not to conclusion but deep into them. Every story line is about mass murder....running around killing mindlessly for the experience so you can level up..... I mean I thought I was the only Grandmaster of the great hunt until I stand around the fleet and see 2 dozen grandmasters of the great hunt walk by me and realize. Their life is a mirror image of my life.........hence this games entire design is to entertain you to level 50 so you can then PVP or raid........ Great game for a casual player......really mindless repetition for an avid sandboxer.
  13. AMD 1090XT 6 core computer with 8 gig ram, raid 0 and a gtx 560 TI factory Overclocked video card. This game rocks for me. As with any thing. You get what you pay for. ....and I got tired of paying for cheap computers and then blaming my gaming experience on the game.
  14. If this game caters exclusively to PVP'ers it will lose the MMO crowd.....or 40-60 percent of the player base. If this game caters to the MMO crowd it will lose the PVP crowd...or 40-60 percent of the player base. IF they cater to both......... Both groups will be disappointed and both groups will move on to the next game. I just wished these New MMO's would realize you cant do both....It just cant be done.....SWTOR is no exception. I have yet to hit 50 on any toon but I have hit 38 on a sith juggernaut and have 700k in the bank and nothing to spend it on....Im in no hurry to get to 50 cause for me it appears the game is over.... Im an MMO sandboxer...not a pvp'er and after 5 years of RAIDING on Everquest 2 I sure dont want to raid here. game over man....game over.
  15. I was on the fleet yesterday when there was 99 on the fleet. 86 on coruscant. 56 on Alderbaran, and something like 29 on Taris. These being the places I traveled yesterday. Yet this morning I logged into the Imperial fleet and their was 5 people in the fleet.....5 on hoth. It ebbs and flows. Its hardly time to talk server merges one month after release....but there is no doubt that some servers will be merged in the coming months.....thats just the way it goes for a new game.
